I want to change the default fonts in Firefox. The problem is that the "Default font" setting doesn't really do this. Going to the "Advanced" dialog shows the truth: for every single writing system, the entries are
Serif: (Default) Times New Roman Sans-Serif: (Default) Arial Monospace: (Default) Andale Mono
I want to change which fonts Firefox uses for these "(Defaults)," and I want those defaults to apply to every writing system. Going through every writing system and individually changing them - for every user on the system, mind you - is not an acceptable solution. I didn't see anything in about:config. There is a default, and it needs to be changeable somehow. How?

Hi all,
I'm a photographer and I've been using Firefox as my default/go-to browser for dealing with images-related things like uploading and downloading to server, accessing and opening photography-related sites and accounts such as Flickr Pro. I'd like to know if any of you can help me with my problem with cache.
So I've noticed that when using Firefox, oftentimes the cache is being cleared/purged automatically, for reasons I don't know yet. I'd like to know how I can keep the cache, or in other words, prevent Firefox from clearing the cache for any reason whatsoever. I really need the cache and I don't mind keeping a large or even massive cache. I'm browsing the same sites over and over again and I'd like to keep the cache instead of having to download it again everytime I browse the sites with Firefox.
The problem is I've tried things like disabling smart cache size and increasing my disk cache to 4 GB to no avail. Firefox always clears the cache automatically after certain period of time or under certain or specific condition(s). The thing is I don't know how to stop Firefox from tampering with my cache. None of my add-ons is actually tampering with the cache, nevermind clearing it.
Several settings that I've changed/modified manually:
・ browser.cache.auto_delete_cache_version: set to -1.
・ browser.cache.check_doc_frequency: set to 2.
・ browser.cache.disk.capacity: set to 4096000. I read somewhere that a Firefox users and a fellow photographer managed to increase the size to 16 GB with his Firefox 69 and is able to keep his cache until he clears it manually, but I failed to repro his steps since my Firefox always reverted back to 380 MB or something whenever I did that. He's probably using custom userChrome and/or userContent css.
All these settings are set to false: ・ browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled ・ browser.cache.disk.smart_size.first_run ・ browser.cache.disk.smart_size.use_old_max
・ browser.cache.memory.capacity: set to 2048000.
・ media.cache_size: sometimes I set this to 4096000 to see if it helps with anything, but most of the time it is set to its default value (unchanged).
・ browser.tabs.remote.warmup.enabled: set to false. I might accidentally added this to my 56.0.2 (and set it to false) since I don't remember tab warming being in pre-Quantum, but my 69.0.2 has this and I set it to false. There is also a thing with mouse cursor hovering over a tab making it reload the tab, but only after Firefox clear my cache.
If any of you curious about why I'm using 56.0.2, it's because I'm still using Multi Paste and Go add-on, which is a Godsend to me. It's really helpful with accessing or opening several links or images at once, oftentimes more than 30-40 images, and unfortunately the add-on is not made compatible with 69.0.2. I'm a very careful person when it comes to security and I never opened any sites with questionable or suspicious quality, just things related to work (photography) and bills (So-Net Nuro, Softbank, etc.) so please don't worry about my browsing habits or security risks. I also always disable Flash plugin.
At this point, I really have no idea how to prevent Firefox from clearing my cache. Sometimes Firefox clears my cache when I am still browsing, sometimes when I leave it idle. Sometimes I can reach over 1 GB of cache size before Firefox clears it, sometimes Firefox clears the cache when the size is still about 100-200 MB.
I always perform system maintenance manually (from updating OS to installing drivers, from setting up Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to making backups) so I'd rather clearing my cache manually instead of letting Firefox do that for me.
Can any of you help me with my problem with cache?
I appreciate and thank for the help, advice, suggestion and assistance you could provide. I don't mind using custom userChrome or userContent as long as you don't mind guiding me with it (I never used it before).
I'm looking forward to get your help and feedback. Thank you very much.
Jun T.
p.s. while I can read English, I'm Japanese and I can't speak or write English fluently like a native speaker, so please forgive me if there's any typo or grammatical error in my explanation.

I am trying to open magnet links with Firefox. I've gotten to the point where it asks me which program I want to open magnet links with. I want to point it to qBittorrent, which is in /usr/bin, however firefox cannot open either of these folders when browsing for the application. It always says access denied. I have tried granting it permissions thru Ubuntu Software and it did nothing. Seems like a very obvious problem. How can I choose an application if I cant ever access where they're stored? Im trying to switch from Chrome but it's proving to be way more difficult than it needs to be.

My company uses an old ESR version of Firefox, which of course doesn't suit my needs. So I installed portable FF alongside this one, and uses it almost anytime (I know that I break the company policies...)
Up to FF 66, everything was fine, and I only had to launch Portable FF first to have it "taking the lead" and been used by default everywhere.
Firefox 67 has introduced the "side by side" feature, which is certainly nice and suits the huge majority of people. But not me... I now have both versions always running alongside, and Windows defaults to the old version, of course, since it is my company's setting.
Documentation for FF67 states "side by side mode is now enabled *by default*". Therefore, I have the obvious question: how can I disable this, since it is apparently the default, and not a mandatory setting.
I haven't found any clue to do that after many researches....

Hi, I'm trying to get the en-GB dictionary to silently install (for network deployment) into firefox, I've got the dictionary xpi, it's file name is ID, and it's dropped into the extensions folder. Firefox detects it and after changing the autoenablescope setting, it is automatically enabled within FF. However it is not actually active and working as it should (no spellcheck or underlining). By installing through the normal add-ons page it does work, of course. But not when installed and activated the silent way.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to setup custom startpages that I am creating using HTML5/CSS/JS. Issue is I am doing this in multiple devices that I have Firefox Sync on.
Those devices are Manjaro (Linux) and Windows 10. Thus their directories and such differ vastly.
I setting the homepage to be `/home/arszilla/.config/mozilla-firefox/HomePage/index.html` on Linux, whereas on Windows it is `C:\Users\Arslan\Documents\Mozilla Firefox\HomePage\index.html`. However due to the sync this gets overwritten constantly.
Is there a way for me to keep Linux's homepage intact while the same is done for Windows? So Linux has its own 'non-synced' homepage, while Windows has its own 'non-synced' homepage?
Thanks in advance.

Can you tell me where there security exceptions are written to in windows 10 so that we can deploy them as part of the installation?

I am trilingual and thus installed support for English, Spanish and German and while on my phone, the keyboard is getting smart enough to guess sort of, which language I am writing the current word in, on the Desktop Browser I am not happy at all with how language needs manual switching. Worse, it shows completely pointless locales that I never consciously installed or asked for. 5 English locales, 6 German locales and 22 Spanish locales doesn't make it easier to switch languages. I end up picking random locales with the occasional surprises but would prefer to hide all but one locale per language, with a hotkey to cycle through or pick. How can I achieve a smoother language switching?

I am trying to make this not happen. I'm ideally looking for a setup where Firefox will make no requests at all without me explicitly telling it to but just eliminating the two requests above would be a great start!
Here's what I've tried so far:
1. Uncheck "Provide search suggestions" in `about:preferences#search`
2. I've followed these instructions --- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections
2. Here are a combination of select settings from my `user.js` preferences file that I put in to place before opening Firefox in my attempts to stop this. Some of these may or may not be relevant but I'm including them so you have some idea what I've tried: ``` user_pref("app.update.enabled", false); user_pref("browser.tabs.crashReporting.sendReport", false); user_pref("browser.crashReports.unsubmittedCheck.enabled", false) user_pref("browser.search.update", false); user_pref("browser.search.suggest.enabled", false); user_pref("extensions.systemAddon.update.enabled", false); user_pref("extensions.update.enabled", false); user_pref("browser.safebrowsing.downloads.remote.enabled", false); user_pref('browser.search.geoSpecificDefaults.url', ); user_pref('media.gmp-manager.url', ); user_pref('browser.safebrowsing.provider.mozilla.updateURL', ); user_pref('browser.safebrowsing.provider.mozilla.gethashURL', ) user_pref('browser.search.cohort', ); user_pref("services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.urlbar.suggest.searches", false); ``` Any ideas?
