I am banging my head against the wall on this. Why can't Mozilla give us and easy way to get rid of this annoying popup? I'm ready to uiinstall Firefox for good. I guess they don't care if people don't use their browser or not. WHy bother doing it if that's the case?

You can try with Adblock plus Addons

For more

If you installed any toolbars that also popup ads, so remove unwanted toolbars. Check for malware.

If you do not keep changes after a restart, see:

Did you do a malware check?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I need more information than this forum is supplying. Nobody has told me where this Ad Choices come from. Are they legitimate? I need to know everything about them. I go to a CNN.com page and it tells me this is legitimate: [http://www.cnn.com/services/ad.choices/] Someone please explain this before we go maleware phobic and paranoid. Yes it is annoying but how and why is it happening now even with tracking cookies turned off this banner shows up in this very forum but not on my own controlled websites. If this was malware I would expect to see it on all web sites not just CNN.com , Google.com and various other sites including this firefox.com site

Also this shows up in a news.google.com search. If its illegitimate I would not expect to find it there. Also on another machine barely used I saw the same ads so I am ad loss to understand this. More research is necessary

They have an Icon or maybe a favicon: http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/services/ad.choices/images/adchoiceslogo_sm.gif Ad Choices Logo]

There is a meaningless OPT OUT button which tells you u receive the same number of ads but they not relevent to your interests - What kind of opt out is that? To me opt out is no longer receiving the ads at all

What is happening here ??? Its nuts. I have to use up cpu and memory resources to block these ads? That is not only wrong that is very wrong. How does our government in the USA allow this practice. I would rather stop using CNN services everywhere than be subjected to this garbage

If this is Malware it is truly ingenious and evil all at the same time. In either case I must better understand it and I for one would appreciate a much better response than those shown so far. Where is the public outcy. I honestly do not care about the privacy issue so much but subjecting users to Ad Choices is SO VERY WRONG and as a netizen I should have rights to not have this show up on commercial sites I use.

Have you tried everything above?

MY Biggest issue is this looks legitimate - That Tunner Network, and CNN.COM condone this . It only happens on pages associated with them but what is going on???? Someone needs to explain this...... See the page: http://www.cnn.com/services.ad.choices - Some one please explain this plague on us all..... I am cooperating with you but still the issue of Ad Choices remains???? What the Hey. all my antivirus/firewall software say all is well. HERE IS ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO DESCRIBE Ad.CHOICES: http://searchengineland.com/google-revamps-labels-on-ads-to-comply-with-industry-effort-69424

This does not appear to be malware - This appears to be some nasty corporations - doing the worst kind of annoying advertising. I would appreciate more feedback on this subject. In the meantime I will let you know what works to stop these awful ads.
