Update to Thunderbird beta

I have used Thunderbird for several years and have saved 100's of emails in my Local Files area. I thought that meant they were actually in my machine. I guess that was incorrect. I just updated to Tbird beta today. It seems that all of those "saved" emails are now gone. I've been to the account Profile and they aren't there. Is there any other place to look? I couldn't find any APP DATA file. Any ideas where they might have gone or how to get them back?

I can't seem to access one website that I used to visit daily: www.leftwinglock.com

I have no issue with any other site that I visit daily, and my co-workers are able to access that site so it is not down.

Is there something in my settings that is preventing me from viewing this site now?

For the last 3 days, all emails I send to an outlook address are bounced. Multi address mails are received by the others but if the recipient is an outlook address those all are undelivered. My ISP says this is a Thunderbird issue. When I sent the emails from my ISP's email webpage the outlook mails are delivered.

A few web sites I've ordered from for many years have been getting annoyingly buggy, to the point where I've had to resort to phone or chat to get the order through. Issues have included not accepting the security code on a credit card, changing the order or price when it shows in the cart, suddenly disappearing the payment page... Etc. Some of this is (I think) just recent silly software changes (maybe). When I ask what the problem is, customer service rep asks what browser I use; when I say Firefox, they indicate they're optimized for/more familiar with Edge or Chrome. Is this something other users are running into? Can't believe it's just me.....Guessing you might be able to get some hints from what's below?

I had to reset my primary password. Now the new password is not being accepted. And I keep getting a pop-up asking for the password. What can I do to have my password accepted?

I already tried to un-check "use primary password" in settings but cannot accomplish that with a password that is rejected.

Their are some fixes but they are like from three to five years ago. And it's not for the current version of FF. What is going on? Why can I no longer change the book mark size? I have a desktop.

Is there a way to use the default xfce windows instead of firefox`s own? I mean I have my own setting in the xfce window manager that are not applyed to firefox. fo example: I unchecked Raise windows when clicking inside application window, that is not applyed to firefox, I also have a context menu when right clicking on other windows title bars that I can customize, In firefox I have something total else.

I'm on an iMac desktop using OS X 10.7.5 running Firefox Legacy as my browser, and I have Norton Internet Security running as well.

Lately I'm getting the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" message.

This is my personal computer since I bought it in 2012 and it's never been out of my house.

Quite a few websites refuse to load properly. Linkedin, for example. After entering the password, I can't get the actual web page to appear; all I get is a progress wheel running to infinity.

How do I change this "browser being managed" setting?

NOTE: I've searched and I don't have a policies/json file on my machine.

I can log in to accounts.firefox.com on Edge no problem, which is how I am posting this.

I've tried reinstalling firefox, refreshing firefox, running firefox in safe/troubleshooting mode, but no luck.

I am afraid that I am not at all happy with the new version of Thunderbird. It may be that as I get used to it I will find some of the new features helpful, but right now I am more concerned about what was taken away that was helpful:

  1. I keep getting 'not responding' -- especially when trying to set my theme 'yet again (and again, and again)!!!! I am mostly shut-in due to illness and the themes make a difference emotionally compared to a stark 'black and white'. Furthermore, what is the point of having TB themes when they don't hold -- I often have to re-set mine several times a day
  2. tabs are now hidden -- I need to colour-code messages so I know which I need to get back to soon or can wait. Having them hidden under that new right arrow makes extra steps to do so
  3. the row of custom colours no longer hold: what is the point of being able set a row of custom colour if they don't hold!!! I used different colours to indicate different response in a thread -- thereby having an immediate way to see the order of responses.
  4. I need layers of sub-folders -- often to add a new name to a group I belong to, or a new year. I have been asking again and again over several years for the ability to create a new sub-folder WHILE one is moving an email from the inbox to a folder or sub-folder. Having to 'go' to the folder first, make a new sub-subfolder, return to the inbox, and then move the email is an unnecessary waste of time.
  5. 'a picture says a thousand words' -- emojis are so useful in this way, especially when one is tired or can't think of the right words to say. This feature was taken away years ago, and I wish that TB would bring it back. The minimal 'yellow faces' are minimally useful.
  6. The 'signature switch' button is in the wrong place -- exactly where one would normally click to get back into TB after doing something in another program. It needs to be moved over to the left, or placed somewhere else.

It seems to me that the TB functions (at least the ones that I need) are getting less and less useful and increasing 'cognitive burden'.

Sorry to be so negative, but I do wonder who TB is trying to please/appease -- it is not this user.
