Hello. I foolishly today, a few hours ago, bought and installed mozilla vpn (1yr subscription). Once this was installed, it somehow screwed up my whole computer setup, and the consequences keep getting worse. I have spent several hours now trying to solve the accumulating issues, and it is getting worse. Of course, I uninstalled mozilla vpn, but that did not help. For example, my thunderbird client was no longer able to download my gmail mail, even though i was using the same password as was working ok on gmail. I put the question to the internet, and the recommendation was to uninstall thunderbird and install it again. which i foolishly did. the new thunderbird installation was balnk - all my e-mail accounts and data were no longer there! moreover, when I try to restart the accounts, thunderbird again rejects perfectly good passwords! This is a massive tragedy for me. please tell me what to do. can i recover my data?

My hard drive recently crashed and I had a new one installed. Unfortunately, I lost the e-mail platform I was using (Outlook), so the people who fixed the computer suggested Thunderbird. I downloaded it, and everything on it works fine, except I cannot send e-mail messages. I get a message which says: Outgoing server SMTP responded: C20 message blocked. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I have contacted my ISP, Century Link, and no help there. They say to contact you. Many thanks!! Maury Levi maury1571@q.com

I use AOL e-mail, and this opens perfectly well with Firefox. Now, in order to save an e-mail to a folder on my PC I have to save it as an html document to be opened by my browser, i.e. Firefox. For a while now when I try to open any saved e-mail it will open for a few seconds and then it is covered by a Blerk 5 error notice. The following information accompanies it: ERR1800 Report ID: 0ca992e91cc1f7c63-20211015-124427. I would greatly appreciate a fix for this problem. I assume all the data are there safely saved because I can read the e-mails even if only for a few seconds. I need the fix to allow me to open all my old saved e-mails. Thank you.

Hi all I updated my Thunderbird yesterday to 91.2 (32 bit). My computer is a 64 bit, if this matters.

I'm on the release channel, and have never had an issue like this before, in nearly 20 years of Thunderbird use.

When I want to write an email, I type the first couple of letters of the addressee into the To line. The box is surrounded with a dark highlight, and I cannot type more than 4 characters into the box... No autoprompts appear, and then nothing happens, and Thunderbird activity is suspended as (not responding)....

So I tried a different tack, by replying to an email. This is fine, but I cannot add another addressee, in any of the To; CC; BCC boxes. Same scenario, 3 or 4 characters, no autoprompts, thunderbird freezes.

So I tried another tack. I replied to a message, typed out my reply, without adding anybody else, and hit send. All seems to go well, and it looks like its sending, then a message pops up, Assembling Message - Done, with a blue progress line at 100%, a cancel button underneath, and a similar message in the bottom LH segment of the pane of the message itself. However, the message doesn't disappear, and the mail doesn't go. If I press cancel, the message disappears, but SEND, SPELLING and SAVE buttons are greyed out.

Eventually I get a message saying Thunderbird has a problem, do I want to close the program or wait for it to respond. After waiting nearly six hours yesterday, I now just click Close the program.

I run 6 different email accounts in my Thunderbird, and have done for years. I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (very reluctant to upgrade to 11, even though I keep getting the prompts.)

I'm running an HP Pavilion with a core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD.

We are running Office 365 as our mail provider (I dislike it) but I run Libre Office rather than Microsoft products.

Aaah. Just remembered - every time I open Thunderbird now, every folder and subfolder opens very irritating, as there are literally tens of sub-folders in some areas.

I use Firefox to display PDF. Since the new update some lines do not show up anymore. For example '=' is displayed as '-'; '≤' as '<' and the minus sign doesn't show up at all. If I zoom in the displayed area gets corrected. When I switch back to Automatic Zoom the lines are missing again.

The update for TB 91.2.0 (64-bit) has changed the 'save as' filename schema. The 'save as' filename schema before the update was just the subject of the email. Now, for some mysterious reason that can only be comprehended by those that have ascended, Thunderbird wants the author, date, time and all kinds of pointless things in the file name. No biggie, BUT THE FILENAMES ARE TOO LONG TO IMPORT INTO SOME PROGRAMS. I'm at a total loss of why anything needs a file name of 200+ characters, so the change in Thunderbird has left a gash in my scalp where I've been scratching my head for a few weeks, now.

This is just a complaint. There will be no answers (because I've never gotten a single helpful answer). There will be no acknowledgement. There will only be pain. And no one that causes the pain will care.

I never thought Outlook would be something I'd prefer, but Thunderbird has forced me to reconsider my options.

I have three different email accounts at my web host. After working flawlessly for many years, one of the email accounts (I'll call it "X") no longer comes in to its Thunderbird Inbox, but rather goes directly to my "Deleted/Local Folders" box.

I've checked and re-checked all the account settings for "X", but I can't see any setting that would account for this behaviour.

I would like to fix the problem, but - if I can't - I'm wondering if either of the following workarounds would be viable:

1) delete the "X" inbox and create a new one (same name, with same settings;

or

2) create a filter that would intercept any incoming "x" email and direct it to a newly-created, alternative inbox (eg, "x rerouted").   So far, I can't find any way to 'target' "x" emails by the actual email account name -- filters only seem to target recipient or sender names, or subject headings, etc.

Thanks, in advance for any help you can suggest.

A search of the forum turns up 32 threads on "Bcc: header", including 10 suggested by the title "Displaying Bcc: header to recipient" -- but none address this question: What does it take to populate the Bcc: header for each recipient in the post headers, not just in the delivery wrapper?

For years I have noticed that sometimes when I am a Bcc recipient, a Bcc: header will be included in addition to any To:/Cc: headers (and of course the Delivered-To: header which every post includes, but is generally not among the headers normally displayed) -- and I realize how much nicer (and more personalized) it looks than receiving a post which does not have my name on a displayed header. It provides to the recipient a definite indication that one has received a (blind) courtesy copy of the post for which the sender and disclosed recipients are shown. Over time I have learned that those courtesies only come from Googlemail/gmail accounts, and wondered:

  • (a) How do they instantiate the Bcc: header for Bcc recipients?, and
  • (b) How can I make TB do that for my non-Googlemail/gmail accounts?

Anyone know? [Note: The add-on Mail Merge addresses this in a different way, by converting every Bcc: address to a To: address, but that is actually a slightly different solution to a slightly different problem. I would rather take the more direct, and at least equally courteous, approach of simply displaying the Bcc: header.]

Print has been broken since the display interface changed recently.

I have used FF to print placards composed using html, generally contained in tables. This almost always requires "scaling" the page to fit the available space for the printed result.

With the new interface, when I change the scale from 100% (in this case to 120%) blocks of text disappear both on the preview screen and in the resulting printout.

When I do the same with the same html file using Chrome, the page and the resulting printout scale correctly.

Would like to be able to continue to do this using FF. Hope you can address this.

I assume that you know that the FF "submit feedback" is not usable... there is no way to login other than social media, and no apparent way to "submit feedback" by mere mortals.

Hi, my desktop are mostly the same Firefox images and it's hard to find the one i want. I right click the icon and in properties i found a few images i could use. Is there a simple way to change some of them. I looked online and you have to down loads something, it didn't look easy. I hope I don't have to leave Firefox just to change my icons. Steve

Recently (the last couple of months) Thunderbird does not allow me to select a (Move Message to) destination folder in the Choose Folder option when creating a message filter. The drop-down list appears but I am unable to select an option.

Do I need to update permissions somewhere in the .thunderbird directory structure?

I do have many filters already setup, which still redirect incoming email correctly, but I have had a purge recently of out-of-date filters and folders. Is it a capacity problem - is there a limit on the number of filters allowed?

I'm using the latest Nightly on Windows 10. This Nightly was manually installed in a customized folder, so it works like a portable Nightly (you can copy/paste it to another folder and it'll work). In fact, for test purposes I have several Nightlys manually installed in different customized folder, all working at the same time. No Nightly standard installation on this computer, so no Nightly installed at C:\Program Files, nor C:\Program Files (x86), nor C:\Users.

Please, I'm looking for a way where the update process is done silently, at least 3 times per day. By update process I mean: Check, Download, Apply/install updates and Restart (if needed)... silently and automatically (no human intervention)... at least 3 times per day. I need to be sure that every time a Nightly is launched ALWAYS is already automatically updated.

I googled the subject and I found very old articles, so I preferred to ignore them. However, it seems that recently Nightly started to use a new Mozilla Maintenance Service + Firefox Background Updates. But if I well understood, it only works if Nightly is closed/not in use, which is useless for my needs described above.

A very friendly developer helped me, and he wrote a java script which works perfectly for my needs. But I wonder if I can avoid external java scripts. I wonder if I can achieve same results just by using Nightly own resources. I wonder if I can use the new Mozilla Maintenance Service with a specific Windows task (or a batch file etc).

Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

What I did I went to Settings then applications in the search box I entered wav and the application can up and I changed the action to the player to use I chose Window Player and works perfect.

Hello! Something in my Firefox installation seems to be making several Google network (google.com / forcesafesearch.google.com / www.youtube-nocookie.com / m.youtube.com, and a couple of others) calls shortly after launch. I have a DNS sinkhole, so that is how I can see.

I have a few reputable extensions (or should be, from EFF, Firefox itself, or Ublock Origin), but it also happens in safe mode. I went through a good chunk of this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections and still the calls occur

I am on Windows 10, with FF v93.

Since the last update, I have found a problem with BT webmail. For my 3 different ....@btinternet.com email accounts, since the update, when I save an email to the drafts folder, then re-open it to edit and send, I can no longer re-save or send an email that comes from the drafts folder. Pressing the send or save buttons does nothing. New emails started and sent straight away (without going into the drafts folder) are not affected and still work perfectly, only those saved in drafts. This is a feature I use a lot - are you aware, and can it be fixed next update?
