I am running Thunderbird 78.1.1 on a Mac (OS 10.13.6 = High Sierra). I've been using Thunderbird as my email client for over a decade. On Monday Thunderbird asked me to update (to 78.0.1) and after I did that it stopped sending or receiving email via my work account, which is via smtp.office365.com. Thunderbird has frequently been slow via both my accounts, but now it is timing out ~80% of the time to my gmail account and 100% of the time on my work account. I did not change any server or email settings. My ISP is AT&T Uverse, my firewall is the built-in Mac firewall and I turned that off without effect. I am not running anti-virus software, to the best of my knowledge. The error messages I'm getting when trying to send email are

"Sending of the message failed. Peer’s Certificate issuer is not recognized. The configuration related to smtp.office365.com must be corrected."

and the same thing using the gmail server: "Sending of the message failed. Peer’s Certificate issuer is not recognized. The configuration related to smtp.gmail.com must be corrected."

I have an att sub account that mysteriously stopped working on 8/5. The error message I get says there is something wrong with the password coming from Thunderbird. Thunderbird consistently requests the password, but cannot log on.

The password works and I can access the email for this account on the att website.

I have wasted hours with att online and done all the usual password and configuration changes they have suggested without success.  It has been configured and reconfigued for POP and IMAP accounts.

I have 4 other accounts that are operating without any difficulties and the configuration is exactly the same....as far as I can see. There were no changes to the subaccount prior to its demise.

What am I missing? I believe it to be an att server problem

After hooking up four devices to sync through Firefox, I ended up with a mess and a lot of irritation which I have not recovered from. That was six months ago. What I failed to understand is that there is no control of the direction of sync. I presumed that all would sync from my primary account computer. Wrong and truly a disaster because I had spent hours organizing thousands of bookmarks. An old computer with an old bookmarks setup (very disorganized) added its confused mess back into my attempt on the new computer to finally get organized. I still have not sorted through most of the mess.

So how in the hell does Sync actually and exactly work? Is there any directional flow? Or does it just mash the shared stuff together. How can I delete any bookmark file Sync has at Firefox server with exact knowledge of what I am doing? Why is this stuff so obscure? I exactly want to know how to ensure that Sync has no cache of obsolete material and exactly, if possible, to direct the flow....should I use only share a tab? one at a time?

Problem is that I have just installed an Access Point router between my wired PC and the ethernet cable from my hub (virgin super hub 2) The setup works and can get internet on both the PC and the WIFI AC router, but when try and connect the Mozilla VPN it won't complete (message = couldn't start vpn) I hope my setup doesnt negate use of the VPN and hopefully its a setting on the AC router/modem, if anyone can help, that'd be great :)) Jubbs99 .png's attached

I've used Thunderbird for years. After the most recent update in late July 2020 (78.0.1), Thunderbird no longer works. It will not download new mail. It does connect to the IMAP server but then gets to "checking mail server capabilities" and hangs with the spinning circle indefinitely.

I have not done anything to Thunderbird, I just let it install the update. I did not install updates to any other program on my PC. I'm running Windows 10 on a laptop that is about 4 months old. Thunderbird worked absolutely fine before the 78 update.

I am not experiencing any connection issues or problems with any other running programs.

I have tried the following fixes already: 1. Checking my account configuration and confirming it is correct with my email provider. I have the correct ports listed and correct server names. 2. Changing the timeout setting from 100 to 2000. 3. I am able to access my email on my provider's Web interface so this isn't a password issue. There is no CAPTCHA required either. 4. I checked my anti-virus/anti-malware program (Kapersky). Thunderbird and Mozilla are both listed in the "allowed apps" list. I tried removing them both and re-adding, as well as searching for other variations of Mozilla/Thunderbird to add. I also tried Kapersky's "refresh" function. 5. I tried restarting my computer. 6. I tried rebooting my wireless Internet connection. 7. I tried using Thunderbird's "start in safe mode with apps disabled" function. 8. I tried re-installing 78. 9. I tried clearing caches and cleaning with CC Cleaner.

Nothing has worked. Something in the 78.0.1 update has messed things up. Thank you for looking into this.

Hi I upgraded my computer to Thunderbird 78.1.1 using Thunderbird Setup 78.1.1.exe on Windows 10. I get a message saying that a new version of Thunderbird made changes to the profile. When I look at thunderbird.exe it says the file version is 78.1.0.7522 though it does say that the product version is 78.1.1.

I tried downloading and reinstalling a couple of times, it hasn't worked.

How can the profile be modified by a newer version than I installed?? What can I do to get it working?

After doing a BIOS update on my HP desktop, it corrupted the Windows 10 OS, and a reinstall was necessary. My original Thunderbird profile was saved, but copying the profile files to the new profile did not work. I have added images in Explorer of the files in both the original and the new Thunderbird. An other question, not so important. The classic view will it be possible in the new versions? I'm forced to use outlook. I just can't accustom to it. I hate it. So I want all my mail under Thunderbird classic layout.

I have a private message board and I am having problems with the messages not marking as read. Sometimes they mark and sometimes they don't. If they do not mark I refresh the page and they show as marked. I thought it might be just one computer but all three are doing the same thing. I started with the 77 version of Firefox. I replaced my router because of other problems. I took one of my laptops completely removed Firefox by deleting everything mozilla in appdata and sub directories. I went into the registry and deleted everything mozilla. I then reinstalled Firefox, left it as a fresh install. Booted my computer in safe mode with only network. I then launched Firefox and it is still doing the same thing not marking the messages as read by changing color all the time. Like I said sometimes it does mark them and sometimes it doesn't. I am running the latest version of Firefox. Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer no problem marking as read. Does anyone have any more suggestions to try.

I got a new computer (Windows 10) and downloaded TB 78.0.1. I went to add the calendars from Gmail accounts, but the process for doing so appears to have changed. Search results in Help and via Google refer to earlier TB versions.

To add a network calendar on a network, it must be in either iCalendar or CalDAV format. A location is then required. Old instructions indicate that my email address should be added here, but the system said it was a bad location.

How do I add my calendars?

Hello, It seems that my Firefox Browser upgraded itself and has a different look now, precisely speaking, my browser looks like beta version now. Earlier in the past, I downloaded Beta but I was disappointed because I COULD NOT FIND OR SEE MY BOOKMARKS.. Sadly and annoyingly, same thing happened now!
