I sort messages into folders using filters. Each folder has its own address book of people whose messages go to that folder.

But if I send a message from my phone, it goes to the Sent folder and stays there.

Is there a way to automatically run filters on a folder (Sent) when TB starts up? Or even better, also run it when TB refreshes after a hiatus - for example, when TB stays open when the PC goes to sleep and wakes up again.

I have tried to download the newest VDH Companion App (via the link on the github.com webpage) Seven (yes, 7) times and every time the download Fails or I get "Zero bytes". I tried to contact "Support" but there is only a Support Forum and nobody else has posted this as an issue that I was able to find when I searched. So no support is offered. The website suggests that I create an account to be able to post a new issue. However, Every time I have tried to set up a github.com account, I am Unable to do so. The page to set up an account either doesn't load OR if it loads, I can not add any information to it. I am a VDH Registered User and until this morning, the current VDH app I am using, version 8.2.1.1 was working just fine. But now when I try to use it, it says that my VDH Companion App needs to be updated. But I can not even download it to update it. I am running the current version of FF, 123.0.1 on an iMac with Sonoma OS 14.4. We used to be able to email Mig but not anymore. The github.com support page is unwieldy at best and I see that numerous requests for help or support have not been answered or even acknowledged. I am a paid Registered user with a license, but that doesn't seem to matter. I, like many others from what I read online, count on using this app almost every day and I would think that the mechanism for updates should be working correctly. The update files I tried to download came across at crazy low speeds, like 20.1 to 40.5 Kbps! I spent over an hour with Tech Support for HughesNet and much to my chagrin, No Other Websites had any issues with download speed. It was only happening on the github.com website and this one file update. Sorry if TMI but I am just trying to thorough.

I have a domain with Earthlink. There are 7 e-mail addresses/accounts in this domain. Three of them will not retain the "user name" in the SMTP Server settings box. The user name is under Security and Authentication. If I match the user name with the e-mail account on one of these addresses, it changes it in the other ones. Is there a limit to the number of accounts Thunderbird can handle? Is there another reason? I will have to switch to MS Mail or some other client if this cannot be resolved. Thanks

Compacting doesn't seem to be working.

Thunderbird optioned for automatic compacting would once in a great while compact folders when I try deleting messages. Now it's trying to compact folders every time I delete a message the first time I open thunderbird v115.8.1 32 bit. If I manually select TRASH folder to compact it says 1.2GB saved every time I try to compact it. Compact 5 times it will say 1.2GB saved every time. It seems to me it is not removing the deleted items. What to do?

I seem to accidentally have deleted some mails which then got purged during compacting. Outlook (which i use from the browser since i'm only on Linux) offers to restore the emails, but when i do that, they get immediately erased again by thunderbird, i've tried several workarounds like copying them to another folder first, marking them as unread etc. Nothing helps. I even installed another email program (bluemail), where the mails where not erased immediately, i could read them in the folder to which they were restored, and i moved them around to maybe fool thunderbird, but to no avail, thunderbird keeps deleting them.

I wonder where thunderbird stored the information that the mails should be deleted, and if there is a way to remove that information. I suppose that would also help with another problem i have, that calendar entries from outlook (which it seems to handle using special email item) are disappearing because these mails were also marked as being deleted, or something similar.

Any ideas? If i can't get around this, i may have to stop using thunderbird, which would really be a pity because everything else reallly runs smoothly for me.

As soon as I touch the mouse wheel to scroll up or down, it jumps to the bottom right cell of the page and won't go anywhere else. It's been doing it for a few days and I can't figure out what is wrong. It's this way in every sheet I have. Mouse works fine in every other program. I'm using Firefox, Win 10. There are several persons complaining about this.

Any ideas what is the problem?

I have been using Thunderbird for years on Windows and then Linux with few problems. My friend has a newly set up Windows 11 laptop and Thunderbird for email. ISP is BT and email is btinternet.com. Incoming IMAP email works fine but outgoing SMTP keeps failing on authentication. Rebooting the router, which changes the wan ip address, fixes the problem for a time (less than 12 hours). Tested with Telnet. Same rejection. I'm wondering if the problem may be something to do with Thunderbird polling the server too frequently. Outgoing email on my friend's iPhone works fine but I don't know how it connects to the internet.

This example should be straightforward, as you can see the title bar on the bottom has a dark blue color from the source app (Tusky) while the navigation bar is white. On Tusky the navigation bar is the same dark blue as the title bar.

I'm not sure if Android allows getting the color of the source app's navigation bar, but anything could be better than a pure white one especially when the title bar is put on the bottom. I suggest Firefox to use either 1. Same color as the title bar 2. A slightly darker version of title bar color.

Since Thunderbird auto updated on my Computer in my Spain Apartment NOVEMBER 23 I have never been able to get into my Email accounts Google appear to have taken control and keep telling me my my Passwords for both of my accounts Gmail and PLUSNET are wrong I do not have a problem in England and in desperation I have installed BLUE MAIL on my Computer and that works OK with the same passwords but it is not in the same class as Thunderbird it is like downgrading from a Rolls Royce to a Mini can any body help me please

I'm getting a pop-up message asking if I want to send my unsent messages.

I wonder why this message cannot contain a link to the folder where these unsent messages are, or have links to the unsent messages, so that I could see what messages there are not yet sent, and decide if I want them sent or not.

Another thread here informed me that the unsent messages are at "Local Folders" -> "Outbox" folder. I had no idea of such a folder, and I wasn't aware that my computer was (briefly) disconnected from the web or one of my eleven mailboxes on five servers.

Could the excellent Mozzilla Thunderbird team consider adding a link to this folder on the pop-up message, please?

Version 115.8.1 (64) I block messages by domain (domain.com), rather than whole addresses, because spammers are constantly changing their whole address (nutjob@domain.com). The filters don't always catch them when they arrive, and then they sit in the folder, indefinitely. The "Manually Run" and "Periodically, every 10 minutes" options are both selected. The "Periodically..." option does not appear to be working (as I expect it to), so I eventually will go and hit the "Run Now" button to get rid of unwanted mail. I can also quickly delete them using the "Run Filters On Folder" option in the "Tools" menu. It would be great if the filtering worked automatically. Thanks
