When I select a line of text, normally it would get deleted/overwritten when typing a new line of text, but when I select text in Firefox and begin typing again, it simply deletes the first word in the selection and keeps the rest. Is there a setting to have ALL text selected deleted/overwritten when new text is entered? Selecting one word overwrites the whole word but when an entire line to be deleted is selected, only the first word is deleted and typing begins where that word ends.

I really appreciate Firefox's built in translator; it is extremely helpful. However there is one thing that bugs me, when translating a page that has multiple language options. For example, when translating a page from German to English, the word "Deutsch" (often listed in the website's built in language settings) is translated not to "German", but to "English". While technically correct in that the page is now displaying English thanks to the Firefox translation, it would probably be better to show "German" so that it is easier to switch the website language and not have a duplicate "English" option in the website's dropdown menu. I have noticed this on multiple websites, specifically with German, but it might be with other languages as well. Hopefully this explanation of the issue makes sense, and see my attached screenshot which shows this issue. Please let me know if there is somewhere else I should submit this too.

I have been using Firefox with Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional 16.1 since 2022. Never had a problem with dictating into any boxes or search bars before today. Now I cannot dictate into those and I need to. I am a quadriplegic and ventilator dependent and need to use Firefox and be able to dictate into it. Can someone tell me what to do to get that to work again?

Hi everyone.
Basically when the browser is (I think) idle while watching YouTube, FF is constantly backing up (the timestamp in the backup file name keeps getting updated). From the settings page I thought it once every 24 hours. I noticed from higher than normal CPU usage impacting FF and the Windows search indexer. Which reverted to normal once I disabled the backup.
I checked the about config:
Is set to 24 hours (86400 seconds)
But I also noticed:
Is set to 15 seconds(!). Is that what I think it is? Back up whenever there's a 15 sec idle window, regardless of the minimum? Can I safely make that 86400 seconds too, or does it do something else entirely?
Many thanks in advance.

For years, I've been using FF on desktop (Linux), tablet (Android) and phone (Android - Samsung S24+). Sync has never been a problem until two weeks ago when FF on the phone has either refused to sync when I tapped the command, or hasn't synced for many hours or sometimes days (which is why I tried to do it manually). So, I signed out of my FF account on all 3 devices and then signed back in. The desktop computer and tablet are syncing normally, but the phone still won't sync. When I tap the 3-dot menu on the phone and then my name, it says the phone has NEVER been synced and tapping the sync command does nothing. Under "Choose what to sync", all options are checked, but greyed out. Can't change them, in other words. When I access bookmarks on the phone, it properly shows what was there before the last sync. The phone is running FF version 150.0 Build 2016155439

Hello All,
I'm using Firefox (149.0.2 snap) with LUbuntu 24.04.4 LTS. Because of a wrong graphic driver, I had to turn off hardware acceleration in FF.
When FF is started the Initial "Firefox - Choose User Profile" is unreadable (see attached : wrong_screen.jpg), but if I continue (click somewhere in the window) , all the opened tabs are readable.
Once in FF, if I want to select another profile from the application menu -> .. -> manage profiles, then the "Choose User Profile" window is fine (see attached : good_screen.jpg).
I tried to start FF with the "-P" option to specify wanted profile but it continues to start with the unreadable "Choose User Profile" window.
Could someone give me a solution, except finding the good hardware driver for my computer?
Thanks Bouilla.

Title: Please Add Native Background Play for YouTube, Facebook & All Video Platforms
Hi Firefox Android team,
One feature request that would make Firefox Android truly unbeatable:
Built-in Background Play — for all platforms.
Currently, to play YouTube or Facebook videos in the background, users have to manually switch to Desktop Mode, which is a frustrating and confusing workaround. Most users don't even know this trick exists.
Please make background play a native, one-tap feature that works automatically on any video platform — YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and beyond — without requiring Desktop Mode or any workaround.
Brave is already competing for YouTube users. Firefox can win them all by being the only mobile browser that plays any video in the background, natively and effortlessly.
This single feature would bring thousands of users away from premium subscriptions. YouTube Premium's biggest selling point is background play. Firefox can offer that for free, for every platform, to every user.
That is a massive opportunity. Please take it.
Thank you for your time and for building a browser that still fights for the open web.
Best regards, A Firefox Android user

I’ve been experiencing an issue where dragging a URL or text from Notepad++ into Firefox causes the text to be removed from Notepad++. It behaves like Firefox is requesting a MOVE operation instead of a COPY. This only happens with Firefox, dragging the same text into Vivaldi, Chrome, Edge, etc. does not delete the text.
Here’s everything I’ve already tried:
1. Verified it’s not a Notepad++ setting Disabled “Multi‑Editing” in Notepad++ Restarted Notepad++ Confirmed the issue only happens with Firefox, not other browsers
2. Tested Firefox Safe/Troubleshoot Mode Launched Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode (no extensions, no themes, default settings) The issue still happens there, so it’s not caused by an extension or add‑on
3. Created a brand‑new Firefox profile Went to about:profiles Created a completely new, clean profile with no imported data Tested dragging again — the issue still happens even in a fresh profile
4. Reset and recreated drag‑related Firefox preferences I checked and/or reset the following in about:config: ui.dragThresholdX → recreated as Integer = 16 ui.dragThresholdY → recreated as Integer = 16 dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled → set to false browser.drag_out_of_frame_style → set to 0 browser.search.context.loadInBackground → false browser.tabs.searchclipboardfor.middleclick → false browser.urlbar.update1 → false widget.disable-native-drag → true Restarted Firefox after each change. None of these resolved the issue.
5. Tested modifier‑key behavior Holding CTRL while dragging does prevent the text from being deleted → This confirms Firefox is treating normal drags as MOVE instead of COPY.
6. Verified it’s Firefox‑only Dragging the same text from Notepad++ into Vivaldi, Chrome, Edge, Word, Notepad, etc. works normally Only Firefox causes the source text to be removed
I'm at a loss of what the issue can be or where to go from here or if there is no fix at the moment.

After updating to 150 (any subversion), FF crashes on almost start - I can load a page but loading another page or a video in the page will stop loading after a while and crash within 5-10sec. No about:crashes generated. No crash if I only browse the page that's opened (except if I load extra content like videos). FF remembers if I navigate to another page before the crash, it'll open the navigated-to tab (provided it has been long enough, small pages load, big pages don't). It really looks like after loading a fixed amount of data it just stops loading and crashes, taking the full browser down with it. Note that there is likely 500+ tabs opened (even though it's never been a problem), cache was cleared and extensions deactivated.
For the first time in many many years, the beta's unstable (brillant track record for a beta)!
