Thunderbird 68.8 upgrade complains about profile, have to reinstall it every day

The rev 68.8 Thunderbird upgrade stops being able to read the existing profile, usually within 24 hours. (Windows 10, no custom profile. no custom anything). I get the pop-up box complaining about trying to read an old profile.

I can re-install Thunderbird, and then it works fine. And within another 24 hours, it stops working again.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

My next step is to completely remove Thunderbird (and all profiles), reboot, and reinstall from scratch. Um, have to back up local folders. Painful.

Hey, I need some help to save my older E-mails. What I did: Upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS in mid 2019.

before that I did not a propper migration because I didnt know it exists, but I saved 2 folders with Thunderbird on it. I dont know if I got the right ones because they are on different places, some seem to be hidden folders.

So.. one has this content thunderbird/etc The other one thunderbird/usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome, defaults, distribution, extensions ..... thunderbird/usr/lib/thunderbird-addons/ distribution, extensions.. thunderbird/usr/lib/.thunderbird/ Crash Reports, Pending Pings, ..

Mybe I have the wrong folder, maybe I got the right one but I cant find the e-mails in all the cryptic data.

can anyone help me with that please?


second problem I got is the updatebutton in Thunderbird doesn't work, so I had to install a new version and migrate everything to that new installation? Can't be the right solution.

My actual Version: 68.8.0 So no updates almost a year

My problem with Thunderbird is that some of my email boxes are not visible on the left pane. I have an iMac running OS 10.15.4. Background: The Thunderbird app got corrupted, I then: • exported the Thunderbird Profile files and saved it. • I Completely erased the Thunderbird app. • I newly downloaded and installed Thunderbird. • I checked and the app worked perfectly. • I followed instructions for importing the old profile, but only imported the email folders. They now show up within the new profile folder, but are not visible in the display pane. How can I make these imported folders become visible with the emails they contain? The instructions I’ve found are only for Windows PCs. Thank you for any help you can provide.
