I am on windows 10. My Thunderbird was upgraded automatically from 91.11.0 to 102.0. I've lost all my emails, folders, accounts, and profiles, including Giganews (usenet). I tried re-installing TB 91.11.0 and restoring my profile folder, but I still cannot access my old folders, accounts, or profiles.

What did I do wrong? Is there any way to get back to a working Thunderbird? I have numerous backups of my old Thunderbird profile folder.

Stuck on "checking password"

I'm trying to add an e-mail account, and when having filled in all data it gets stuck on "checking password".

It's a standard encrypted IMAP account.

Importing Outlook File To Thunderbird Fails

I'm trying to import my .pst file from Outlook 2007 into Thunderbird v102.3.1 following the procedure outlined in the help area but it fails with "No profile found" - see… (читать ещё)

I'm trying to import my .pst file from Outlook 2007 into Thunderbird v102.3.1 following the procedure outlined in the help area but it fails with "No profile found" - see attached screenshot. I suspect that Thunderbird is expecting to find the .pst file in a location different to where it's stored. Where is it expecting to find it?

Or if that's not the reason any suggestion to fix the problem would be appreciated.

Trying to follow instructions for "Cannot delete messages." Steps 1-2 OK. Step 3 says "Open the Mail ... folder in your file manager ..." (I am POP Mail). How do I locate this folder ?

Cannot download messages to INBOX, cannot delete from TRASH, cannot compact INBOX or TRASH.

This may be a dumb question, but still need help (3rd request). In the writeup on "Cannot delete messages" there are instructions for creating a new TRASH folder to replace one that supposedly is "corrupt." The third instruction says to find MAP (POP) on file folder. How is this accomplished ?

Microsoft's Outlook Exchange mail utility has shut off POP access for email clients that utilize 'Basic Authentication." This means I can't communicate from home using Windows Live Mail or Outlook 2010 with others at my work who are all on the company's Outlook Exchange. Will the latest version of Thunderbird work for me in this regard? Thanks!

Upgrading from 91.13.1 to 102.4.0 - I am using POP. Lost my folders! I have a full backup of the 91.13.1 profile, but when I restore the backup to the current profile under the same profile name (my usual method for moving my data from computer to computer) the current version doesn't show the folders. How can I get them back?

The inbox and address book are there (but I also can't get the address bar to display either - a smaller problem).

Mp4 video not showing up on downloads and not even the file is opening

So I was downloading a video from a website and when I download it it says "Mp4 (1)/(2)/(3)..."in the notification but when the download finishes I can't find the file in… (читать ещё)

So I was downloading a video from a website and when I download it it says "Mp4 (1)/(2)/(3)..."in the notification but when the download finishes I can't find the file in the "downloads"section and when I find the file in the file manager it shows the file but when I click to open it it plays for a second or two then closes automatically

It's not the website's or the files fault since I can download the same file on chrome

Since the new Chrome changes I have tried to switch from Chrome to Firefox but this download problem is the only thing that's bugging me and keeping me from using Firefox as my default browser

Please if anyone has a solution to my problem, it is greatly appreciated

My thunderbird (windows 10 64bit) stopped working two days ago; I had not upgraded thunderbird or done anything that I can think of that would have caused this.

My local folder had emails which I would really (REALLY) hate to lose, so any help or advice would be sincerely appreciated.

I don't remember the version (possibly 91) of thunderbird. If someone can show me how to tell the version, I can let you know.

Symptoms: 1. when I start it, I have an empty folder pane, and no thread or message panes 2. the three lines icon in the upper right does nothing 3. the folders "..." does nothing 4. I was able to open the address book and tasks (all looks ok) 5. I was able to start creating a test email, but it would just stall trying to send it 6. the Menu bar seems to be functional

I immediately copied the Local Folders folder to another drive for safety, along with the AppData\roaming\thunderbird folder, and the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird folder.

I ran several antivirus scans of course (none), ran disk checks of all drives looking for any damage (none), I tried updating my windows 10 and drivers. None of these helped.

I tried restarting the apps several times with no success, and tried deleting the folders.json and sessions.json files from the profiles folder with no success (per other reports of similar issue).

I tried uninstalling thunderbird, and removing any thunderbird related folders, clearing the registry and then tried reinstalling the latest release (102.4.0). After setting up a single test gmail account, I still had the same symptoms as originally described (empty folder pane, and no thread or messages pane, etc).

I tried uninstalling that release, and tried installing other versions with no luck; 102.33, 91.9.1, 107.0.b2. Same symptoms as originally described.

With each different release installed, I setup a known working email account (since I can open them directly in a browser). Again, same symptoms as originally described

I also tried pointing the Tools | Account Settings | Local Folders to a copy of my original local folders.  I still don't see the Folders pane, but I can search for keywords and see some results.  But, I really don't know how many emails, of the many thousands, I actually have available; it looks like a small subset.

Please, if someone can offer help on recovering the Local Folder or help on showing my Folder and other Panes, I would sincerely appreciate it.

I try to install Firefox on a HP Z1 G8 desktop under Windows 11 Pro. The first time I get a warning that a .dll is not available or so (I dont know what this warning is precisely, becaus it pops up for 2 seconds only ) , and firefox is not well installed, reinstalling goes without warning, but still Firefox starts and then stay dead, no sites, no settings. I know the security in this computer is very thight, but other apps install without problem and functions.

Why Firefox cant be installed where other apps can ??????

I have two issues with Thunderbird that I would love some help to fix.

I got a new computer running Windows 11 Home, Version 21H2, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, with Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.1098.0.

I installed Thunderbird version 102.4.1. on my new computer. It launched and worked fine. I did not set up any email accounts. Thunderbird worked fine until I messed it up trying to bring over the "profile folder" from my old computer, in "Troubleshooting Thunderbird" menu selection, to my new computer in "Troubleshooting Thunderbird" menu selection and then in Explorer. Again my old computer is running Windows 10 Home version 21H1, 64 bit operating system, x64-based processor, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0. The line set up is not the same between Windows 10 and 11 in the "Troubleshooting Thunderbird" pull down menu selection. And the file menu path, and the file and folder names in Windows Explorer is different between Windows 10 and 11. I will explain how and why Thunderbird got messed up.

On my old computer, which is running Thunderbird version 102.4.0. I launched Thunderbird and clicked on "open", in "Thunderbird Troubleshooting" file menu, and then clicked on the Profile Folder line which brought me to Explorer . I then closed Thunderbird. I followed the instructions and went back 3 levels on the file path, in Explorer and copied the "Profiles" file and pasted it into my cloud. I then opened Thunderbird on my new computer and went to Troubleshooting and there is no "profile folder selection", like on my old computer. There was a "File History" selection, and just above that another file selection, but I do not remember the name, sorry. However I remembered it was a logical name to be a "Profile Folder" that might work, so I clicked on it and it opened File Explorer. I then closed thunderbird. I went back 3 levels on the file path in explorer, ( again this is in Thunderbird on the new computer), but there was no "profile" folder anywhere in the file path in Explorer. I copied the profile folder from my cloud and pasted it into the "program" file folder in Explorer. Then I tried to launch Thunderbird and it wouldn't load, but it displayed a dialog box that said "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I then went into Explorer and searched through folders trying to find the file I had pasted to. I also searched for a another file to paste it to, but couldn't find any folder, that was logical to use. I uninstalled Thunderbird and restarted my computer, and then reinstalled Thunderbird but it still wouldn't launch and still gave me the dialog box "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." So is there someone out there that can help me fix Thunderbird? PLEASE!!


The other thing I would love someone to help with is this. As I mentioned earlier, the file names and file paths in Windows 10 Home, are different from the file names and file paths in Explorer in Windows 11 Home. So I do not know where to paste the files "Profile "folder into Windows 11 Home. Also the display line names are different under the "Troubleshooting Thunderbird" menu selection, inside Thunderbird, between the Windows 10 Home and Window 11 Home. I need help figuring out what and where files and folders from 10, go into 11 in Explorer, to make Thunderbird transfer profiles, preferences, and set ups, migrate and work properly. So I think the online instructions might need to be updated, too. But there is also the possibility I just don't know what I am talking about or just totally missed something.
