Hi - I am a long time user of thunderbird (using 78.11.0), for some reason when I "invite attendees" I can no longer send any meeting requests (even when attendees are selected).

I'm not sure if I'm using Lightning (& therefore whether a newer version would help)?

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a followup to an earlier question that is archived. For many months I used the Lightning Calendar within Thunderbird synced to my Google calendar using TBSync. While TBSync no longer formally supports Google accounts, my previous settings still work fine, and there is prefs parameter to enable support. My problem has been that I can no longer set the default calendar for new entries.

Previously, I followed instructions to edit the Config File by adding a calendar.registry.....default value for the calendar I wanted as default, making it true, and making the previous default parameter false. However, that no longer works. I can change the settings, but they revert back every time I restart Thunderbird.

I just discovered that there is a list of calendars pane on the left that can be activated. I was not seeing it because I had extended the calendar body over the pane area. By enabling Calendar List in the Views menu, and carefully opening an area to the left of the calendar, I got the calendar list back. If I click on one of the calendars in the list, then that becomes the default. I checked, and this actually makes the changes in the prefs file that I had previously made to set the default. However, now the default reverts back to Home every time I restart. This appears to be a feature of Thunderbird itself, perhaps added when Lightning was integrated into Thunderbird.

I am trying to find out if there is a way to get set the default calendar different from Home and keep it there after future restarts. The properties box for the calendars in the calendar list has some options, but none to set a default calendar. Does anyone know of any way to do this?

I was considering abandoning TBSync and just setting the link to Google with the new CalDAV feature that is included in Thunderbird. However, I assume that this will not change the way that Thunderbird seems to always reset the default calendar on startup.

It appears I can create events that will send alerts or create "birthdays" (anniversaries) which will show which birthday it is but not an alert that will tell me which birthday is coming up as I was able to do with ReminderFox for many years.

Is there a way to both get an alert/reminder AND indicate which birthday/anniversary is coming?

After updating to 78.11.0 the calendar looks very different and it's not showing anything from my google acct calendars.

I added the "Provider for Google Calendar" addon, signed in, and then calendar data appears to have been sucked into the thunderbird calendar however it's like, raw data, it's not organized into the same calendars I have on google.

It looks like the three google calendars I'm missing all turned into "flash sale" (in the left sidebar calendar list) and the google event data has been mashed together into a new calendar called "google".

Also, when I click on a calendar item nothing happens. If I double click on it a basic window opens without any bells and whistles, no google connectivity. That is, if I type in "9am meeting" the calendar doesn't know it's 9am, just randomly selects a time.

What happened? Why does it suck all of a sudden? Why do thunderbird updates have to break stuff half the time? It's like I'm gambling on my productivity every time I update thunderbird.

I'm using Google Calendar on Thunderbird 78.11.0 with Provider for Google Calendar. I have an event that is over a month old that I just cannot get rid of. I've deleted the event on Google Calendar. However, it continues to pop up on Thunderbird's Calendar with the note that I can "Delete Anyway" or "Discard My Changes and Reload". I've tried both....repeatedly. This pesky event just keeps coming back over and over again.

I'm guessing this event is stuck in some event file locally, I just don't know where to look.

Can anybody help?
