For months now, when deleting emails in Thunderbird, it sometimes creates multiple records of the same deleted email in the Deleted Messages folder, sometimes several hundred copies of the same email. It doesn't do it for all deleted emails, and I have not been able to discern any pattern or cause. As a result, my wife's Deleted Messages folder has 8,700 deleted emails in the last 3 months, far more emails than she receives. Edwin Miller

I empty the trash in my All Mail and then it all comes flooding back in and I get this message:
The folder 'Inbox on redacted@gmail.com' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again.
I don't know how to do the two things being suggested.

I have noticed that quite a few emails have gotten into the junk folder despite the fact that they meet the criteria to be filtered by my own custom message filters and I have those filters set to run before junk classification. So it seems the junk filter is actually being applied prior to my own message filters. I'd really like to just turn off the junk filter entirely because I like to make my own filters to catch things that I deem as junk, (and that is how it worked on my old version of thunderbird that I had on my old laptop). Is it possible to turn it off, and if so, how?
If it is not possible, then it would be good if this apparent bug were fixed.
I included a screenshot showing just one example of an email from an address I had created a custom filter for in the junk mail folder.

The old Outlook app has a function of "Message Options" that allows you to view all the message headers, without opening the message, to determine if the Email is spam or contains malicious 'packages'. Spammers fake the basic FROM information, but within the headers you can see where the message actually originated from and which servers it passed through. It is a safety feature to prevent automatic 'confirmation of receipt' and other cyberstalking responses upon opening of the Email by deleting it before opening. How can I do the same thing using Thunderbird.

I don't want any more junk email filters and all that crap.
I want a universal block, that deletes all incoming messages, from spammers and unknown senders, who are NOT already in my contact list.
You know I send some one an email and they are NOW in my contact list.
So they can reply.
But if they are NOT in my contact list, they are spammers.
I do not want to be forever clowning around with deleting the spam from scam artists.
If it's an unknown sender, I want them automatically blocked and deleted.
I am pushing this in gmail too, and now in Thunderbird.

Is there a way to get it back? I do hope it reappears in the next updated version as it was a very convenient feature.

I want to set Tbird up so that every email goes into the inbox folder instead of some of them going to the spam folder. My dad is getting many important emails going into his spam folder. He's ok with seeing all of his emails in the inbox and just deleting the spam ones as he goes. Backstory- Dad is 95, with short-term memory impairment, and often forgets to check his spam folder for any actual important messages that should be in the inbox. He asked me to see what can be done. It appears by "the Inbox" it means the Inbox for a given account.
I have a Unified Inbox containing 8 separate Inboxes. I have lost patience with garbage arriving from domains in, for example, .xn--p1acf and .su. I would like to delete this 'stuff' on sight, no matter which Inbox it arrives in...
...but cannot find a way to do that -- other than by manually adding the same filter to every Inbox :-(

I want to COMPLETELY turn off junk filtering in Thunderbird. I want ALL emails to appear in my Inbox. I want NO junk filtering. TB has started marking many emails as Junk in 1 of my 2 email accounts & automatically moving them to the Junk folder. These emails often are important and should never be classified as Junk. This is a serious problem.
Under Selection in Junk Filtering, I have NOT marked/checked "enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account." Also under Selection in Junk Filtering, I have NOT marked/checked "Trust junk mail set by." Under Destination and Retention, I have NOT marked/checked "Move new junk message to:". HOWEVER, there is a section under this category, i.e., Destination and Retention, for move to "junk folder on rdsurber@charter.net" that is currently marked/checked that I cannot access in order to unmark/uncheck it.
What can I do to ensure that absolutely NO emails are automatically marked as junk & NO emails are moved to the Junk folder? I would greatly appreciate help with this issue. Thank you!
