I keep getting notifications asking me to update firefox every couple of days. I download the update, it goes smoothly, the notification disappears, but it comes back in a day or two. I also have my setting to supposedly do updates automatically, but that doesn't seem to be working. Please help!

I have a Fastmail and 2 Cox addresses on rolled back Thunderbird 102. The Fastmail is IMap and both Cox addresses are POP 3. Cox is transitioning to Yahoo Mail, but we have kept our Cox addresses. I'm getting Yahoo mail web mail and think I should change the existing settings on Thunderbird and not create new accounts, but want to make sure. I saw something about Thunderbird and Yahoo and want to make sure I do it right or should use the third party setting for desktop clients that Cox provided for the transition. For me, the transition has not gone smoothly and I'm pretty frustrated. I am not a techie and any help in getting mail to the 2 Cox addresses landing in Thunderbird and the Fastmail continuing as is would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I use google as my default firefox home page on my HP laptop. recently a second tab opens at the same time. "how to set the home page" --I've tried closing it and restarting the laptop, but it continues to pop up every time I open firefox as a 2nd tab. I am/was happy with my homepage opening to google. How can I get rid of this second tab. thanks

I just installed Thunderbird (working elsewhere) on a Windows 11 machine, and used the 'auto setup' feature. Sending/receiving works fine, but for every message sent:

1. A pop-up appears, which reads 'Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message to Local Folders/Sent-mydomain.com

2. The current command did not succeed. The mail server for account mydomain.com responded [TRYCREATE] Folder doesn't exist. (Failure).

Sent messages appear just fine locally in Thunderbird, and also on Gmail, and they send fine as well, so I just need to disable the incorrect error messages. Thanks for any help (NOOB level tech savvy).

I've been using Firefox for about six months. I'm a MacBook user with the most recent version of Sonoma installed. After a month or so of using Firefox it starts crashing and freezing. Sometimes I can't restart it for several minutes. Whenever this happens, I refresh it. I've refreshed it about twice. I've re-installed it twice too, but it keeps happening. Most settings are default, but I wanted to include the settings in case this could be the problem: - I've turned off Firefox home content - I've turned off all passwords and autofill features - Never Remember History - Do Not Track and Tell Websites not to share/sell my data are turned on - I left the standard-level security settings as is

I have one extension installed.

The only other browser I have installed is Safari and I am not having these issues. I should add that I don't receive any error messages when this happens, it just freezes. The most recent issue is that I was clicking on buttons on a website and it wasn't working, but when I started using the Safari browser (which also set to private mode) it worked fine.

When it works I love Firefox and would like to keep using it. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this.

Hello, I have Webmail by Godday. I have been using Thunderbird for many years to connect to my accounts without issue. Past couple days I get an error message saying it can't connect to the server. Godaddy says they haven't changed anything. I can log in on Webmail but not with Thunderbird. Thunderbird brings up my mail from before it couldn't log in so I have all my stuff I have saved but I can't get new mail or send mail. I deleted Cache, restarted and all that... Disabled add-ons in trouble shooting mode. Here is what I got. Much appreciated

Recent issue, April 2024. Had version 124 Firefox on Win10 computer and went to Help - > About to have Firefox check for updates. This has worked just fine up until now. The message "Failed to check for updates." is shown in the About screen. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox with the same results. Have also un-installed Firefox, un-installed Mozilla Maintenance, then removed Firefox data from App Data folder in user directory, then re-installed with the same results. Also, now when I access a local media server, I keep getting the message "Firefox is installing components needed" and that never goes away. Any ideas?

Hi I am a longtime user of your browser. I have version 124.0.2(64 bit) installed on three devices. First thing I do on opening it is to click on "about", which normally updates the browser, before I do any browsing. In the last three weeks, however, it has not updated on any of the three devices, rather, it says "Failed to check for updates". I have tried the workarounds suggested at your Help center, and nothing has worked. What gives, may I ask? Thank you

Along with most of the world, I hate threads. My normal practice is to keep only the last email in a thread quoting all the contributions, and to delete the rest. Then I have one email with everything about that in it, with a history trail. I've done this for years and years. Then, some time last year, after an update of Thunderbird, everything was in threads. Someone replies to my message, and the thread goes missing from Sent, and appears in Inbox, but not marked as unread - you only see this when you expand the thread. If you reply, it jumps back into Sent. Finding anything is now a time-consuming nightmare. But there also appears to be at least one bug.

Suppose I now go into a thread and delete an intervening email. Thunderbird clears the preview panel of emails. If I click on Sent then back in Inbox, they reappear! But if I'm now confused as to exactly what that delete did to how many emails, I click Edit / Undo Delete. What it seemed to do tonight when I hit the Delete was get rid of a big chunk of the large thread, including some emails I hadn't read yet, and some not in this or other threads! They are not in the Deleted folder - they are gone! I think it has also done this before. What a mess! As for evidence, reproducing it is not something I want to do.

Recently Firefox always has the error "failed to check for update". I have tried restarting my pc and running as admin. I am on windows 10.

I have been able to manually install the latest version by installing it over the top of my current install, how can I fix the error to be sure that my browser will auto update?

I just lost several hundred tabs on Firefox mobile right after it updated itself. The most recent tabs show only ten of those tabs, which were all opened and closed today and aren't part of what I need to restore.

How do I get my tabs back? I've seen no 'restore previous session' option. My laptop only shows the few I have open now. What do I do to restore them?

I have firefox updates set to auto. But I want them to load updates when im not using the browser. What currently happens is I open the browser only to get shanghaid by the update process. I dont want that. when I open the browser I want to go straight to what i am doing. I dont want to have to sit there and wait while the browser updates. If it did updates once a month or less it wouldnt be such an issue but the damn browser is updating every few days or even every day and it always wants to do it when I want to do my own work. IS there not a way for the browser to update while im asleep at 3 am? When Im not wanting to use it. Its so irritating. It causes me to not bother with updates. I dont want to comply. When IM given a choice for any updating I set updates to install in the early hours when Im not inconvenienced by it. How can I do this with firefox?

Thru Firefox, I use Tineye to find related photos - I use it all the time, it's been great - I always use a VPN and have never had problems until now (as of yesterday). Now it won't search, a verify you're human window comes up, and I have to keep clicking squares, which I do - but then it says to allow cookies and start over. Well I don't want to allow cookies (I assume it's one of the options I have thru Firefox to block cookies), and I can't find where to allow cookies even if I did (I went to Firefox preferences etc) and I don't want to disable my VPN. Maybe I should mention that I just added or started a Mozilla account, as I have had immense trouble with my aol emails, and am trying to move everything over to a gmail account. My sign in to Firefox was the aol email, and I had to (try, I thought I did it) add another account, which I think I did successfully. So it was right after that, that all this started. Help please! I have Windows 11 and Firefox 124.0.2. Firefox keeps asking to reinstall. I think it is because I keep getting the message that it fails to check for updates. I don't know if I have installed the Microsoft Firefox or the direct Mozilla Firefox downloaded. Maybe that is the problem, but I am not tech savvy. I have used Firefox for many years and like it. I am also too old (83) to deal with these problems. Help!

When I go to update Firefox through the settings > general > firefox updates > check for updates, I am getting the error in the title. I can manually download the app installer and update to the most current version which is what I did for version 125.0.1, yesterday.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, installing the beta branch, refreshing firefox, running in troubleshooting mode, completely deleting all user firefox files, and I still get the error. No DNS resolver issues to the update server. No firewall issues. No network blocking (tested with other devices).

This issue started after March update to 124.0.1 and continues to current stable release 125.0.1.

This issue also seems to extend to checking for extension updates.

something apparently got corrupted in firefox.. i tried running update and i keep getting failed to update.. i have refreshed.. i have uninstalled and reinstalled ...nothing. i am sure there is a folder or file somewhere that is corrupted and i cannnot find it. because even when i uninstall and reinstall fresh. all my bookmarks are there .. how to i start a TRUE NEW install??

Hey, so, I've seen this question a couple times when I searched, but (a) there didn't seem to be any solution and (b) they were all regarding Macs and I'm on Windows 11 v 23H2. I keep getting bubbles saying that Firefox wasn't able to check for updates- not that it couldn't download or install updates, but it couldn't search for one. I also did the "about Firefox" thing and it gives me the same message. Both of these have been going on for a couple days and I have attempted restarting Firefox multiple times and did a manual update [125.0.1 (64-bit)] just in case there was a problem there. Now, I've tried the tips from the other threads (turning off the proxy, checking any anti-update policies, and checking the add.update.url in the config settings) with no luck. So in an effort to either bump the question or get any Windows oriented answers... Thanks muchly
