how to upload video from my camera
I have an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop, mozilla os, I want to import pix and movie from my camera. The pix import ok but the video shows only a blue line, no pic. When I try Realtek, (or Realtime, something like that) it alerts me that I need Quicktime. Quicktime will not download on my computer. I set my choice to Windows or any other choice but Realtime and try to import the video, it goes right to the Realtime choice again. Help!

i'd first try if you can playback the files successfully with the vlc-player and in case that works get rid of real player, quicktime and the other redundant software.
as for sharing your videos per email, there might be 2 different issues: it depends of how big your video files are, but many mail providers have file-size limits that prevent you sending large files or your contacts of receiving any files that are beyond a certain limit (different for each mail service). as a workaround you could use a file locker like dropbox, microsoft skydrive or google drive to upload the video and only share the link to the file per email. the second issue might be of the filetype of the video - your contacts may need to download the vlc player too in order to play the videos. what you could try though, is to first convert the files by a program like miro converter into a video file format that is more commonly recognized & playable like mp4 video, before you share the content...

hello BillnBJ, i don't think that issue is related to the firefox browser in particular, so this forum might not be the right place to ask for help...
however you could try if you can get your videos to play with the videolan player, which includes support for a large variety of video formats.
Philipp: Thanks for your reply. Just a question or 2 for you. I downloaded quicktime and realplayer through another suggestion and at least I am able to upload my camera video. Videolan, which you suggested, sounds like a much better application. My Hp laptop came with windows media player, viewer, etc. and now I have roxio, quicktime, realtime, etc. should I uninstall any of these other software on my computer, or can I download the Videolan and use that exclusively? With Videolan, is it possible to email any videos I create with my camera? Hope to hear from you and appreciate your help.

Thank you very much Phillip for your help and advice on uploading and playing back videos on my laptop. I like the vic-player and deleted the real player and quicktime etc. I'm also impressed with the latest edition of Mozilla Firefox. It took me a while to get used to it (I'm still learning) but it beats IE and Google as far as I'm concerned.
Again, thanks a lot Phillip. I am finally uploading and watching videos on my laptop. I've yet to play with the vic-player as far as sounds, etc. but look forward to it.
