Been using Firefox for Android as my default browser for years now. It never used much data even though I would leave a dozen tabs open. Suddenly last week, Firefox started using up to 500 MB of data at a time. I figured this out when I got a notice from my service provider that I was about to go over my data limit. I usually use less than 1 GB of mobile data a month and haven't been doing anything unusual. Although it started while I was on a trip (but not using anything out of the ordinary), it continued when I got back.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, then tried leaving the app open with a couple tabs open to articles on reputable sites for ten minutes. It used as much data as Twitter did for 28 days and I use Twitter way more than Firefox. Also, now that I think of it, I've also been surprised at how fast my battery is getting used up. Maybe related? Thoughts? Do I have malware and if so, what should I do about it?

Thanks for any help!

I recently had to replace my phone. With the new installation of Firefox, I no longer have the option of choosing the destination directory of downloaded files. Previously, I had set it up to ask every time. Now I can't remember or figure out now to do that.

I have found many sites with instructions for how to set a new default directory and download to that default every time, but that isn't what I want. I want to choose every time.

I like Recommended by Pocket! Have tried on and off to access it on my Samsung Galaxy S 8. Just bought a Samsung Tab A 8". Can't access the option to turn it on there either. Thought it was because it was a mobile browser, but the button under Top Sites is there on a non-Samsung phone. Long chat with Samsung this AM. They say they are NOT blocking this option and to contact Firefox. Tab is model SM-T290 running Android version 9, Wifi only. Firefox is version 68.2.0. Phone is Galaxy S 8 SM-G950W running Android version 9. Firefox version 68.2.0. Anyone have any ideas.

Steps to reproduce:

On my Nexus 5P, running Android 8.1.0, Firefox for Android 68.2.0 (latest), No Add-ons, if I try to navigate to https://accounts.firefox.com or using the Settings->Sign In menu, the pages do NOT load.

Actual results:

Navigating to https://accounts.firefox.com gives me a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. Navigating to the Settings menu, and then clicking on "Sign In" takes me to about:accounts?action=signin&entrypoint=preferences, which never loads.

Expected results:

I should see a page with a username and password field so I can sign in.

On a newly setup Pixel 4 I installed Firefox for Android and connected it successfully to my Firefox account using my password, then my authenticator app (I had to switch from firefox to the authenticator then back to firefox) since I use 2FA. Then it gets stuck at a stage where it is not synchronized, and when I click on Sync now, it briefly says Syncing, then reverts back to the previous state where sync has never worked.

I've blacked out my name and email.

I tried disconnecting / reconnecting. Nothing changes. And by the way, Firefox Lockwise never ends syncing on the same phone, I'll open another ticket though.
