I cannot sync my firefox after a format of my HDD. I am synced on my android phone, but cannot get a reset password for my account. I cannot get to my addons nor bookmarks. Reset does not work, new account on my email doesnt do either. "Attempt limit exceeded." is all I get from firefox. I am one step from getting rid of it after many, many years of our relationship. I pitty that firefox is getting slower and slower, I get more and more problems, and still hang on to it. Today I couldt find any useful help. Its quite disturbing. Maybe it has come to "Attempt limit exceeded."?

Please help.

Before Firefox 29 I could tell my devices to copy all tabs, bookmarks, passwords,and history from Device A to Device B. THAT is what Sync used to be. Firefox 29 took away that functionality. I used to be able to flawlessly keep two other devices synced up with my main device. Now we have no control over our Sync accounts and it does nothing to Sync devices after you get the "Setup complete" graphic.

So after years of flawless Sync functionality, now all Sync does is nothing.

Mozilla took away functionality from their product. That is the issue I would like someone to address: bring back to Sync the ability to tell my devices to copy all tabs, bookmarks, passwords, and history from Device A to Device B.

Since upgrading to FF29 I get a lot of untrusted connection errors on my work PC which is behind a firewall. These error messages sometimes show the technical details (e.g. plus.google.com uses an invalid security certificate.) but there is no "I know the risks" option provided to bypass and add an exception. I've seen the response about framed windows, but for sites like plus.google.com there isn't a framed window; right clicking doesn't give a "This Frame" menu item. I've deleted the cert8.db file as well, and that didn't resolve the issue.

I can't access much of google. I can't play YouTube HTML5 videos, though I was able to work through the HTML source to at least get the CSS file to load as even that was failing initially. I cannot load the accuweather site, though that doesn't seem to use https and so may be unrelated. I had no problems with any of these sites before upgrading to 29.

I saved a webpage as PDF. The name of the file is showpost.php.pdf. The file name does not include any part of the name of the URL. Thus, it would be difficult to distinguish between PDF files. Should the name of the PDF file include the URL?

QuickOffice, which is preinstalled in Gingerbread could not open the PDF. I downloaded two open source PDF viewers from open source repository f-droid.org: VuDroid and APV PDF. Neither could open the PDF.

I booted to a live PCLinuxOS FullMonty CD. Evince Document Viewer, Foxit Reader, PDFedit, PDFMod, and PDFChain could not open the PDF file.

I did not try Adobe Reader because Adobe Reader is proprietary. It is not open source. Furthermore, a google account is required to download apps from Google Play. I do not want a Google account.

How come open source PDF viewers cannot open a PDF created by a formerly open source browser? Firefox will no longer be open source because it will have DRM.

I am grateful for the fact of Mozilla and I use Twitter a lot.

Although I am not technically competent, I do have experience of using Mozilla and Thunderbird for quite some years and am willing to share my experience.

I obviously do not want to make matters worse for questioners and need some advice about how to begin.

Is there a Forum where Folk such as me can share experiences of answering Tweets and also just be given examples how the system works, please, or might it be better for me to resign before I start rather than cause complications for anyone?

I have two computers. One is Windows 7 and the other Windows 8.1. On the 7, I get to the point where the screen shows Welcome to Sync with a blue manage button and a small window in the right corner that says Sync Enabled: Firefox will begin syncing momentarily. And it has been that way for 10 minutes. It never indicates it is syncing.

On the Windows 8.1 computer, I cannot determine whether the sync account is the old one. There is no sync option in the menu button. When I go to Tools/Sync Now nothing happens. Under the options/sync tab there is NO option to Unlink this device.

So I can't tell if I have the old sync program and couldn't unlink if I did. Meanwhile, nothing happens on either computer when I choose Sync Now.

If i log into our Corporate SharePoint server, i get 401 Unauthorized. The reason why is because when i go to the URL (local FQDN), this version of firefox does not ask me for a username/password. It just goes right to 401 Unauthorized.

I need to make firefox ask me for a user/pass.

I have searched the forums and cannot find anything. I have tried to changed the privacy settings under preferences for the History, and when i change it to "Use Custom Settings for History", when i restart firefox, its changed back to "Remember History"

This has caused our company a lot of grief when they all updated to this latest version and now no one can login. We have told them to use a different browser for now.

This use to work in all previous versions of FireFox.

who had applied to a dating website but was waiting for approval and not yet a member. When I asked him how he got my personal email account which was NOT on there, he said that his "detector" told him. When asked for details this was his reply...

"I don't know how it works but my mozilla fire fox gave me an email address which was the same as your username of the site, So I think it just added the (my email provider) to your username that what I had and decided to message you."

Since Mozilla (I found this out when it was so difficult to find that contact us, was NO contact and found it difficult to find how to post a question and register) a basically self service site how did he do this? Is there a way one can delete the information from Firefox. I have a google chrome book and thus have not used Mozilla for years.

I am probably posting this on the wrong place in the forum from the trouble shooting answers i'm getting but don't know where else to post this.

I often get fed up with firefox, the only reason I stay with it is because of the 3rd party plugins, but this is a step too far.

I am so seriously pissed off with Mozilla Firefox, not just because of the new design but the complete lack of respect for your users.

I got a message saying that there was an important security update, it did NOT NOT NOT warn me that it intended to install a completely redesigned application.

Have you guys heard of change control management?

I am in the middle of working and I spend 15 hours a day online, now i have to figure out this AWFUL user interface.

I guess this is what you get when you have a bunch of amateurs developing software.

So what was it, did not one person in Mozilla figure NOT out that you need to tell users that an upgrade includes a serious change in UI or worse still did you know and think FFF..orget them we will just do it and tell them it is a security update.

Rather than creating this terrible user interface you should have focused on the biggest problem with Firefox MEMORY and CPU usage with the ability of users to figure out which tab is using memory or CPU,

If I had wanted a Google Chrome clone I would have installed Google Chrome, but I hate the Chrome interface. Do you not know that Google are the worst company in the world at designing a UI, their email is rubbish, the new adwords Keyword Planner should be used in schools and colleges as a "how NOT to design software"

What pisses me off is that you have the arrogance to think that you can just bulldoze over your userbase. If I were local I would come to your office ask which bright spark was in charge of this and punch them in the face.

well if you do that with me I will raise this on every blog related to Firefox. I wonder if there is any interest in creating a fork in the development?

I do not want to have to install an old version, I have a lot invested in my Firefox user interface which has been completely screwed up by this update. In addition to this I can't move the address bar and put it next to the menu and I can't move the tabs below the menus and toolbars.

You have also screwed up my colorful tabs which I need because of sight issues.

In future can you PLEASE respect your users by doing the following:

1. Do NOT install UI changes without informing the user and giving them a choice 2. ALWAYS include a feature to stick with the old UI 3. Allow users to stick with the old UI and still get REAL security updates.

I am so angry with you right now!

Attempting to upload file via yahoo mail or gmail to no avail. As soon as I click on upload file in either mail system Firefox hangs, cannot drag and drop either - must force quit to continue.

Any click in File Upload hangs Firefox.

Troubleshooting so far: Firefox safe mode Deselected hardware accelerator Firefox reset Other browsers do not work either - Safari or Chrome. Updated plug-ins Updated MAC Cleared download history OSX safe mode Ran TSM adware cleaner

I used to stand by firefox; now I've been forced to use Google Chrome; which is insanely xxxxxx compared to Firefox (That is, when Firefox ISN'T A xxxxxxx UNRESPONSIVE BLACKHOLE THAT RUINS MY BRAND NEW COMPUTER).

I when I click on a file in Firefox, nothing happens and when I look in my downloads folder, the files say file. I was able to download files yesterday and I don't think I did anything to the settings. It happens with both files that are emailed to me and files on websites. I have tried everything in the Cannot Download or Save Files article so please don't post a link to that. Nothing worked, not even a reset. I would try scanning my computer for malware, but I CAN'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING. I'm pretty sure this is a problem with Firefox since I am able to download and save files in Safari. I would just use another browser, but all my passwords, bookmarks, etc. are saved in Firefox. This is a very frustrating problem since people send me numerous files everyday that I have no way of viewing!

I have recently deleted my history, but in the location bar, all my history keeps coming up. It's deleted from the history toolbar, because it only says today.

The location bar include my bookmarks, and the history that I've deleted and it's as if I haven't deleted my history at all.

Strangely, in Options - Privacy and Location Bar, if I choose suggest: History, it doesn't come up with any of my deleted history, only from today. If I choose Bookmarks, it only comes up with the bookmarks. However, when I use History and Bookmarks, it comes up with all my deleted history. I would like to use the History and Bookmark option.

How can I make it so that Firefox doesn't remember any of my previous history at all and use the History and Bookmark option for the location bar?

I'm running the latest version of Firefox (as of 3 Oct 2014-- can't check which version because I can't figure out which button to press-- see question) on Windows 8.1. I haven't closed the browser but suddenly ALL icons have disappeared. If I click on the blank spaces, the functions will still work (e.g. I can still close a tab), but I cannot see the following: Reload, Home, etc. buttons; Bookmark folder icons; Any of the icons in the Settings tab; Exes in the upper right-hand corner of the tabs; Favicons.

I can't open a new window. I can't select preferences. I can't shut it down even when I try to force quit. Going to the finder and shutting down does not work. This prevents me from shutting down my computer.

We are trying to create a lockdown in Ubuntu where users are only allowed to use firefox without being able to print, edit/open settings, and are only allowed to use the extensions already installed by us (Java). In order to do this we created a new session in /usr/share/xsessions

[Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=Kiosk Mode Comment=Firefox Kiosk Mode Exec=/usr/bin/firefox -height 900 -width 1440 Type=Application

When we start in this session, everything seems to work fine. Firefox starts, no menu's in the background. When firefox is closed, the session is closed too. With this session somehow the menu's cannot be opened with the mouse, but keyboard shortcuts still work.

But the real problem is that the users need to go to a certain site which is using dropdown menu's. The problem is that when we use this session, users cannot open the dropdown menu's. They can only select an option by selecting the dropdown menu and use the arrows on the keyboard. We want them to be able to use the mouse to select an option in the dropdown.

We are using Ubuntu 14.04.1 with Mozilla Firefox 32.0.3.

Edit: In order to test this problem, I created a new virtual environment with the same session, but a new Firefox profile and no extensions. This gave exactly the same problem.
