Long time thunderbird user. 78.5.0 has been functioning on up to date windows 10 laptop up until this morning. It will not retrieve any new mail. No error messages.

Tried reboot. Tried uninstall/reinstall. No change.

Thunderbird 68.12.0 on a windows 7 desktop on the same home network is working fine. Not sure what else to try here. Any thoughts?

When I logged in this morning, I didn't receive new messages. When I sent a message as a test, it said that while the message was sent, it would not be saved. Something happened happened overnight, because it was fine when I logged off.

Hello Community,

I opened Thunderbird this morning and my Gmail email is not downloading. Also, it seems like I am able to send email messages but it gives me an error saying it can't save a copy to Sent folder due to network or file access errors.

The last time I was using my email was on Friday, 11/27 and everything worked as normal. Any help getting my Thunderbird working with Gmail again would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Running Thunderbird 75.8.0 on Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.630

Using IMAP to download emails from Google Gmail:

Server settings: Server Name: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2

Confirmed IMAP enable on Gmail and permission for Thunderbird to a access the Gmail account.

Details:

Have been using Thunderbird with Gmail for years with no problem. Just today it stopped downloading emails. Been trying several solutions on Mozilla support but no luck. Tried disabling firewall, also no change.

Hi all., can you please help.

- I cant receive emails ( no new emails in my mailbox ) - I "see" sent emails - but people reported that they receive email from me.

As an emergency I am using Roundcube Webmail 1.3.11 web email now, works fine. My hosting and provider of email address is reporting no problems at all.

Sending you screenshot of what is happening on my screen. I did reinstall Thunderbird, no result.

Can please somebody help ?

I've used Thunderbird for years. After the most recent update in late July 2020 (78.0.1), Thunderbird no longer works. It will not download new mail. It does connect to the IMAP server but then gets to "checking mail server capabilities" and hangs with the spinning circle indefinitely.

I have not done anything to Thunderbird, I just let it install the update. I did not install updates to any other program on my PC. I'm running Windows 10 on a laptop that is about 4 months old. Thunderbird worked absolutely fine before the 78 update.

I am not experiencing any connection issues or problems with any other running programs.

I have tried the following fixes already: 1. Checking my account configuration and confirming it is correct with my email provider. I have the correct ports listed and correct server names. 2. Changing the timeout setting from 100 to 2000. 3. I am able to access my email on my provider's Web interface so this isn't a password issue. There is no CAPTCHA required either. 4. I checked my anti-virus/anti-malware program (Kapersky). Thunderbird and Mozilla are both listed in the "allowed apps" list. I tried removing them both and re-adding, as well as searching for other variations of Mozilla/Thunderbird to add. I also tried Kapersky's "refresh" function. 5. I tried restarting my computer. 6. I tried rebooting my wireless Internet connection. 7. I tried using Thunderbird's "start in safe mode with apps disabled" function. 8. I tried re-installing 78. 9. I tried clearing caches and cleaning with CC Cleaner.

Nothing has worked. Something in the 78.0.1 update has messed things up. Thank you for looking into this.

I have uBlock Origin installed, but I can't see how that would block about:config. I see some SSL error text in that big URL blob, not sure what that's about.

In the Nov 20th and Nov 21st Nightly builds, when I enter a URL in the address bar (either by fully typing it and tapping Enter, or by partially typing it and tapping on one of the autocomplete suggestions), the onscreen keyboard remains in place.

The behaviour in previous builds (and in my view the desired behaviour) was that the onscreen keyboard disappeared in order not to take up screen space that the web page could use.

I clicked on a popup link from Firefox to speed up my browser. Came back to my computer and everything's gone, all my fast links that I had at the top of my screen, like Facebook, Gmail, everything I've saved for quick links over the past 2 years. I want my computer back, just the way I had it. This is a nightmare. I'd much rather my browser run slow (it really wasn't running slow). I tried a system restore, but it didn't restore things the way I had them. Please, what do I do to reverse this nightmare, and please don't ever offer to speed up my browser again.

Since updating to V78.5 I can not receive nor send emails. I change the Security setting in the config editor as suggested but this did not help. My gmail settings have not changed and I'm about to delete TB and just use the web site. I did not know I had automatic upgrade on and don't know where to look for it. I'm not a geek but I'm also not a novice and I feel pretty stupid that I cant figure this out. Anyone else have the same difficulties?

Hi all. When I went to bed this morning my Thunderbird installation on Windows was working perfectly, but when I woke up and restarted my PC Thunderbird was unable to download any emails from my Gmail account. It just hangs, with the message in the status bar displaying "<email address>: Connected to imap.gmail.com..." for a few seconds, but never downloads anything.

I also tried sending an email through the same account in Thunderbird, and the message successfully sends, but Thunderbird gives me an error dialog with the message: "Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent Mail) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent Mail-<email address>." If I select the option to save the message locally to Local Folders that appears to work (2 new files called "Sent Mail-<email address>" and "Sent Mail-<email address>.msf" were created in my Thunderbird profile/Mail/Local Folders directory).

I can still receive and send emails perfectly fine using the Gmail client on my phone, and I've checked the status of my Google account, to eliminate that as a potential problem. My data usage on the Google account is well below the limit, and my app permission for Thunderbird on Windows is still saved and working according to the Google dashboard and the fact I can still send emails through Thunderbird on Windows.

The error dialog above suggests the problem is local to my machine, but I don't know how to test that at all. The drive my Thunderbird installation and Profile are on has plenty of free space (~370GB on an M.2 NVMe drive), and when I use the Local Folders save option above that successfully saves Sent Mail to the same drive.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with Thunderbird 78.5.0 (32-bit), and I'd really appreciate any help or advice anyone could give. Thanks.

since yesterday evening Thunderbird 78.5 stopped synchronizing IMAP folders.

I have 26 accounts setup in Thunderbird from 4 different providers so it is not a settings issue.

Tried repairing a folder but with no luck. It remains empty with no error popping up at any time.

Tried starting Thunderbird with no add-ons but with no result.

Could you advise on further steps I can take?

So yesterday I experienced an error in Firfox browser. out of nowhere Some protocol error. This was resolved after restarting the browser. But also since yesterday my Thunderbird does not fetch new emails. Not sure if this is related though. No errors, just nothing.

Facts version 78.5.0 on Windows 10: - I have setup 7 accounts with different ISP's - I have tried disabling add-ons - I have tried disabling firewall and network security - Sending mails does work - Receiving mails on another cumputer works

Basicly I am clueless as to what to do to fix the problem... Please help. Many thanks.

hallo like the tile say "after update to version 78.5.0 (32-Bit) nearly all my contacts are deleted." please help me, how do I get them back, a step back before update is not more possible saw it to late. there was to much updates last week.

also funny is that there is a list with no named folder in the adressbook list you see left on the screenshot.

my last saving of the adressbook is also to old, forgot to save them last year :(

would be great to hear from someone.

I have used Thunderbird for a very long time. Currently on my desktop it is no longer receiving messages. Also when I go to send an email I get the following message.

Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders Sent-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. (The exclamation points is where my email address would be)

The email goes out but it is not saved locally.

On my laptop Thunderbird works just fine receiving both emails and sending emails. No problems there. Both systems are configured the same with firewall and antivirus (ESET). Both Thunderbird programs are also set to the identical settings for both the security and server settings.

Anyone have any thoughts on what I need to do. I have never experienced this issue before.

Hi I have stopped receiving emails in Thunderbird. I can still see mail including new mail if I log into Gmail website. When I click "Get messages" Thunderbird says "Connected to imap.gmail.com" but doesn't go on to my Inbox. I can still send messages. I have tried removing Thunderbird and reinstalling it. I had do that manually the automatic install would not recognise my password. I have tried removing saved passwords and reentered myGmail password. I tried changing my login settings to no password and my Connection security to None. I have tried the suggestions on the Thunderbird website, including disabling my internet security (Eset). Help, please Cheers Roger

Thunderbird suddenly stopped receiving e-mails from my account at att.net - It received a morning group of e-mails and then stopped with no upgrades or anything in between - I can access everything fine at the mail.yahoo server

Thunderbird at lower left corner says "connected to inbound.att.net" but it does nothing more; does not appear to get to the step of requesting password - I tried to change the TLS min setting from 3 to 1 and no effect; no problem sending e-mails from Thunderbird

Any assistance would be much appreciated
