the activity monitor on my mac shows cpu usage at almost 100% when firefox is active. with safari cpu @ about 15% or less. seems to slow the mac considerably. how to fix?

Tabs to not reliably reopen after closing Firefox. The latest occurrence, but not the only one, was after updating macOS 13 on a Mac Mini M1 using current version of FireFox.

I have read multiple help pages and double and triple checked settings. My work around has been to Bookmark All Open Tabs each time I close FireFox or shutdown the Mac - doable but a nuisance.

Hi, By accident I changed a setting somewhare and now I can't share screen when using Google meets. I use a MacBook Air M2 2022 and run version Ventura 13.4 and Firefox version 113.0.2. I have googled the problem and had help from Apple support so I have already; - checked settings in my Mac - checked settings in Google Meet - deleted cash memory in Firefox - rebooting my computor - run Google Meet in Safari and screen sharing works

I don't dare to reinstall Firefox because then I will lose lots of data. What have I not done that this community could help me understand.

I am guessing this is a settings issue, but I cannot find a solution. I cannot see the social sharing icons on my website when in Firefox on my Mac. I can see them in Safari. What's the deal?

Hi I'm on Ios I forgot a password so went to keychain access where I can normally find saved passwords. It wasn't there. I then went to Firefox preferences and found it there, for copying. There was no password required. That means if I leave my computer on and someone comes past, they can look at saved passwords, and that is a real security issue. I may stop using firefox because of this. Is there a setting to make it more secure? Cheers Martin

Hi all, I'm having an issue that I've seen mentioned over several years and without a workable solution - I'm at the point of having to transfer all my browser usage to chrome and abandon my beloved firefox. The issue has been 'answered' by advanced users to tell people to 'inspect' which font is the issue then check local systems font book for corrupted/duplicate fonts: however this is not a satisfactory response. Context: see screen shot attached for what the jibberish looks like, and a point in the 'inspect' view that I believe (guessing) is involved. System: Firefox 112.0.2 (64-bit), MacOS 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a) on Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2020, 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5). This same websites do not have any issue on the same computer viewed on Chrome or Safari. Nor is there any problem on my iPhone on the iOS firefox browser.

Firstly this is not a user-friendly solution for most people, I'm afraid. Opening the inspect viewer is mindboggling for anyone who doesn't code and even for people who do some programming but not for websites (like me), it isn't exactly self-explanatory. I think I've managing to find examples that indicate 'Roboto' seems to be consistently involved in the display issue. Secondly, the step for 'fixing' the font that is the culprit - my local system indicates that all fonts are valid and there are no duplicates. I haven't installed manually Roboto as I'm uncertain where to 'safely' get the font from and my computer is owned and managed by my workplace - with overly strict administration/security rules so if I f-up a download of something dodgy my IT service will blacklist me and revoke my admin access... ** which would mean I'd be unable to do my job!**. I wondered if perhaps there is some security setting due to that, which stops website from loading the fonts they choose? From previous 'solutions' it said that having Firefox preference set to "allow websites to choose their own fonts..." should mean the websites can load as needed. If indeed I must manually download fonts for each and every instance that Firefox fails to display text legibly that is equivalent to Firefox being unusable. I'm clearly frustrated and it's because I love FIrefox and the ethos behind it all so leaving for Chrome would be very sad indeed! Help and a solution for normal users would be so very much appreciated. Also where can I properly lodge this issue with peeps who fix things? There are issues of this kind going back years and for both Windows and Mac Systems so it's not a one-off problem but a recurring one! Hi, none of the virtual meeting applications (googlemeet, teams, etc.) are working on my firefox last version for OSX. The same in troubleshut mode. But it's fine on my Mac using Safari. I'm convinced that there is some configuration I touched in the last year as before I don't had this problem.

I want to download some files, but it always fails. I discovered this is because there is no selected download location, but when i click "Choose", it doesn't open a file selector, nothing.

When I add certificate exceptions, such as for my router's self-signed certificate, Firefox forgets the exception at seemingly random intervals. Often this happens in several days. In one case it was overnight. This has been going since at least early 2023, probably a year.

In noticed Firefox also forgets settings like "allow popups" set on a site (like on Gmail for example), but not necessarily at the same time as certificate exceptions are forgotten. Other settings don't seem to be changed or forgotten.

These problems occur on different Macs using the same Mozilla account. Refreshing Firefox has made no difference.

My Thunderbird program froze when I was deleting a couple hundred or more emails at once. Now, every time I open it I get nothing but the spinning wait cursor, and all I can do is force quit the app. I am running Catalina 10.15.7 on my Mac. Is there anything I can do to solve this short of uninstalling the app and reinstalling it? I have archived emails that I don't want to lose. Thank you.

Hi, I had been using FF for about 3 years without any issues. Then today, the browser was refreshed updated (I dont know what the exact term is) but since the new browser I have lost all of my history, my saved websites, my extensions etc etc etc . I was under the impression that these can be retrieved, can they as I would really like to be able to reload all of my extensions, but this doesnt seem possible now. Can you advise, why this occured and how I can retrieve the lost information? Thankyou

Can someone help me find my old bookmarks that I have had for years? I followed directions posted but nothing is working. All of my history was cleared also. The toolbar folders are there but everything is empty

Hello volunteers -- I downloaded Thunderbird to a newer iMac. The Input messages and folders from my laptop appeared fine, but the addresses look like they are from Contacts rather than the laptop Address Book, i.e., names, phone numbers and postal addresses, but not email addresses. The first image (screenshot from an Apple laptop) is what I want; the second is what I got on the iMac. Is someone able to help me with this? Thanks very much, Susan

I have a new installation of Thunderbird running on Mac OS 13.5. The Received and Date fields are both showing incorrect dates. There doesn't seem to be a logical pattern to the dates being shown. I have emails from yesterday (7/28/23) that are showing dates from as 4/29/02. Emails from Monday (7/24/23) are now showing a date of 5/2/2023. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
