I am posting this discussion because i am amazed at the fact that I cannot find an email client that is able to appropriately handle calendar invitations to/from myself for multiple email addresses and associated calendars.

With Outlook, my issue is that Outlook views my Exchange account as the default calendar account, so that when I accept an appointment to any other non-Exchange account (eg IMAP), the person who sent the invitation gets an 'accept' email from my exchange email address, and not from the email address to which he/she sent the invitation. This looks very unprofessional.

Thunderbird works better and allows for calendars to be matched to email addresses, but has a bug with accepting calendar invites that still has not been resolved: https://bugs.horde.org/ticket/13664

Is anyone aware of an email client for Windows that is able to appropriately handle multiple email accounts (exchange, imap, etc) and associated calendars (exchange, caldav, etc)?

I use Google calendar, which supports tasks and I get the message "Please select a calendar that supports tasks" in the today pane under the tasks window after I eliminated the Google calendar provider add-on. All the menu items for tasks are greyed out. Google calendar supports tasks. When will this be fixed?

I am probably trying to do something very stupid or it has a very obvious solution, but please bear with me. It seems my Thunderbird install, version 91.1.8 and now updated to 91.9.0, Win10, does not have a calendar function whatsoever. I tried to find the setup of calendar in every menu available. I have been running and updating this install for some time. For some reason , the outlook calendar satisfied me until now, but I am no more satisfied with the inefficient reminders. - it is not in the account setup - there is no calendar icon anywhere - it seems impossible to add the lightning extension to Thunderbird, as it is now supposedly included in TB: but where? Any hint?

I can't see anymore if an email contains an .ics file. It showed a notification about asking what to do, but I clicked "More" -> "Not ask again" (or something like that) And now I can't find where I can show again this notification in the email header.

(As well if you know how I can download the .ics file like any other attachment would be really helpful, currently it doesn't show it)

When I myself create a calendar event from scratch, I can edit it any time, via right mouse click/edit, or double click/click edit. I can edit this data anytime, both still while adding it the first time, or also after saving at any later time point.

In contrast, when I put an event in my calendar via mail invitation and clicking "accept", it shows up in my calenar, but I cannot modify it. On right click, "edit" is grayed out, and on double click, there is no edit field to click.

I'd like to e.g. set a category (like "travel" to be able to visually mark dates that need preparation, modify its name to be more specific, or add descripton text, e.g. the link for the video conference so that I have it available directly when it starts).

What I have tried so far:

• unaccept it, but still I cannot edit it via right or double click.
• copy and paste it as a new entry, but the problem persists

I use Thunderbird 91.9.0 now, but the problem exists for quite a while.

Hallo, i've updated my Thunderbird to 91.8.1 on my Kubuntu 18.04 Lini9x machine. I have some *.ics files attached as calendars via ftp (ftp://192.168.1.1/Kalender/xxx.ics). After the update Thunderbird/Lightning tries to open them in firefox.

Every time Thunderbird/Lightning syncronises the calendars, different tabs occur in Firefox trying to open the files. Thanks a lot in advance, Gruß

The answer I found is pretty obvious, one has to search at "Options/Calendar/Categories".

But where do I find the "Calendar" section? Even using the search engine on the option page doesn't show any results.

Very frustrating... A picture of the location would be very helpful.

I'm not seeing my task lists in the Google calendar list when I add a new calendar. I still have the Provider add-on installed but it seems to be bypassed by the internal TB add calendar functionality. That is I don't see an add Google Calendar option any more only Computer and Network. Using Network and my gmail email address I get shown my Google calendars but not my task lists. I would like TB to catch up with tasks but can wait. Or am I missing some thing?

BTW I tried Mailbird and it shows me all my Google calendars and task lists, but its expensive so not an option.

Today, I noticed that I can no longer get to the Calendar & Task Tabs in my TBird 91.9.0 running in Win 11 Insider Beta Channel. In View, both Calendar & Tasks are grayed out (see pic). The Today Pane does display events, but no tasks.

I created a new profile, but things are worse…there are no selections for Calendar or Tasks in View. I followed the instructions about deleting the extensions.installedAddOn… and restarting, but no luck.

Unfortunately, I don't know when it broke. I did install 91.9.0 recently, but I didn't notice if Calendar was working. The Today pane has been working, though.

This is working on my two Win 10 systems, both also at 91.9.0.

I'm pretty technical, so no need to edit.

When I opened the Thunderbird Calendar this morning 99% of information, appointments, meetings, birthdays, etc. are missing. The Monthly view shows one or two events, the rest of the days are blank.

I am using Thunderbird 91.9.1. I have imported several calendars from my google account which works really well. What does not work well is trying to import/show my google tasks, they simply appear nowhere. How I tried to import them: Calendar -> New Calendar... -> On the Network -> Entering my google account at Username -> after logging in, only my google calendars are shown, not the tasks.

What am I missing? Thanks!

I am evaluating TB and the integrated calendar. I had no problem installing mail and calendar in terms of synching, mailing, and receiving except one: The calendar page will not refresh unless I hit the Hide/Show eye icon next to the calendar. Sometimes it also shows if I toggle from Today to Week.

Calendar properties do not show any options at the bottom for refresh cycles (see attachment). Other specs are below.

This is a show stopper for me, since appointments that were transferred but not showing are of no use. Please advise.

Everything works fine before upgrading from v74 to v91. After upgrading to 91, all dates are 09:59 in the calendar (please see image.) Restoring to 74 and everything works fine again.

When accepting an appointment/import ics I get the error in the error console

Calendar: Couldn't find Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna

The meeting is sended from Outlook for Mac. I use Thunderbird 91 on Ubuntu 20.04

In or around TB 91.3.1 double-clicking on an event, you get a dialog box such as the attached. In order to edit the event, you have to hit the Edit button. In the past, TB would just open the event and allow you to edit it. If the event was recurring then, and only then, would a small dialog box come up to ask if you were editing just this event or all events. I see no advantage to this extra dialog box, especially for one-time-only events. It's just another unnecessary click of the mouse.

When I try to import an ics file into the Calendar I receive a message "Cannot import from Downloads/appointment.ics. There are no importable items in this file." I found some articles where the line endings were not correct, I checked they are OK. I checked for invalid characters, there are none. So how I import the ICS file? What is not correct in the file? I am running Thunderbird on Linux, using version 91.4.1 (64-bit). My OS is set to use a 12 hour clock, yet all times in Thunderbird use a 24 hour clock. I checked out the help article, and it seemed to indicate having the locale set to English (United States) in preferences should get me the 12 hour clock, but both Application locale and Regional settings locale show that option. Switching does not change anything. I tried looking in the config editor, but I was unable to locate any of the settings to change time formats mentioned in the help article.

Why is Thunderbird stuck on a 24 hour clock?
