The update to Firefox 25.0.1, which should fix the particular problem of pages not loading unless there is mouse movement, has just been released now.

  • If you have downgraded to Firefox 24 before to work around the issue, please go to Firefox > Options > Advanced > Update and turn automatic updates back on. Then go to Firefox > Help > About Firefox which should trigger the update to Firefox 25.0.1. In case you need to download the setup file for Firefox 25.0.1 separately you can do so from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/#firefox
  • If you were test-running Firefox 26 beta, you can either choose between switching back to the Firefox 25.0.1 release (use the link above to download the installer) or stay with the beta version - the latter option has the advantage of receiving new features weeks before they are landing in the regular Firefox versions and being able to sound an early alarm in case such serious regressions are occurring, so there is enough time fixing problems ahead of a general release and minimize the general impact.
  • If you were one of the people who helping out by checking the Nightly 28.0 developer try-build, please uninstall it from the windows control panel (but keep the option to remove your profile data unchecked!) and switch back to the general release version which can be obtained through the link provided above.

In case you continue experiencing the the same page freezing issue even after an update to Firefox 25.0.1 or have anything else you need help with, please open up a new question, because this thread is already pretty long and complex which will make it very difficult to keep track of or respond to individual issues.

Thanks for your patience and all the feedback you've provided which helped us getting a fix for the problem shipped as quickly as possible.

Updated to FF 25.0.1 and that corrected pages not loading unless there is mouse or keyboard movement.

Thanks!

Hooray! The upgrade works. Thank you.

I have applied the patch and although it did fix most of the freezing it has not resolved the problem completely. I tested it on youtube and on one video not only did the picture freeze, but now even the sound stops. I ran 4 different videos and it only happened on one. I am running windows 7 Home

Earlier rolled back to 24.0 because of severe locking up issues. Just tried update 25.0.01 with great success. Works fast and currently have no issues.

Thank you for your hard work. Good job.  :)

I tried 25.0.1 and got the same bad result as before--none of my tabs would open, it could not access those sites. So I used RollBack Rx PC to restore my previous setup and am now again using 25.0 with minimized Windows Task Manager.

I know I sound like a shill for RollBack; I have no connection with them, however, they did save my bacon many times just as GoBack did years ago till they stopped making it. I have found that Windows Restore did not always work.

I guess I will wait for Firefox 26.0. Till then my kludgey fix is better than having to learn how Windows Internet Explorer 10 works.

I have loaded 25.0.1 and it seems to be working well. Thank you for the fixes on several levels.

hey i just got around to seeing that the new version of firefox 25.0.1 is now available and most ppl say it is working fine. I did not downgrade. I have just been using nightly since the problem was starting to be fixed. And it actually has been working nicely. Can't I just continue to use nightly and forget 25.0.1 completely? If not, I'm a little confused on what to do first. Should I delete nightly first from control panel and then upgrade by going to help. I did not turn off my upgrades. Or can I upgrade and see how the version 25.0.1 works before I delete nightly just in case it does not work out for me. At least give me the link where I can get nightly again if 25.0.1 does not work for me, thanks

Have you tried opening Windows Task Manager and then minimizing it? That worked for me with 25.0. I could not try it with 25.0.1 because for me it would not even open.
