Hello, I have an odd situation. I have a new job, and want to sign into Firefox at work to sync my bookmarks and settings. The problem is that I seem to have saved the password wrong. My home laptop is working great as long as I don't sign out, but the system won't let me change my password without the old one. Is there any way to reset the password without having all my stuff wiped? Or can I do a backup on my home PC first, then do a reset/wipe, then restore? Thanks.

I have an issue trying to configure a secondary email account, for a non-profit I do some work for. It was ok in the past, though I recall was tricky to set up on TB a couple of years ago. But now it has ceased to function after I migrated TB profile (successfully apart from this issue) no matter what I try. I’d be grateful for any suggestions. As is the case with many non-profits, there’s little tech support, but others can use the email account ok. I think it may be a TB issue as I have been able to set up the account ok with MS new Windows Outlook app (lame, but better than Mail…low bar). I’d rather have this account on my TB client along with the others I use. And the issue is replicated on two of my PCs. TB account set up reports “can’t detect settings from host server”. I found a support thread link text, which says “The failure to detect settings is rather common where hosted domains are concerned. Mostly because everything is done to a price and most of the things around encryption are done in a halfhearted manner. As is the server setups for mail. However by faithfully copying the settings from the provider as to domains server name and ports it should work.” So I did manual configuration – copied the settings from the successful Outlook set up, but no dice – all I get is server time out message. Settings are: IMAP server: mail.XXXX.org.uk Port 993 Security SSL/TLS [earlier working settings were STARTTLS port 143] SMTP server: mail.XXXX.org.uk Port 465 Security SSL/TLS [[earlier working settings were STARTTLS port 587] And using Normal Password for both; I tried Autodetect too but no good. I’ve see a suggestion that turning off the firewall (Norton) might work, but I’m reluctant to do that and doesn’t seem to make sense that would cause the issue. I found another suggestion that apparently works for some people - leaving password blank on setup. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1399690. I just accidentally deleted my account and i just can't remember my password but i don't want to reset my password because my data could be deleted and i have no backups and no other way to get my account back besides resetting my password

Thunderbird refuses to connect to Gmail with password. Fresh install of Thunderbird. New password (triple verified I'm using the same password) OAuth2 enabled Gmail account entered correctly, Thunderbird contacts Gmail, secondary authentication text sent and verified, refuses to connect.

Outlook Office 365 - works gmail.com - works Thunderbird - "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password"

Incoming IMAP SSL/TLS imap.gmail.com

Outgoing SMTP SSL/TLS smtp.gmail.com

I just lost several hundred tabs on Firefox mobile right after it updated itself. The most recent tabs show only ten of those tabs, which were all opened and closed today and aren't part of what I need to restore.

How do I get my tabs back? I've seen no 'restore previous session' option. My laptop only shows the few I have open now. What do I do to restore them?

One of my two gmail accouns has suddenly become impossible to access (cannot receive, cannot send). T'Bird produces an Authentication has Failed notification, after a Google Window headed "Sign in to Mozilla Thunderbird Email" which refuses to go away. Clicking on the 'help' or 'privacy' options in that google window produces no more than a blank window but then "Sign in to Mozilla Thunderbird Email" reappears a few minutes later. My other gmail account doesn't have this problem, so I assume it's not gmail but it's T'Bird.

What's going on?

(BTW signing into this Support resulted in an email "New sign-in to Mozilla Support" warning "New sign-in to Mozilla Support to Firefox on Windows 10". Trouble is, I'm on Windows 11. Trivial maybe, but telling maybe.)

First, I am supporting a family member, who has TB configured on two separate machines. Configuring for Comcast IMAP+SMTP, in the usual manner; nothing esoteric about that, all very routine.

Machine A seems to be working okay, no errors. TB up to date on this machine, connected over an ethernet wire, if that makes any difference.

Machine B, getting spam prompted over IMAP 1014 errors. No other information is provided than 1014.

I have tried dropping the account configuration hundred percent, restarting TB, re-adding the account configuration, to no avail. Still spam 1014 errors.

I did happen to notice TB needed an update, so I did that as well. Still 1014 errors.

I have also tried dropping that email saved password from the saved passwords, and responding to the subsequent re-enter password prompt. Also to no avail.

What if anything might have changed, and how can we contend with this? What is so corrupt, do we need to be mucking around in any AppData files, roaming files, etc?

We are not the only ones, apparently, to have bumped into this issue. Not sure if this is also Comcast specific, since a recent TB and/or IMAP specification change, i.e. maybe we try with a gmail account, for instance.

Wondering also, is it IMAP and/or Comcast somehow tieing Machine A to the IMAP and not releasing that association? Knowing a little bit about IMAP in this regard. And/or somehow now prohibiting Machine B+ from establishing a connection?

I just made an account under the user name igoreulaers1 with email address igoreulaers@icloud.com. It looks like the user name igoreulaers is taken, and most likely because of me not being aware of that account. Is there a way to delete that one or transfer my iCloud address to it?

I've appreciated using Thunderbird for an ad-free Hotmail experience for quite some time. I've changed my Hotmail password every few weeks lately and Thunderbird worked fine when I entered the new password at the prompt when Thunderbird started.

Just now however, I needed to get into my Microsoft account that uses the same password as my Hotmail account. My login to Microsoft failed. Trying to understand why, I looked in Thunderbird at the saved password for Hotmail's server:

The saved password was a 464 character long ASCII string totally irrelevant to the password I'd selected for Hotmail and Microsoft.

I went through the password change process for Hotmail, was then able to get into my Microsoft account and restarted Thunderbird. As usual, Thunderbird asked for the new password. I entered it and was then able to receive new mail from the Hotmail server in Thunderbird. However, again, the saved password in Thunderbird for Hotmail was not the password I'd entered.

Next, I deleted the saved passwords in Thunderbird, restarted it and this time it prompted me to be sure I'd downloaded it from a reliable source. I've never seen that prompt before. It came with my Linux Mint installation, so I thought it would be safe, but again there's an irrelevant password saved for my Hotmail account.

It's like it eventually changes my password for Hotmail and Microsoft since I can get mail through Thunderbird with the odd password it saves, but if I use what should be my password for Hotmail or my Microsoft account via a web page interface, the password doesn't work.

I'll have to stop using Thunderbird if this continues.

WP10 / Firefox / Thunderbird :

There are two different email accounts/names in Thunderbird. Only the original one shows in Firefox Settings Passwords.

How can I have Passwords also recognize and display information for the second account?

Today my PC has launched Firefox 3 times on 3 occasions before I could tell my PC to launch McAfee. I shut off Firefox as soon as it would let me and proceeded to McAfee alright. I never use my computer without the antivirus/firewall etc. running even if I am not on the web.

I checked Firefox settings but could find nothing specific to my issue. I have not made any changes to Firefox or any other software since the last Firefox upgrade. My PC runs Windows 10.

Is there a switch or toggle I can use to ensure my PC waits before loading Firefox? This phenomenon is new today. Thanks!

My protonpass manager and email accounts were compromised by a hacked Discord user. I began setting up the password manager in mozilla to help me with my passwords, but somehow mistyped the Master Password I was trying to set up. Now I have no idea what it is and need to reset it.
