Optus (Australia) emails can't be sent or received by Thunderbird on my PC via my Optus wifi internet connection. I can use emails on my phone via mobile data with wifi turned off (different email client on the phone, though). Optus checked all the settings on my PC with me and they are all correct. They insist that it is a Thunderbird issue (doubtful, IMHO) and that I contact you. Is there an issue with Thunderbird connecting with Optus email? If so. is there any resolution to the issue? If not, can you confirm no problem from your end so I can get back to them (again!)

The SMTP server settings are as shown on the attached screenshot. I haven't changed them since installing Thunderbird and the problem appears for the first time. Thunderbird version is 15.0.
Is there anything I can do about it, e.g. by changing my Thunderbird settings? Since gmx.net is a webmailing service, I cannot change their server configuration. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot to all of you!

I have a POP3 account that I access from both my laptop and my Android phone. On the laptop, I can "leave messages on server" after downloading; works great. But if the phone picks up the message first, the message is deleted, so it it never appears on the laptop. I've poked around to try to find a "leave messages on server" setting in the mobile app, but I can't find it. A Google search referred to "Advanced Settings," but I can't find that, either. Does this setting exist in the mobile app? And, if so, where/how do I find it?
And yes, I should convert the POP3 account to IMAP; I get that, but I can't do it at the moment. For now, I'm stuck with POP3.

Since last night my emails in 3 accounts won't send in thunderbird. I get the following message
the message could note be sent because connecting to the outgoing server SMTP mail.optusnet.com.au failed. The server maybe unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your outgoing server (SMTP) is correct and try again.
The provider Optus has confirmed it doesn't have any issues.
Is there a problem with this with Windows 11 which i have just downloaded 5 days ago?

I am unable to send emails from Thunderbird. Getting the message: An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Connection from xx.xxx.xx.xxx refused.
When I check my password under "Tools - Security', I only see a password listing for my 'incoming' server [that I do not have a problem with].
My out-going server setup has "Authentication" as normal password. When I try to send an email, Thunderbird does not ask for a password. Is it possible the error message refers to lack of a password? If so, is there anyway to manually add an STMP password to Thunderbird?

I'm dealing with a properly updated 'bird: 140.5.0 (32-bit) running on an equally updated Windows 10 desktop. First thing this morning, out of nowhere, I started getting an "unable to write the email to the mailbox..." message when sending, thus I could send but not save. And then I realized I wasn't receiving either, on all three accounts in my Thunderbird. I stopped everything and focused on trying to fix this. It's been an all-day, losing effort. So far.
I tried the various quick checks and fixes recommended here and there: I'm running the program as an administrator. I restarted the program. I rebooted the computer. I think I have enough disk space, but to be sure I deleted some bloat from possibly overly large files. I compacted, even though the program is configured to do that regularly. I temporarily disabled my antivirus program. I went into my webmail and deleted all messages that have arrived since my Thunderbird stopped receiving, in case one of them was corrupted. And probably some other attempts as well. Nothing has helped.
And now a second, even worse issue has fallen from the sky. Thunderbird opens. The folder list is where it always has been. The number of unopened messages in each folder is there in boldface, as always, but...the folders are all blank and I get the dreaded popup: "unable to open the summary file...." Have I lost my years' worth of carefully curated emails?
I've tried folder repair. I've deleted parent.lock. Etc. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
I will be super-grateful for any wisdom sent my way.

I am sending a message with Thunderbird through my email server Yahoo. The sending has worked flawlessly until yesterday afternoon; I am getting the following error.
Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com timed out. Try again.
This works fine with Outlook but not Thunderbird since yesterday afternoon.
