I'm lost about how to get back into the program. I already had Thunderbird and tried to re-install it. After that it asked for my name and e-mail address & password. I forgot the password.

‘Trying to install T-bird in new computer and I forgot the password. And no, the password for Thunderbird is not in the saved passwords in settings’ for ‘Thunderbird’ (Mozilla).

Hello, I use IMAP/SMTP email, yesterday I changed my email password via the website. After this change, Thunderbird does not want to log me in, I keep getting the message that the address, password or configuration is incorrect. Please help me solve this problem

Quite some time back I had set up Thunderbird to start looking into using, how ever life got in the way and I continued to use Outlook 365. I have forgotten my password and I have tried every password that I could think of with no success. How can I reset my access to my email address? which I have had for about 30 years. Or do I need to just start over with a new address? Thank you in advance for your anticipated help. Dennie

I cannot change my email address to my new email address.

When I try to follow the primary email change procedure, after entering my new address, I receive a message: "that account already exists."

My new email address is: [edited] @gmail.com My old email address is [edited] @aol.com

I no longer have access to my old email address [edited] @aol.com which changed years ago.

I have never had any identity confusion with my current gmail address, [edited] @gmail.com

This situation may have happened from my previous attempts to update my primary email address. Could you send me a verification code to [edited] @gmail.com so that I can resolve this situation?

I am trying to change my Thunderbird password which I have forgotten but the settings page needs it to reveal saved passwords, which is a catch 22. Do I need to remove it in order to replace it with something that I can remember or is there another way to fix this?

I see numerous entriesdescribing my problem--but no solutions. where are the solutions to these password problems? After using thunderbird email for several years with almost no issues--and no passwords required--I get a pop up asking for a password I do not have. I tried my mozilla pw, my google pw, my yahoo pw, my thunderbird pw,--and now I am stuck. How can I get access to my emails? By the way, I do contribute a small fee for thunderbird mail which I not required to do. HELP! Since I cannot access my emails, I cannot retrieve various verification codes.

Hi, I use a BT email account. I view it on my PC with Thunderbird. I have changed my email account on BT and this works when I use the web version. I cannot find how to change the password in Thunderbird. I have read previous posts which refer to "Tools" then "Options" - I cannot find Options anywhere. Can you help please?

A window pops up asking me to sign in to google. But that window does not have the toolbar, so I can't access my password manager (Bitwarden). And when I click continue in that windows, google does not get my passkey.

Occasionally I will get distracted between starting Thunderbird and entering the primary/master password. This is usually due to not having my password manager open, and/or problems with the PW manager, or getting an important phone call.

Thunderbird asks for the PW, but if I don't enter it "in time" it will go ahead and try to access my email accounts online, but without having access to the application passwords/tokens. This causes a slew of errors, requests for authorizations and other problems. I usually end up canceling the task - because just closing Thunderbird doesn't stop the insanity.

If I have a primary/master PW, Thunderbird should WAIT, and not try to do anything, until that password is correctly entered. That would solve a bunch of issues.

Is there a way to get your email password within Thunderbird? I'm trying to add TB to a new computer but it is not taking the password that I thought I was using.

Verification codes are sent to my email but since I cannot access my emails (see yesterdays question/issue) I cannot access the verification email. So what options, if any, do I have?
