Firstly, greetings to the community, I hope you people are staying safe. Please refer to my previous questions number one and number two. Do note that my second question has NOT received A SINGLE REPLY from anybody. I have now updated to version 72 and then subsequently to version 76.0.1 (which the latest one at the time of writing this question. I am still suffering from the same problem of stuttering 1080p 60fps YouTube videos due to frame drops, especially using the VP9 codec, although other codecs also drop a few frames. Do note that the audio works just fine in real-time without any lag, and this problem exists ONLY for 1080p @ 60 fps, not for any other resolution or frame rate. I have referred to the following links to try and solve my problem:-

The Firefox version 72.0.2 release notes categorically state that the issue has been resolved and even points to the bugzilla page for the same. But it still exists even in version 76.0.1, which is surprising. I have tried every possible combination I can think of, from setting media.media-capabilities.enabled = false in about:config to disabling specific codecs and hardware acceleration, none of which solved the issue permanently to my satisfaction. A few settings, at times, improved the issue slightly but there was no permanent solution, even though this has been alluded to in a previous release note. Do note that my graphics drivers are updated and this issue is Firefox-specific, i.e other browsers work just fine. Even the older versions of Firefox work fine, as stated earlier. I would like to state that I prefer using the VP9 codec because other codecs take a toll on my relatively low-bandwidth network connection and this leads to longer buffering times (VP9 does not have this problem). I humbly request the community members and volunteers to help me in this regard, and if need be, point me to the proper channel for lodging a bug report directly to Mozilla.

P.S:- If this issue is not resolved, then I will have no choice but to go back to Firefox version 62.0.2, which works just fine with all the default settings.

Hi Firefox community. I badly need your assistance.

I just installed Microsoft Edge (on Windows 10) to see what features it has. I'm a longtime Firefox user and a fan of the product.

Immediately after installing Edge, Firefox stopped working. I checked my settings and Firefox is still my default browser. I'm able to run Firefox but I am not able to access any websites. This is true whether I click a bookmark or I manually type a URL.

I have a strong internet connection and I'm able to access websites using Edge.

Is Microsoft literally trying to steal the Firefox customer base by blocking the use of Firefox after Edge is installed? I went to my settings menu to see whether I could uninstall Edge but the uninstall button is grayed out. I'm also worried that if I did uninstall Edge, I wouldn't have any browser at all.

What's the solution here? I've tried reinstalling Firefox but that didn't solve the problem.

Please help if you can. Thanks very much!

Recently, after 5/6 emails being sent, suddenly I got the error msg. as shown below:

"The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds a temporary size limit of the server. The message was not sent; try to reduce the message size or wait some time and try again. The server responded: 452 4.1.0 <dpw8445@austin.rr.com> service temporarily unavailable. Please see https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/understanding-email-error-codes for more information. AUP#Out-1440."

What does it mean? What should I do? Spectrum Support provided no info or solution. Can someone help? Your response will be greatly appreciated.

By the way, after I shut down my pc and started it again, I could send 5/6 emails. Then the same problem came back. Pls. help. Thx. David Wang

It also said "  period of validity: Started  June 16 2017    Ended  June 16 2020

I am using Thunderbird version 60.6.1 I have tried to upgrade to Thunderbird 68 but it does not help. But when I do this I got lost of all my mail and all saved mails in maps. Also the whole adresslist is gone away.

I randomly lose bookmarks. I save them to a subfolder and check that they are in fact there. a few days later, gone. Yes, I tried restoring and checked history.

The backup is a week old. The history is incomplete. BUT it was there yesterday. It's happened before, and doesn't seem related to updates. Any thoughts?

Currently anyone that has to keep track of piles of people/projects/etc when they responded to email all have the same problem: 1) did I respond to this person: this is currently seen in Thunderbird by a small arrow that shows an email was responded to which is great 2) how often do I need to get back to a particular sender / person? A day? A week AND did I respond to them? : no way to track this 3) multi-column sort by message threads isn't possible: most recent messages are buried at the BOTTOM of a large list of emails responded to and you still don't know who you need to respond by type eg. you need to get back to your boss fast, but not XYZ who is also sending details about the same message thread title

There must be a VERY simple way to solve this: to see WHO you need to get back to quickly. But there isn't and it's ONLY because of one small problem: you can't multi-sort the main Thunderbird window ( and as discussed in one https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1279557 ) which suggests using Menu -> View -> Sort By which ONLY allows for sorting by ONE column at a time which does not help with the above. But there is an easy solution to this.

Although ( as an advanced user ) you could created custom columns using the Thunderbird Extensions Developers panel as described in this help topic https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Thunderbird/Thunderbird_extensions/Creating_a_Custom_Column and IF you populated the data needed for a drop down with say 0: ASAP; 1: respond in 1 hr; 2: respond in 1 day there is STILL no way to see who you need to get back to quickly because you can't multi-column sort your inbox in Thunderbird. More, if you get an email from BOB @GMAIL.com you can't always have him assigned to a "Respond in 1 hr" tag. Or a "Respond in 1 day" tag. BUT with a super simple plugin called "ColumnsWizard" https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/tag/custom%20columns you are 50% of the way there. Super right? Almost.

The ability for Thunderbird to become an incredibly simple CRM like system for any email user is therefore screwed because there is no multi-column inbox sortting. However by using a great Thunderbird plugin called "ColumnsWizard" and simple multi-column inbox sort functionality, by say, a custom column called PRIORITY ( 0: respond ASAP; 1: respond in 1 hr; 2: respond in 1 day ) then any Thunderbird user has an instant and very simple way to make sure you don't loose things. An instant CRM.

Has anyone ever solved such a simple problem with Thunderbird? Multi-Column inbox sorting ?

To this I've even created a very specific functionality request topic for multi-column inbox sorting: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1647282 for multi column sort because with that, so many great capabilities of Thunderbird come to light.

Over the last three days Thunderbird has virtually stopped working for me. I originally posted this description of my problem to the question “Cannot send email” which was active in April of this year, but in my case the problem seems to have become permanent and also includes the failure to deliver incoming email, so I thought it warranted the creation of a new question thread. Essentially the problem seems like the one noted above. After running for (literally) years my Thunderbird setup has suddenly over the last three days has (a) failed to deliver incoming e-mail after it arrives or when it is requested via “Get Messages”, & (b) failed to send output messages, claiming that the output server "was lost in the middle of the transaction". My internet provider is Primus Canada. In discussion with their technical support it appears that the handling of both incoming and outgoing emails by the servers is working as expected. In addition, webmail applications as run on Firefox, my i-pad, and my i-phone all seem fine (although inconvenient as a long-term working backup). The problem therefore seems to reside with Thunderbird, whose settings had not been changed at all for some time now. I am running Windows 10 Home 64 bit (v1909, build 18393.900), Thunderbird (68.9.0 - 32 bit), Firefox (77.0.1 - 64 bit) all of which are up-to-date versions. Has anyone any suggestions as to what may be happening, or further lines of investigation? [P.S. I should now add that Thunderbird does seem to perform a "batch" load of queued incoming e-mails, following a system shutdown/restart and reload of the program. In addition, the sending problem seems to have disappeared (at least temporarily and for messages sent to myself) after I simplified the Outgoing Mail Server definitions for smtp.primus.ca to a single default server used by all six of my e-mail accounts. I don’t know whether this was a fix or just coincidental.]

After upgrading to FF 77.0.1, the on screen keyboard (OSK) no longer pops up when touching input fields. Not on websites and not in the FF search box. This occurs on 2 Surface devices - a Pro5 and a Go - both at current Windows updates. Both have been using prior FF versions happily for some time. Manual start of the keyboard does allow keyboard entry (it's just a nuisance).

The about:config OSK settings show:

ui.osk.debug.keyboardDisplayReason is showing "AIOSKIDM: failed reading value of regkey."

True for ui.osk.detect_physical_keyboard and ui.osk.enabled False for ui.osk.require_win10 No value for ui.osk.on_screen_keyboard_path

Any ideas of what to try?

As in the topic, the issue happened to 2 different gmail accounts on my thunderbird client. Accounts were created in different times and circumstances and i believe in default settings. After fetching e-mails to my thunderbird client they were no longer available on the server. It took me quite a bit of time to figure out that it is thunderbird nothing else. The e-mails stay in the client mail and i can read them on it after server removal. I didn't find any working setting in Thunderbird that could help. It didn't happen to outlook or another e-mail account providers except gmail so far. What to do? Is this a Thunderbird bug?

I have a Mac running Mojave 10.14.6. I change my browser to Bing and find it changed back to default browser days later. I have removed all the browser options but Bing and it still changes. At first it was just the browser but now it is happening with my home page settings. I set it to a page then it changes to default a few days or maybe hours later. I have played this game a dozen times or 100. Help. I don't find any thing suspicious in my files and have no add-on or extensions.

I give up. Ever since the 77.0.1 update nothing seems to want to load without a lot of work on my part. Gmail doesn't load more than half the time. Weird things happen on the screen occasionally and some photos don't load properly. I've tried all the suggested fixes. I'm using other browsers until this is fixed.

I have been having for many months a problem with Firefox when switching between multiple tabs, and then going back to the original tab, I get this circle going round and round for 2-5 mins on a tab link which I just switch from 3 secs before. In some cases, I have to even reload the original website page. Costing me lots of time each day since I keep about 10 tabs active all the time for my business and need to bounce between different sites all the time. What a pain!!! Stan

Sometimes, when I open the browser, ALL content is not drawn to the window size, as shown in the screenshot. In this case, mouse events are tracked as if everything was drawn correctly, i.e., to the entire size. Only resizing the window helps. How to fix this problem? This happens not only in KDE, but also in GNOME. Clearing the profile didn't help. Running without extensions too. Such a problem still sometimes occurs. OS: ArchLinux https://imgur.com/a/X7Ue9Al
