Where you can switch between accounts, an "Avatar" (circle) is generated automatically with the 2 first characters from the email-domain.

Can be ok, but I have several accounts on the same server, resulting in identical "Avatars".

Is there a way to change what's shown ? If not, could this be implemented?

Everything worked fine until I upgraded to 128.3.1 Now I cannot open any attachments. The most urgent to fix is pdf attachments. I am running Thunderbird in Ubuntu and the default app in my Ubuntu is Okular. Under Thunderbird Settings, Files and Attachments, the pdf setting is currently System Handler but that does not lead to any action when I click on an attachment. Under Thunderbird Settings, there are no apps listed in the Other list. Selecting that option just takes me to Ubuntu Documents - where there are no apps. Okular is definitely the default app in my Ubuntu setup for opening pdf files. How do I get Thunderbird to use this? Thanks for your help Ian

I have defined the setting for asking to save or download but all files I choose open are always downloaded as well. How can I avoid this?

Top and bottom view directions are no longer accurate. Can't find accurate ones.

The only directions I can find to change the layout back to "top and bottom view" is here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-change-thunderbird-layout Last updates in 2021, and is no longer accurate. Please. 1) Provide accurate directions. 2) Update the page without delay (Even if it is just updated to say "This is no longer accurate, correct directions to come" 3) If #2 was only done with a quick update to notify users it is inaccurate, update in a reasonable time.

Hi there, I still have a problem with the settings in Thunderbird. I have set the column headers differently. But fixing them does not work. There is no button for that either. When I move an email to another folder, it takes the column header setting with it, often the default. Also when you create a new folder it gets the default "Toggel Message Thread", which is exactly what I don't want. There must be a setting somewhere that allows you to set and fix a different order of the column headers by default. In this forum "extensions.set-default-columns@clear-code.com.order" was recommended somewhere. But it is no longer available. After a lot of searching I still haven't found the solution. And it is still very annoying. Please help, all advice is welcome!

In the main window of the application, in my opinion, an excessively large window appears (approx. 40% of the application area!!!) asking for support (donation). Does a one-time payment (donation) eliminate this window once and for all? I am thinking of abandoning this application, the size is too distracting, too irritating

G'day from 'Straya!

I have migrated Thunderbird from one Windows laptop to another, copying the profile and all included files. This mostly worked but has created a couple of issues I am trying to troubleshoot and could really use some help.

First thing probably worth noting is that I had an earlier version of Thunderbird on the old laptop than the new one downloaded to the new laptop. I don't that if that is the problem.

I have two email accounts which are both using IMAP. When I delete an email in Thunderbird, it keeps coming back and I now have multiple copies of that email. My storage is filling up 😒 Is there a setting I am missing?

Additionally, the migration does not seem to have brought over my contacts. Did I miss something?

Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Mozilla Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I have encountered several issues while using Firefox, particularly with tab synchronization between devices and general performance when switching profiles. It seems that tabs do not sync reliably, and there are significant slowdowns when managing profiles on my Android device.

I would appreciate it if you could guide me towards the best way to resolve these issues, or let me know if there is a workaround available. I am an avid Firefox user and would love to see these issues resolved.

The curse of the behemoth yet again? I refer to the ‘new’ imposition imposed by Microsoft with their ‘new’ authorisation and authentification nonsense when attempting to log in to account/s via Thunderbird. Why this is necessary when it is possible to log in via the usual manner direct is any body’s guess. My personal opinion is that it is a sordid and underhannd way of forcing us to subscribe to Outlook 365? Cynical me? For numerous reasons I need and use 6 e-mail accounts, sadly all Microsoft (outlook.com, hotmail.com. .co.uk and last but not least live.com). No need to explain why the excellent Thunderbird is used and has been for nigh on 15 years+. Over the past couple of months I have tried every conceivable configuration supplied by the support team and other poor users in the same position as me. None have solved my problem. I surely cannot be alone? I do not object to change if it is of benefit but this is madness. For the time being Thunderbird is redundant and the daily grind of signing in individually via Microsoft faces me everyday. Both time consuming and arguably pointless. If someone has a definitive solution please let me know. There must be one?

I have been reminded by Microsoft that Thunderbird will be unable to access my Outlook account after Sept 16th. I have followed the instructions on the MS help site to re-configure Thunderbird, but when I try to change the Authentication on the outgoing server settings OAuth2 does not appear as an option. I've been using Thunderbird with no issues for years and I'd hate to lose it... Thanks Nigel

For mails I receive 'today' I found the following setting for the inbox list: mail.ui.display.dateformat.today (now is 2)

This displays the date in the list (after restart of TB). Nice. When I open the e-mail, still only the time is shown.

How to show always time AND date also in opened mails?

None of the topics in the drop down I was given are relevant to my question, which is about the Calendar in Thunderbird 115.12.2, on Windows 10.

When I edit an event or create a new one in the Calendar, the height of the Description window is ridiculously small, as shown in the attached screen capture. It only displays a couple of lines of text whereas my descriptions are usually far longer than that. So I always have to resize the window and TB doesn't "remember" my preferred window height, so I have to resize it every single time I create or edit an event.

Is there any workaround for this, to set the default height of the Edit Event window to a larger height than Thunderbird's default?
