I have four Gmail accounts which I'm phasing out because of the absurd Google policies and convolutions. I've added four new accounts with another, my own mail hosting service. all the four Gmail accounts I have set to forward all to thee new accounts.
The problem is every time I start up Thunderbird it defaults stubbornly to the previous Gmail account which subsequently it cannot log in and for a password.
I tried everything, setting the other account as default account, unchecking server settings [i.e.check for new messages at start up].
Since I have much (downloaded) information still in subfolders that I need to access from time to time I have not yet deleted that account.
Nothing seems to work, every time I start Thunderbird it immediately goes to that previous default Gmail account and then prompts me for "mail server password required".
The strange thing is that the other remaining three Gmail accounts which have identical settings do not create a problem.
how can I make this stop for once and for all?
T-Bird stopped DLing my emails on 12/6/23. Emails are on the Centurylink server. POP3 account. Currently running 115.5.1 (64 bit)

3rd post - it would be nice to get a response. I cannot send emaIL FROM THIS WIN 10 FULLY UPDated APP. The error message as above appears all the time (and does not cancel after 1 hour or whatever). Email can be sent using the same smtp settings from various Android devices. Forum suggestions do not cure the problem.
This, along with all the other annoying glitches within T'bird, seem to be forcing me to abandon using T'bird after many, many years. Shame.

The other day TB updated and since then it has not connected to any of 3 smtp servers I have accounts on - google mail, yahoo mail, and my own domain mail. Before the update no problems, for years. A few minutes ago I installed the latest beta version and it has the same problems. But, I can go to the 3 different accounts' webmail and get messages with no problems. I checked the server settings for my own domain email and nothing has changed. What happens is when it starts checking for messages it never stops or it might time out and it can't connect to the smtp server, but not every time. I have restarted TB in troubleshooting mode and it continues with the same problem. I also used the clear startup cache option still to no avail.
I'm using Win11, TB 102.3.2 (64bit).
