How can I get Thunderbird to instantly download all new mails from the server - instead of waiting for the standard mechanism of Thunderbird to download new mails?

I have two accounts in Thunderbird: comcast and gmail. For some reason there was a password problem when I tried to get email from comcast. I got that fixed but now gmail is showing up as a folder under comcast. It is in italics and grayed out (see picture). It cannot be deleted as when trying I get the message that the folder is non-existent.
There seem no way to move it either. I tried moving it to the gmail account but the server always says it is non existent but it does exist in my list of folders. There are also two folders under the gmail account, Ipad, and labone that cannot be deleted either.
Any help appreciated. Win10 TB 115.10.1 latest

Sadly I had to thoroughly uninstall Thunderbird, reinstall and create new mailboxes due to some strange reason. In the past, the inbox would show the email list and, if clicked, a message would show up below a separator line. Now only the list shows up and I have to double click to read it which opens a new window. What a pain!
And yes, I know I can view the message page using F8 but it is on the right side and shorten the other windows.
Is there a way to go back to the view option I had in previously?

I thought I need to try and fix size and position of a page context menu. Is it possible? I don't want these additional bookmarks that I did NOT select. Moving them one by one is tedious--and I think new bookmarks are added to the toolbar if I delete any. How do I stop this? I am using theme called WhiteSur to imitate Safari, as that is the browser layout I prefer. However, this doesn't change the position of the close tab button and leaves it on the right hand side. I found a way to change it, using the code .tabbrowser-tab .tab-close-button {

} Unfortunately, this doesn't change based on the size of the tab, so if I set it to a size that is good for only having 1 tab, it will look bad or be off the screen for the other amounts of tabs. Is there a way to detect the width of the tab or the amount of tabs open and dynamically set the margins based off of this? So I could set it as (width-of-tab)-x and that would always keep the close tab button in the same spot, regardless of tab size. Thanks!

I have attached two screenshots - one Betterbird, the other Thunderbird. I much prefer the Betterbird look, without the card frames and with the blue message header.
You might well say 'use Betterbird then!'. The problem is that Betterbird is not available in a native Apple Silicon version, only Intel, and therefore runs in emulation mode. Thunderbird has a native Apple Silicon version.
Just two small changes. Remove the card frame and make the unread message header blue. Surely that's possible somehow in Thunderbird?

However, I can not figure out how to change the default background color of the message composition window -- which exists in a separate window from the main message viewer window -- from #2a2a2e to basic white.
Cracking open a copy of omni.ja in the app package, the only ID that I can find that seem to possibly be relevant is #messageArea, found in the following .css files:
chrome/classic/skin/classic/messenger/messageQuotes.css chrome/classic/skin/classic/messenger/shared/editorContent.css chrome/classic/skin/classic/messenger/shared/messengercompose.css
I have tried to override the default #2a2a2e color of the message composition area in my userChrome.css file, but to no success. (By contrast, it was easy to change the background color of the message viewing area with #messagePane)
I have tried the obvious step of changing the background color to white in the color settings option. Even after multiple app restarts, this setting does not affect the dark grey default background of the composition window.
Is there a name to this window div and a class or ID that i could access and customize through my userChrome.css file?
