Can you please try with setting the <em>services.sync.serverURL</em> to an empty value instead of '<a href="https://auth.services.mozilla.com/'" rel="nofollow">https://auth.services.mozilla.com/'</a>. That might help.
</p><p>I also saw this old SUMO thread <a href="https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/751849" rel="nofollow">to disable Sync completely</a>, but am not sure if that configuration option is still available or not.
