How do I get rid of "Info Atoms" ?
I downloaded the latest version of Firefox and I noticed that I get re-directed to other sites sponsored by "Info Atoms".
I called myself removing it by looking up troubleshooting tips elsewhere. I was told to go into the registry editor ("regedit") and locate the files and delete them. I did that and I still get redirected to Info Atoms sites, and see pop-up menus under fields where I am to type in a key word search.
This only happened since I got Firefox. None of the other browsers on my PC had this.
I just want to know how to get rid of it once and for all.
It's not listed in my programs list, does not turn up on a search done from my START menu. It's buried somewhere in my registry settings.

The answer I wanted - and should have figured out myself - was to go to Control Panel's Programs and Features, and simply UNINSTALL it! That solved my problem.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Go to "tools". Then "add-ons". Then "Applications". Then disable "info Atoms".
I'd like to REMOVE it, not just disable it. It's a bad thing and I don't want it coming back. Thanks.

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager.
Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.
Extensions installed that way need to be removed via the settings (preferences) in the program that added the extension to Firefox.

Can anyone indicate how / or what program applied it. It was found in the Plug-Ins. Had to use add / remove programs to get rid of the annoying pop-ups.

Where is tools?
By tools ( also what exact tool are you looking for?) do you mean the pull-down, if so it should be located on the menu-bar at the top of the browser page. If not, click on the Fire Fox ion / button at the upper left corner to access the all of the menu-bar items. The different tools will then be listed separately. To make the menu-bar show again, mouse-over the "options" icon and click the "menu-bar" box. The menu-bar will then appear with the "tools" icon / text. Hope this is what you want.
Our friends at InfoAtom have learned how to disable AdBlocker. This is really a sneaky malware. On infected computers it advertises on our web page for my law office in Silicon Valley. Like a Phoenix it seems somehow to continually resurrect itself. The programs can't be uninstalled from the control panel in windows anymore and I guess I'll continue to find a solution -- this is costing us money!
