Sometimes when I receive an attachment 'paperclip icon' there is no option to 'open or save' it and I cannot see contents. It is not every time but enough times that it is very frustrating, and cannot find any solution online.

After an upgrade to my most recent Mac I appear to have lost Thunderbird and all of my early backed up files (since deleted) from Gmail.

Today, I reinstalled Thunderbird and linked it to Gmail. I then used Google Takeout to create an mbox folder and it worked fine.

I now want to add this folder to Thunderbird as a separate backup which covers a particular period, say 2012 to today. After that I want to delete all of my mail - or at least everything up to 2019 so that I will have more space on my Gmail account.

I tried the import function but it does not appear to show any way I can download a mail folder.

I have read that I can simply shut down Thunderbird and copy the mbox file into the local folders in Thunderbird.

So my first question is "can I simply transfer the mbox folder into Thunderbird local folders?"

If so, may second question is "how can I find Thunderbird local folders on my MacBook Pro?" I have no idea where to find the Thunderbird folders.

I have a recent MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.4.1

I just began using Thunderbird for my email as I'm so sick of "Comcast/Xfinity" dumping advertising and other junk on my computer when I just want to get to my Comcast email. I have customized Thunderbird email (options, etc.) to display the way I want. However, I am using a shared computer that I've set up to require login to several user or the Admin accounts and now T-Bird puts up a notification on my user account (on the Windows Login screen) of new email having arrived and how many new emails I have. I do not necessarily want other users to know if I have new email and how many new messages I have. Is there a way to turn this "feature" off? I don't see any option in any of the T-Bird tools.

I often compose e-mails that contain multi-level bulleted or numbered lists, images, and other inserted items. Sometimes, Thunderbird fails to return me to the correct list level between paragraphs or breaks, or it crashes or deletes part of my message when inserting an image. I have found some workarounds, but it would be helpful to me if I could see the HTML code and manually edit it during compose, like I can with received messages (View > Message Source). I haven't yet found a way to do this. Alternatively, I could compose the message in Dreamweaver and copy it into my e-mail, but I might create some tags that are not supported by Thunderbird. Please suggest how I can edit the composed HTML before sending my message. Thanx, -Richard
