After updating Thunderbird, Verizon server no longer recognizes my password, so authentication keeps failing. I can neither send nor receive email. Account settings are correct. Any ideas? Thanks.

When my emails load the date shows as mm/dd/yyyy as this is not a format i use how do i change it to dd/mm/yyyy ? I had to reinstall Thunderbird and the date problem has just started from the reinstall.

When I receive mails with an annex , such as .pps , I don't see where I can find this .pps Is there something that is'not correct ?

A new email account was created in Thunderbird to connect to a email account on Apple's iCloud The incoming and outgoing server names were obtained from Apple and Thunderbird could verify the servers but returns with the error incorrect user name or password when completing the email account. . Apple says this is a Thunderbird problem. Any suggestions on changing the setup to get it to work with the iCloud email account. This email account is functional with a iphone 5

I would like to get notified, if a chat-message arrives. I tried two add-ons, both will play a sound, but not show a notification-window, as promised, so I'd like to do it myself, using `notify-send`. I suppose, that'll take to listen to a fitting event and execute notify-send, can someone please give me a hint, how to do that? Docs are rare.

My original disk lost its XP Pro, so I got a new PC. I can still access most files on my old disk, as it is now attached via an external enclosure, but I cannot find how to get access to my old Thunderbird inbox. "File Transfer Wizard" is missing, and MS Search is broken and won't start. T'Bird works fine on the new disk/PC, but I need to look up some correspondence on the old disk. Is there some file I can point T'Bird to, that will contain my old emails ? Can I somehow merge the old and current files so I can search on a subject or person ?

Some while way back when I created & exported my address book as an LDIF file, lots of these links had the option for show remote content checked. As the list has grown the file has been re-exported as LDIF to keep it up to date

When I import the file for a clean profile, the remote content check box's have been reset. Needless to say as the list grows the number of contacts to reset also.

Is this unchecked by default for security reasons, Setting stored in some other file? Any way to import with this setting in tact

When I double click on the star next to a senders name in the header area to add them to my address book it pops up a small "Edit Contact" window. I select the address book I want the new address to go into and click "Edit Details". I enter the relevant info and click "OK". The new addresses always go into my Personal Addresses book instead of the book I selected in the original "Edit Contact" window. This is in Thunderbird 24.4.0. Tried it on 2 different PC's with the same result. One machine is Windows XP, the other is Windows 7. Any ideas?

I'm trying to send a large attachment with Thunderbird using Filelink. First I have to configure a Filelink account. The first step in the instructions for configuring Filelink says:

"At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options

Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Options"

With Firefox open I click on the Firefox logo on the top left, but this apparently isn't the Firefox button as there's no Options option. Where is the Firefox button? Will the Menu button then appear? If not, where is the Menu button? Or is there another way to configure a Filelink account?

When replying to an email, the entered/typed response is line-wrapped at distance that is much shorter than the original email. This did not occur prior to the installation of Enigmail.

Using Thunderbird 24.3.0. Lightning also installed much before Enigmail with no problems.

I know how to link a web url, but I cannot find a way to link an email address in the body of an email. I want the recipient of my email to be able to click on the email address that is displayed in my message and have it open a new email to that address on their computer like I have done in every other mail software. I was unable to send from my talktalk mail account after upgrading win8 to win8.1. I reinstalled Thunderbird over the top of existing installation but problem remained. (I've checked server settings!). In a fit of madness I deleted that mail account from Thunderbird having read in the forum that this doesn't delete the actual mail, just the account details. However, having recreated the talktalk mail account I can't find my emails! Help - some of these are fairly urgent. Anyone able to help a) recover the emails? b) offer a solution to the original problem? Hopefully, Ted

I am committed to Thunderbird and Firefox but on this computer I must remain with XP as my OS. Microsoft keeps sending nasty messages since I still was running their Security Essentials. I tried to solve this by going to AVG anti-virus,. but that will not work with Thunderbird because of encryption unless I set up the email to allow a AVG server to intervene. Now I keep getting nasty messages from AVG which also interfere with the entering of text. There should be a more simple solution to achieve anti-virus protection for my Thunderbird messages. What do you suggest?
