Sometimes (so rarely that I cannot reproduce in dev) the client sees this error screen: "Firefox closed unexpectedly while starting..." (see image in attachment)

Sometimes when rebooting the error goes away and Firefox starts normally.

Sometimes even when rebooting the system - this vertical error screen appears, and one solution is to reinstall Firefox, but I'd like not to (if not necessary) or at least programmatically detect the issue and perform the needed actions.

QUESTIONS: How to programmatically detect (bash i.e.) that this error window is present and get rid of it properly? Or, how to (for debugging) force that screen to appear (to force that broken state)?

PS: I'm running Firefox using:

nohup firefox -P ff_custom_profile -new-instance -private-window -kiosk "$url" > /dev/null 2>&1 &

I already have the admx and adml templates installed on my gpo. I would like to control or prevent the install of vpn extensions on the firefox browser.

Specifically I would like to prevent the install of all vpn extensions to the firefox browser for the users in my company. I would like them to download and install other extensions. How could I do this through modifying the json file in the extensions folder of the firefox template in my gpo.

We would like to deploy a configuration profile to our macbooks running Sonoma 14.5 and above. This is being done via Jamf MDM. However when we use our current plist to configure settings, They are not being applied correctly, The issue seems to be with the firefox plist itself and not our Jamf deployment. Would you be be able to advise or could we ask for a plist template that could achieve this?

After last update of Thunderbird on my laptop I can no longer change start upp URL:, or uncheck "show startpage" That means evry time I star Thunderbird, I get the ask for more mony ! But on my PC it runs normal as it alwas have done.

The information on how to solve this dose not work ! It is like the inifile is locked. Mats

Hi, I've recently downloaded firefox and trying to add extensions that were similar to the ones I used on chrome. My problem is that all the extensions (Hoverzoom, Short Keys) in the extensions tab in the toolbar and appear to not be working (both in private and normal browsing). However the extensions (Ublock, SponsorBlock) that have their own icon on the toolbar seem to be working fine.

I have added (as a start) some web shortcuts to my Firefox Focus home screen. However, they are cut off, so I can only see the top part of the label. I can work out what they are but what happens when I add more shortcuts? How can I see the whole shortcut and label, please? I'm using Android version 14.

When I do right mouse click on page, depending on the mouse cursor position, context menu appears and I need to scroll up or down to access appropriate item. I thought I need to try and fix size and position of a page context menu. Is it possible? I recently had an issue where my email password changed on another client, but Thunderbird did not prompt me for a new password. After two days, my account was still frozen with no new emails on Thunderbird, although they were updating on other clients. The Mozilla help on the issue said to go to "Options." There is no "Options" option in my Thunderbird, not in the top menu, not under server settings, not under Account settings, not under Tools. My version of Thunderbird is 115.11.0 (64-bit), running on Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS. Maybe the issue of no "Options" option is specific to this particular incantation.

Here's what I did to force Thunderbird to prompt me for a new password. I selected "Server Settings" below the email address in the left pane. I changed the Server Name to one that is incorrect. When I migrated away from that textbox, Thunderbird raised a popup window that it had to restart. I let it restart, and when it came back up, it prompted me for a new password. I now input my correct password for the email address. It came back a few moments later that the password was incorrect, asking me to enter a new password. Well, it's the server URL that's incorrect, not the password. I cancelled the popup window, then changed the the server name back to the correct one. When I migrated away from that textbox, Thunderbird again raised a popup window that said it had to restart. I let it restart, and when it came back up, everything was fine, and my two days of undelivered emails came through immediately.

I hope this can help others who are bewildered by the lack of an "Options" option on their version of Thunderbird.

I us an M2 Mac. I like Thunderbird, but prefer the Betterbird card view. Is there any way I can replicate this in Thunderbird?

I have attached two screenshots - one Betterbird, the other Thunderbird. I much prefer the Betterbird look, without the card frames and with the blue message header.

You might well say 'use Betterbird then!'. The problem is that Betterbird is not available in a native Apple Silicon version, only Intel, and therefore runs in emulation mode. Thunderbird has a native Apple Silicon version.

Just two small changes. Remove the card frame and make the unread message header blue. Surely that's possible somehow in Thunderbird?

double line spacing forced every time you press enter - Also messages from same sender are sorted and combined into a single line in the INBOX list - how do you keep each message separate? Thanks

I'm so annoyed by these notifications for utterly random websites / "news" that started after a recent update (see attached screenshot). I don't want these, bit also don't want to turn off notifications altogether. Thank you!

I just uninstalled firefox for personal use at home (Still use it for work).

I tried to change now given chromium is about to be neutered with ad blockers etc.

This was my feedback - Extremely disappointed and non-functional profile option/s. Wanted to provide feedback that hopefully someone sees, as there is going to be a mass migration to FF soon and if they do NOT fix the below, people will give up fast.

about:profiles is completely useless, because once you sign in with the same firefox account again, it just syncs to the same profile.

Firefox MUST have multiple profile support under 1 login, not combine them. The thought of having to sign up a completely separate second account/email for a second Firefox 'account' with a second 'mfa' token just to separate personal and work is ludicrous.

I want to sign in, pick my profile as personal / work and then it syncs my diff favourites, plugins etc. per profile for work or personal depending where I am, NOT SHARE them all on 1 login. This is not possible and a huge disappointment considering these features are considered basic in other browsers."

Until firefox does this, it is unusable for multi work/private profiles and signing up a second Firefox account is just silly.

Hello! My name is Anya. I am desperately trying to manage my social media addiction and to help support that I am wondering if its possible to disable the privacy window. I know I can install a website blocker - which I have, but it does not apply to the private window so I have full access to social media on it, I just have to log in. I want to COMPLETELY block Facebook and Instagram off of my laptop. Is this possible? Thank you!

When you go into 'Manage Bookmarks' and click on 'Import/Backup Bookmarks' is there a way to clear out the list of files listed when you hover over 'Restore ->' which brings up the list of recent bookmark files that you have restored?

Basically, when I have a threaded message, I don't see the > to drop down information to show the threads from the subject pane in the subject field.

I have gone to view, sort by threaded. I'm led to believe I should see something like this:

Subject : Top Level of Thread

 ---> Subject : Re: Top Level of Thread
      |
      ---> Subect : Re: Top Level of Thread

But I see none of that. It's just one flat subject. It doesn't even tell me someone has replied to me. I have to go into the mail to see that. I have added the conversations add on just to get a glance of that, because I'm seeing nothing.

Hello, I've chatted with the creators of the add on "Twitter X Ad Blocker" and asked why it isn't working any more. They told me they have an update made and ready but you have not approved it yet. What will it take to get you to approve the update so this will work again?
