This is NOT about auto-fill. For at least a month now, Firefox has not been recognizing forms on a variety of websites. This morning I was looking at a clothing website, but no matter what I did, I could not enter a size and then choose a color for any items. I opened another browser, and the website worked fine. I just tried to renew library books, and again, in Firefox, nothing I tried to do on the website worked. In another browser, the website worked fine. I have filled out almost an entire form on some websites, and then one box that I must fill out ("state" for example) doesn't work, and I can't complete the form. In another browser, the website form works fine. What's going on? I am updated with the latest version. This is happening on at least two computers.

Logins and passwords are sorted alphabetically by the URL. I would like to be able to give the entry a name that makes it easier to find. For example, the Website for my bank is olb.xxxxx.com rather than the name of the institution. Other entries may be more obscure. I think Lockwise would be easier to use with this feature. I am trying to see if I can transition from a different password manager add-on. At this point, it was much easier to use the other add-on for both sites/passwords AND for bookmarks. Everything was in one place and I could apply names that made sense.

Thanks!

Hi,

I tried to move a folder but it had a stop-sign but I released the mouse button and the folder was gone, I figured it would simply leave it where it was. now the folder is neither in its old nor in the location i wanted to put it in. If I search for emails within that folder, results still come up but when i click on the email it shows another search page with no results... can I still somehow restore these emails? what could have caused this? this also deleted the emails from my imap-email so i cannot recover them from there they are also not to be found in any trash folder, neither locally nor remotely on the server

Thunderbird worked very well for about 9 months after I installed it and moved over from Windows Live Mail, which had been getting very problematic. But now, pretty much all of a sudden, Thunderbird started acting erratically, slow to shutdown, and finally it won't get or send emails on my gmail account. The comcast.net account seems to work fine, but despite it showing itself in contact with imap.gmail.whatever it is, no emails come down. My gmail account works fine on the gmail website itself, and also on my iPhone.

I have checked and all of the settings are correct, Thunderbird has clearance to penetrate the Windows Firewall, and the "run non-secure apps" is set up on Gmail. I have tried changing the settings to password and back to OAuth, and a few other things like erasing the gmail account and re creating it. The latter worked for half a day, and then first the sending of gmails quit, followed quickly by the receiving of gmails.

I have many folders in Thunderbird (and I think also in Gmail itself) that I use to save old emails in various categories, and I don't want to lost all of that. Would it make sense to completely uninstall Thunderbird and start over, hoping that the old files will come back over from gmail?

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I know little of computers other than to turn it on and off!

Hi all

I have 4 emails in my Thunderbird, and I shared them with a coworker.

When I have to send from InboxA@xpto.com to InboxB@xpto.com (I have both in my thunderbird, as my coworker), to send a email to my coworker, we both don't receive the sent email.

Otherwise, works fine.

Appreciate your help.

Hello dear people,

Until recently when writing an e-mail, I could use ^Home and it brought me to the very beginning of the e-mail. Then one day this option disappeared. So now I have to use the scroll bar. Is it possible to get ^Home back?

An other problem I have is that when I reach the end of the screen while writing, the scroll bar does not move up automatically and so I do not see what I am typing and I have to move the scroll bar up. I do not understand how these two features have changed.

Thank you for your advice! All the best from Dorith

My primary Thunderbird usage remains on my Windows 7 computers. Until recently, I needed only to copy the email files of PROFILES over to my Windows 10 computers for the Windows 10 version of Thunderbird to continue working. The last several updates of Thunderbird have botched that straight forward procedure so that when I copy the PROFILES over to Windows 10 after an update on Windows 7, the Windows 10 version tells me that it flatly refuses to work. Only by then copying the entirety of the Mozilla Thunderbird directory from Program Files (x86) is the Windows 10 version then willing to proceed to function at all. Even then, it demands that I REINSTALL my essential "Manually Sort Folders" function each and every time that I have replaced the PROFILES files. Is there any cure for this messiness other than (1) copying Mozilla Thunderbird directory from Program Files after each nonsense "update" along with the PROFILES #OR# (2) refusing to allow updates to my primary Windows 7 installation of Thunderbird. I don't know what, if anything relevant, I might be missing by refusing to allow updates but the expansion of time and energy for maintaining a functional Thunderbird installation on Windows 10 (without allowing it to gather new emails that aren't in my Windows 7 version by allowing it access to the Internet). But forcing updates across multiple systems is a problematic procedure unless it is done on a "forgiving" basis not currently extant.

Hi. I'm using Linux Mint 20. I wanted to go back to Windows 10. Under Linux I downloaded the latest version of Firefox. I checked the installation file on the VirusTotal page. VirusTotal showed that the exe file contains the Win.MxResIcn.Heur.Gen trojan and the msi file contains Attention.APT-Bait.ContainShellCode! 1.9E28. Earlier installation files also contained some surprises. I don't think my Linux system contains any viruses. Installations of other browsers such as Opera or Chrome do not have these "add-ons". Interestingly, if I paste the link to the installation file into VirusTotal - there are no surprises. What is going on?

I keep my personal mail archives on a private IMAP server running on the Linux workstation in my office.

I recently replaced my home desktop (Windows) computer. I moved my Thunderbird profile from my old computer to the new one, and then installed Thunderbird on the new one. Everything seemed to work fine at first: Thunderbird on the new computer came up looking identical to the old one, with all of the same folders. But Thunderbird on the new Windows computer will not log in to the private IMAP server. It keeps saying that it cannot log in and the password is probably wrong, even though Thunderbird on my laptop logs in to the same server just fine with the same password. The security certificate on the private server is self-generated, and a few times Thunderbird has asked me to confirm a security exception for the private server. I have always pushed the "confirm security exception" button, but it makes no difference.

I have tried creating a new profile, but when I create an account to talk to the private server, I get exactly the same login errors.

My "regular" accounts (Office 365 through work, gmail) all work fine on the new Windows computer.

I have tried SSH-ing to the server from the new Windows computer to the private server, and that works, with the same password.

This is really frustrating. Is there any way to figure out what is going wrong and address the issue?

I had specified that jpg files be opened by PIcasa Photo Viewer and all had been working well for years -- this new behavior started a few months ago. All other file types open as expected, e.g. csv is opened by Excel, pdf by Reader, ...No matter what setting I use for associating with jpg files, clicking on the attachment just stores them in my appData/Local/TEMP directory, and Picasa doesn't open the file tho it updates the contents of that folder.

I first tried all the different options for jpg file types, including save file, Use Default, Always Ask, choosing another program to open jpg's, ... and all did the same thing. I then deleted the associated JPG option for incoming attachments and tried again to open it, but it still just copies the jpg to the TEMP dir, and I don't get prompted for anything. Same behavior for all when using SAFE mode too.

[Note in the attached image I show the choices for JPEG, not JPG, because I just deleted the JPG action and it won't come back. Anyhow I've tried every combination, including the bottom part about where to save files to as well as the drop down list]

I'm on Win 10 x64 using TB 68.10.0 (32 bit)

Any ideas?

Mint Linux 19.3 : Thunderbird ver: 68.8.0 SMTP server rejects/bounces any email sent. In looking at the mail header, the Return-path is empty -only showing the "place-holder: <>."

This "problem" occurred suddenly... no error message other than server generated bounce message. This is not a new install of Thunderbird; and Thunderbird has worked flawlessly up until this point,.

I would think replacing - re-creating the profiles.ini would solve the problem but I'd like to verify before I make a trip to my client's home to fix the problem.

Two related problems. 1. Thunderbird has not downloaded emails in a few days. Problem is not the IMAP server,s as using gmail and comcast and neither working. Problem is specific to this one PC, as able to download on another PC with Thunderbird. Thunderbird's server settings are the same on the two PCs. No error messages. Do see a connecting to imap.comcast.com message briefly, but nothing happens. 2. Tried repair file at first, thinking the messages may actually be there. Thunderbird deleted the Inbox file! No where to be found. The msf file is still there but shows no emails. Am thinking this will get fixed once Thunderbird syncs with comcast. Right?

Each time I add a new feed I first copy the link in Firefox then create a folder in Thunderbird and then need to right-click press subscribe and paste the link. This gets annoying quickly and I would like to ease that process.

I have no experience writing Thunderbird Add-ons, but maybe I will start investigating this just to solve this problem. Any help what would be the easiest way to ease this process via an Add-on would be grealtly appreciated! Here are some ideas:

- Thunderbird could read and update the feedlist on startup form an external JSON file - There could be a Firefox plus a Thunderbird extension working hand in hand so one wouldn't even need to switch focus when adding a feed - There could be a button in Thunderbird which simply offers to add a new feed from the clipboard (with the option to create each feed in its own folder).

I have two computers. I currently use Thunderbird on only one of them. I would like to install Thunderbird on the second computer and duplicate my profile there, so that I can use the two computers for interchangeably for email and my calendar.

I am already synchronizing files between the two computers. (I use Syncthing, which seems to work great.)

I can see that all my Thunderbird data seems to be stored in ...\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles. Can I synchronize that folder across my two computers and expect Thunderbird to work correctly with the same profile on both? Is there a better way to achieve the same profile on both computers?

If it isn't feasible to duplicate my entire profile via file synchronization, can I at least synchronize my local folders this way, or will that too cause problems?
