Using Thunderbird 68.2.2 and New Mail notification pop-up is not showing the sender, subject or the message preview. All three boxes are ticked in the customization option, but the pop-up just says 'new email' Mozilla Thunderbird,and my email address. I'm using Windows 10.

For some reason, my Firefox theme and Search box options reset themselves today. There was no issue yesterday, and I have not updated Firefox, extensions, plugins or Windows or anything else since then. Bookmarks/Top Sites are all as before, and restarting my machine and Firefox made no difference. I also over-saved the search settings file in my Firefox profile, but that has made no difference either.
Any ideas why this has happened?

Sharepoint offers links of the form ms-word:ofe|u|https://somebusinessname.sharepoint.com/sites/somesitename/somefilename.docx and firefox responds with the subject error message and cannot open the file in MS Word. IE, Edge and Chrome all behave correctly for this same sharepoint link on the same machine.

This feels like a fundamental feature I'm missing... Is it possible?

Hello, There used to be a difference between watching a video in fullscreen mode via firefox or having the browser itself in fullscreen mode. After updating from 70 to 71 I can only get the latter to work.
- Tried different video hosting sites it doesn't make a difference
- they are not flash videos (that plugin is permanently disabled in my browser)
When clicking e.g. on the little sign on the bottom right of a youtube video that used to put that video in fullscreen showing ONLY the video on my entire screen now I get the video with firefox tabbar and adressbar visible. Super annoying!
On another note I just got that "picture in picture" feature which isn't working at all, when i click on it a little window opens for a second only to be immediately closed again and clicking on the "pip-button" visible on the video has no function or effect anymore. Don't know if that's related at all. Really should know better than to update firefox I can't remember the last time I did without breaking something and spending hours or days trying to find a solution I'm just tired of it...

When I install Quantum fresh, my pages have a grey or light tan color in the background. If I copy over my User Locsl and roaming Mozilla folders from a prior install the colors revert back to the (lighter) backgrounds closer to a white.
Is the a particular file that controls screen colors in Firefox so that I do not have to copy over the entire folders?

I followed the mail merge instructions last Christmas and had no problems. This year, I can't get anything in mail merge to work. First, I downloaded the latest TB and mail merge add-on versions. When I try to use mail merge, first I don't see the "Format" box that's shown in all the instructions. Secondly, when I use the .csv file I used last year (when it worked), I get an error message that is unintelligible to me, so it doesn't help me in solving or addressing the problem. The error is: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8050000e (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_INPUT) [nsIConverterInputStream.readString]" nsresult: "0x8050000e (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_INPUT)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://mailmerge/content/utils.js :: csv :: line 365" data: no]. When I use a smaller subset of the data, it doesn't work either, so I don't know where to begin. I am simply trying to forward a Holiday ecard to our customers, but mail merge does not create emails with the image of the card at all. Any ideas?

I have several gmail addresses that I just got back from being locked out of because of little use. When I get an incoming to these gmail's, and I reply, the reply address is my non-gmail address. I have to click the box and change it to the gmail address before sending. These are on the imap, the ones that work right are pop. What am I missing here? When I first got these addresses, TB set them up, but I can't figure out how to get the right "from" in these emails.

I am connecting to my network solutions email account using IMAP. I have generated some filters with large numbers of attributes using the quickfilters addin, with the option to prevent creation of duplicate filter. With this option it adds attributes to the existing filter. So the syntax of the filter looks ok. However firefox does not run the filter against all existing messages in the inbox if I run it against that. Also, the filter does not seem to filter all new messages that come into my inbox.. only some .. strange behavior .

When I type a few characters into the url bar, I see a list of completions from sites I've visited before, and the completion from the top match is highlighted in the URL bar. For example, if I type 'ny' into the search bar, I see a list of sites pop up with 'ny' in the url, and the URL bar itself now contains the original 'ny' characters followed by a highlighted string of 'times.com' since that's the site with nt in it that I've visited the most. So far, so good. The problem comes when I press <enter> however. Instead of taking me to the New York Times website as I intended, the browser reacts as if I only typed in ny in the search bar and hit <enter>, and it ignores the auto-suggestions that it just displayed. (In this case, it takes me to ny.com, which is not what I want). How do I get <enter> key presses to go to the completed url? I can't open Files from Firefox on a Windows Terminal Server. Whenever I try to open a downloaded file by clicking on it (or specifying "open with" on the download Dialog) nothing gets opened and no errors are shown.
Usually it opens the default program specified in Windows but on 2 Terminal Servers nothing opens.
What I tried so far:
- Check filetype associations in Windows and testet it on a cmd and the windows explorer: works as expected
- Try with different Windows Users: Problem is present across different windows users
- Try with a new firefox profile: Same problem
- Try with firefox.exe -safe-mode: Same problem
- Try resetting handlers.json (by moving from the Firefox installation directory)
Do you have any ideas how to investigate this further?
I know that it worked previously. Could this be caused by a Update of Firefox?

When writing in a field, misspelled words should be marked. It works but also parts of words that are not misspelled are also highlighted. If I write a statistic as an example, it is marked in the quotation marks "tatistic". The word is spelled correctly, but parts of the word are still highlighted. As I write this text, 70% of parts of the words are misspelled. The whole words are not marked, only parts of them. When I select the correct word to replace the wrong s "tatistic" it is like this: sstatistic. You can no longer use the spelling because it becomes so marked that I do not see what is misspelled. This problem started when version 71.0 was installed. I use Swedish language and test switching to other dictionaries but the same error continues. What to do about this?
I send emails but I don't see them in the sent folder, spam or trash. They have disappeared.

Hi, I am using Thunderbird 68.3.0 (64bit), lately I do have few email I have sent that are not saved as I do not see them in the sent folder. they are not in the Spam nor in the trash. They simply disappear. I do use Thunderbird with Gmail business. I have done all controls Google requested (checking filter, spam, rules) but they are all OK: I getting mad. Could you help me? We have a terminalserver environment on the base of Windows Server 2016 and since the update to Firefox esr 68.2 the users frequently get a popup with the message in the title (see screenshot). This message pops up even though we disabled automatic updates through about:config and the Firefox Group Policies.
We even tried a few not officialy supported solutions like renaming the update.exe or altering the update url in about:config to a non existant domain but nothing worked.
Is there any way to disable this message being displayed to the users?
Please do not just post "just update to the newest version". That is not always immediately possible in an enterprise environment.
