I am trying to add one of my Google email accounts to Thunderbird. It brings up the "Sign in with Google" window, which is normal. But instead of "Sign in to continue to Google...", it says "Sign in to continue to Mozilla Thunderbird Email". Which then generates an error: "Error 400. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know." I've not ever experienced this issue before; adding a Google account has always been super easy and straightforward.

I migrated my Thunderbird installation to a new computer. The installation has 25 email accounts and is now requiring passwords be entered for each account including a couple of gmail accounts.

It was my understanding passwords would be migrated when using the export/import tool within Thunderbird. Is this not so?

Do I now need to change passwords for all email accounts? (because, of course these may have been written down years ago but cannot be located at this time. :-( ) Or, is there some way of restoring the email account passwords?

• • • side note: The migration was not seamless but mostly due to my own ignorance. When using the export/import tool from one Linux machine to another I found the following:

- Thunderbird versions must be the same on both computers - After export, file on USB drive was only accessible by root on new computer - export zip file needed to be copied to user account on new computer (from within root account) and ownership changed to [user]: -R (I imagine you could just change ownership on the USB but this seemed easier)

This morning, I repeatedly received an "Authentication failed when connecting to outlook.office365.com" error. I removed the Outlook account from Thunderbird hoping to solve this by reconnecting and starting from scratch. Upon entering my email and password, my configuration is successfully located in the Mozilla database, but upon selecting the IMAP configuration and after a brief password check, I received the error message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". Is this an issue on Outlook's end, or is something not set up properly?

In a moment of stupidity while updating Thunderbird to the new one, I clicked the wrong button. Everything looked OK and after checking it, I let my IOBit Uninstaller get rid of excess files. It got rid of all of them. I may still be able to get them back, however in the setup your existing email, it won't log in. It finds the configuration, income and outgoing and username. But then comes back with the ERROR Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, user name or password. I only have one account and it is also loaded on my laptop. However, that doesn't help me much as I hadn't used the laptop for months until this happened. Why won't it log in? Looks the same as the laptop in settings. My restore points don't work. It has not been my day.

So, how do I get it to log in? I really need that email back. Thanks Tori (who will back and save on a stick forever now)

Sending of password for user lehmannc@hispeed.ch did not succeed. Mail server pop.hispeed.ch responded: [AUTH] Authentication failed.

Thunderbird is not asking me for my password for the following addresses - [edited]@consultant.com , [edited]@mail.com and [edited]@mail.com

Security Settings are as follows for the above

Connection security : SSL/TLS

Authentication method : Normal password

Thunderbird solutions don,'t give answers just the problems people are having it's so frustrating all I want is either a password reminder or reset , simple you may think but no Thunderbird make it difficult to contact and many just like me are going around in circles, please send me a reset via my e mail [edited email from community support forum] I've got my fingers crossed!!

Hi, I use thunderbird 140.6.0 esr for Linux (Debian 12 with KDE 5). After opening Thunderbird, I am asked for the password to retrieve mail. If I make a mistake when typing it in, I have no chance to correct the password and have to restart TB. There is a correction window for the SENT password.

Following the theft of my laptop, which had an automatic login enabled, I am no longer able to access this account. Unfortunately, I do not have the password saved, and no one within the association is able to provide it. The standard "forgot password" procedure is currently not working for me. Could you please advise on how I can reset the password so that I can set up this email inbox on my new computer? After I set up my IMAP and SMTP settings for my iCloud email account in Thunderbird I click my inbox and a prompt to donate comes up. I ignore that and focus on the second prompt to input my password. I had already went into my Apple iCloud account and created a third party account password. I thne input the password. It continually rejects that password. I am thinking that the prompt for a donation may be interfering. Also, prior to the password issues the app was running very slow. I went online and blocked Thunderbird from my contacts and that seemed to work. Could the issue be one of the inputs for my incoming and outgoing settings. I ran the test in IMAP and things looked good for the test. But always, the password fails. Please help.

after a wordpress and thunderbird upgrade we can nolonger email invoices to our customers

we think maybe a password and or a port issue

I can't log in after changing my email password. My email address is [edited]@telia.com. I can log in with my new password using Telia Webmail. I have been in contact with Telia and they refer you. Best regards Anita Bodin

Hi, I'm surprised to find that by clicking several times on 'annull' on Tb sign-in, anyone using my PC gets access to my mails. The only way i've found to protect my mails is the password on Windows lock screen. I'd like to protect my mails as with other accounts eg Firefox password.
