I hate it when I click on the url-field and its size change.

It wasn't there in former firefox versions and I did not miss it. It changed some time ago. Any decent software development would have introduced his new feature and provided a "classic" option to turn it off. Not so firefox. Mozilla introduced it and I had to google how to get the old behaviour back. No option.. I have to go to about:config, ignore teh warnings, find some weird options and set them to false and the mozilla turned that off too. Now the was to change it is to set up a css-file, got to about:config again to make firefox actually read that file, place some mystery css-code in there and it still does not work!

Very annoying, an outstanding example of bad practice how to introduce new features and take away users choices.

Before shutting down Firefox I deleted history/cache/passwords etc from the past day

I do this all the time but since I had restore previous tabs selected they always get restored when I start up again

However this time they weren't restored when I restarted

Without closing Firefox I navigated to the sessionstore-backups folder to see what was there but the files were only 2KB - much too small for the number of tabs.

So I installed ShadowExplorer & Shadowcopyview to see if I could recover older versions I was able to locate jsonlz4 files from a few days ago that were around 11000KB in size so I assumed they would have most of my tabs

However when trying to use the files nothing happens - I tried 2 different steps that I read here had worked for others

1 - Renaming previous.jsonlz4 to sessionstore.jsonlz4 , moving to the profile folder (deleting the old one first) and restarting FF

2 - Deleting sessionstore.jsonlz4 and copying the recovered previous.jsonlz4 / recovery.baklz4 /recovery.jsonlz4 / upgrade.jsonlz4-20201014125134 files to the sessionstore-backups folder and restarting FF

I also repeated the steps after creating a separate profile

None of these worked so I tried examining the jsonlz4 files using https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html but I got an error message 'Session history file contents could not be read?'

Now I've previously used recovered Jsonlz4 files to restore tabs with no issues but this time they won't work

I read here https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1189759 that updates may cause compatibility issues and the upgrade.jsonlz4-20201014125134 file indicates they was a recent update

The recovered file sizes indicate they contain data so I want to know how I can recover it - if not through FF then through some other software

The browser crashes about every two or three days. I have enabled all four boxes in preferences (Priv & Sec settings) but the crash reporter does not appear. Is there anywhere in the Fedora Linux system where I can get some info about why this keep happening?

TB folders do NOT show the gold star when there is NEW mail any more!!!

Thunderbird used to show a yellow star right on the folder when looking at multiple inboxes. The new TB does not show me which inbox received new message! I have to click each folder to see which one has the unread mail.

Usually when I hear the beep, I go to TB take a quick glance and it used to show which inbox has new mail....

Please if you can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

We have several computers here using Thunderbird. We have just added a new one and installed Thunderbird on it too. Everything is synced on thunderbird on the new computer except the colored tags. These tags are customized and added onto the new computer just as every other computer. However these tags dont show up on the new computer. What can we do to solve this?

On FoxNews.com, some articles include a section at the bottom for user comments. First-level comments frequently receive additional second- and third-level comments.

First-level comments are working fine, but lower-level comments are partially obliterated with a string of black diamonds with question marks �?U��N�@?�.

This is not an issue when I use Safari, but it is on Firefox.

Hi there, first time posting. I have Firefox 82.0.3 64-bit and I am on Windows 10. The only add-ons I have are Ublock Origin and Adblocker.

This morning I was having some internet trouble and it turns out my ISP needs to send someone out to my house to fix it. While my internet was going in and out, Firefox seemed very sensitive to this because it would continue to crash.

I was wondering if your internet connection going in and out can cause Firefox to crash (I need to the end the process because it is unresponsive type of crashing). I don't usually have any problems with Firefox and just wanted to ask.

There appears to be a bug in Firefox when I use this website, https://www.ourguide.com.au/tv_guide.php?r=melbourne&w=now

When you scroll down, the headings move right and show above the wrong information, see attached screen shots.

If you use this website on Chrome, you don't get the scroll issue so I think it is either a Firefox bug or something that needs changing in my Firefox settings.

I am running Firefox 77.0.1 (64-bit).

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

HI all.

I have been using Thunderbird successfully for a long time and have quite a substantial amount of stored info in the 'profile'.

My old Win 10 PC died so I was unable to migrate my Thunderbird service to my new Win 10 PC via the method shown in Help topics on this site. But, I did always back up what I thought was my 'profile folder'. The one that has the title format xxxxxxxxx.default. Reading the instructions in the Help article, I realise that I really needed to back up the entire 'Thunderbird' folder if I was to use it later for migration.

I am where I am, so is there any way I can recover any data from my old xxxxxxxx.default folder such as Emails/Contacts/Local Folders etc?

Hello! I have been a Thunderbird user for many years now and I absolutely love it. The problem that occurred a few weeks ago is actually the first I have ever encountered, so I'm really hoping someone can help me solve it. I have always had several email accounts set up in Thunderbird. My current ISP is Spectrum (formerly Charter in my area). My primary email accounts are all xxxx@charter.net accounts. I also have a few older email accounts set up from when I had AT&T as my ISP and these accounts are all xxxx@sbcglobal.net accounts. The first thing that happened a few weeks ago was that I stopped receiving emails at any of the xxxx@sbcglobal.net accounts. When I open Thunderbird now, my Charter emails all come in fine but an error message comes up relating to the xxxx@sbcglobal.net accounts (see images). I am able to log in to the web-based email site to get all of these emails with my email addresses and passwords associated with each account, but they simply no longer come in to Thunderbird. That is problem #1. Problem #2 occurs when I try to set up a new Charter email account in Thunderbird. I use the automatic configuration option and the first screen says that the necessary settings have been found, but when I click "Done" I get the error message shown (again, see images). When I attempt to manually configure the account, I compare the settings to my other Charter email accounts that are all sending and receiving emails just fine and cannot for the life of me see any differences. So...I'm stuck. Any help that the membership might be able to offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello! I use Thunderbird on Windows 10 for my emails. I am trying to connect via POP3 connection to Godaddy's Office 365 server where the email is set up. When I put in the server settings Godaddy has given me https://au.godaddy.com/help/find-my-microsoft-365-imap-or-pop-settings-9012, Thunderbird gives a message that it senses that the server is there. But when I select done, I get an error message "Config could not be verified. Likely that server admin has disabled selected configuration for your account."

Thunderbird doesn't have the encryption method of SSL, so I tried all the other encryption methods. I got the same error message.

I am certain that the password is correct because I have logged in directly from the browser with no trouble. I copy and paste the password so there is no chance for typos.

I hav been using my Gmail in Firefox with no problem until about 3 days ago. Now when I try to sign in to my account I get a pop up window which states “This browser or app may not be secure. Try using a different browser. Etc.”

I have tried another browser (chrome) and Gmail works fine, but I like working in Firefox. But at this rate I may dump Firefox and go to another browser.

I have looked through the other support group questions and solutions. I have tried them all and nothing is resolved. Clearing cache, clearing cookies, using a private window, managing data, using forget about this site, generating a new profile, disabling extensions, loading in safe mode, etc.

I have Firefox version 83.0 (64 bit). My operating system is windows 7.

Any other suggestions?

Hi, PDF File handling has recently changed - For the worse for me and it's become really frustrating.

When I right click a PDF file link and select "open link in new tab", why does Firefox then ask me how I want to treat the file? I just asked it to open the file in a new tab, so it should be obvious what I want to do - asking again is illogical.

Not only that, before the file handling dialog box, it opens a new tab next to the tab I'm in and then closes it when the dialog box appears - When I select the unnecessary "open in Firefox" (I just asked it to open in a new tab), it now creates a new tab at the END of my tabs and steals focus.

I also get the file handling dialog box when I ask to "save link as", when logically I should just get the save location dialog box.

How do I get the old behaviour back?

However I upgraded on November 13th to 78.4.3 and now I can still download messages BUT sending results in this. "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again."

I've tried all the usual things verifying setting etc. It seems this has happened before based on the help forums. I've trued those fixes as well. Nothing works. Thanks Tom
