How do I get rid of the "Download the new Microsoft Edge" banner that keeps popping up in Firefox? I have checked for solutions on the web and have already gone into Windows 10 settings and disabled the "Get notifications from apps" option, and unchecked the "Get tips, tricks and suggestions" box. That doesn’t help at all.

I am using Firefox 77.0.1 with Windows 10 Home, Version 1903. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 1650

Hi there!

My firefox suddenly stopped to show me pages. I don't know what's the reason of it, however it doesn't work either in a safe mode (without any additionals) or without it. Also it doesn't work on 2 different windows accounts with different browser settings. I can't do anything there, and when I run the browser I can see the page content for about 2 secs, and then suddenly it crashes. When I refresh it again, I can still see the content for only a short while and it breaks again (image in attachment shows it). I'll be thankful for any help with that problem. I've suspected it's some kind of virus but anti-virus program doesn't detect anything.

I'm trying to use the Firefox "Logins and Passwords" saving option. With one website, when I open it to the login page, Firefox enters the password in the username field and nothing in the password field. I've checked "Saved Logins..." and verified that the information is entered correctly. Why doesn't it work?

but if the synced data is encrypted by device A and sent to mozilla server for saving, how does device B able to decrypted the data received from mozilla after signing in ? this can be possible only if the encryption happens at mozilla server side and not the device itself .

doesn't this means mozilla server as well able to decrypt the data and read it ? so you can read all my passwords i synced through you ?

Because some apps don't have a dark mode theme, I have to enable the override force-dark in the developers options. When it's activated the address bar of Firefox becomes light colored with white text, getting hard to read the address. Is there a way to fix it without disabling override force-dark?

Since upgrading to 77.0.1 (macOS) i cannot reliably pull up any websites. If I disable/enable the proxy settings, or reload the proxy (using automatic WTAD), it will sometimes work for a few sites, before dying again. Any fixes?

EDIT: Clarify: It worked fine with 75. And Chrome and Safari both work, either "using system settings" or entering the WTAD address for auto proxy config.

For two days, I have been trying everything I can after reading these boards to get past this error message: "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responsive. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window"

I backed up my data on an old computer yesterday, but before I could even get it to the new computer, had issues with opening Thunderbird on the old computer again. I always get the message above.

Tried installing the backup on the new computer - and now am getting the message over there.

I have tried so many of the suggestions in these Thunderbird threads. I am at my wits end.

I have tried to start in safe mode on both computers, run the exe file manually, compare the profiles.ini file to prior backups (it is the same), look for lock files (there are none I have found), used the Profile Manager utility to install on new computer without success....

One thing that comes to mind for me next... 1) I have a copy of a backup from June 5, 2020 that was successfully used to install on the (now) old computer. If I thought that I could do a fresh install of Windows on the new computer and have that June 5th copy install properly - at this point I would do without 20 days of e-mail.

I have several email accounts and use Thunderbird as my mail collector. I am now trying to exclude certain accounts from the "Get Messages" option. There used to be a setting under account settings ''''account settings/server settings/advanced…/include this server when getting new mail.''' but this no longer seems to exist. (I'm using TB 68.9.0 on MacOs) Is there another way to do this? (It's probably obvious but I cannot find it!!)

About a week ago Thunderbird quit sending my incoming mail with the message of it times out therefore no new email. I checked with my internet server and made sure email was all ok they said a "timed Out" usually means anti-virus settings causing this. Checked this morning and anti virus is ok. Thought problem was solved, cleaned out mail as had lots in inbox. Now just tried again and doing the same thing. What could have changed the timing out and not getting mail downloaded?

When I go to Logins and Passwords, there is a full list of 135 website logins and passwords, and no option to delete them all at once. I use a password keeper and do not want any saved into my browsers.

When I go to Add-ons > Extensions, Firefox Lockwise is not listed there for me to delete it. I have changed my Firefox login password and they have not been deleted. I do not have a master password that I'm aware of. If I go to Settings > Privacy and Security, the "Use Master Password" box is not checked.

So, I don't think I even have Lockwise yet my info is being stored. Obviously I'm missing something because there's no way the developers wouldn't enable users to "delete all" of their passwords if they decide to use a different storage system, right?

How do I delete all?

Tried refreshing Firefox and uninstalling and then reinstalling Firefox, but that didn't solve problem. No problem downloading files with Chrome.

Is there a remedy? Updated recently and do not want to have to reset or do anything drastic.

I've tried running in Safe Mode and even did a clean reinstall but it didn't help. The problem does not occur with the same accounts in Chrome or Opera; only in Firefox. I've tried everything recommended here, but nothing helped.

I cannot get firefox to start, and I need help to troubleshoot this. What I already did:

  • remove and reinstall (apt)
  • rename ~/.mozilla to trigger recreation
  • start using the command line
  • start in safe mode

The only symptoms are <defunct> processes (see screenshot).

I need more information to find out what went wrong. Where can I find this?

Three days ago my emails suddenly stopped downloading into Thunderbird account. I can send, but not receive messages. This is the error I receive: The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server pop3.hughes.net responded: No such blob: mailbox=20339, item=2596, change=2326. I am using THUNDERBIRD V68.9.0 I have contacted by ISP (Hughesnet) and they said the issue must be with Firefox and is not showing any issues on their end. I can access my emails on the webmail, but cannot get the emails to download to my Thunderbird account using my desktop. I have updated my AVAST to latest version, allowing Thunderbird and Mozilla. Can anyone assist me with this issue? I am not really knowledgeable about computer issues, so please be kind to this old bat, ok? Thank you.

Hi. I reset my Windows 10 last night to fix a glitch (it didn't fix it) and I suddenly cannot see/upload my JPG files online with Firefox. For example, if I click to post a picture to my Tweet, only the PNGs in the folder will appear, despite there being JPGs in it as well. This only happens with Firefox, as Edge and Chrome show/make them available just fine, and they show up on my PC normally. I was told to reinstall Firefox, which I did, but they still don't show up.

How do I fix this?
