Had add on Privacy suite before upgrade to 17. Will this be fixed soon?
Says not compatible with FF 17. Is there a fix for this? If not how do I go back to older version of FF?
Also I am getting lots of pop ups now. Settings appear to be correct.

Hi,
PrivacySuite is compatible. You can try to right-click and Find Updates for PrivacySuite via Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons > Extensions. If it fails to update, you can also try to Remove, and reinstall it via the Search bar on the top right, or from the AMO site.
If problems persist, please reset Firefox and start afresh with the PrivacySuite. To save a listing of the add-ons, important modified preferences/settings etc. to quickly replicate the previous profile, please Copy all to clipboard (on the left of the reset button), and paste it into Office Excel, or OpenOffice/LibreOffice Calc, or notepad. However, it would be a good idea to check for the existence of the issue immediately after the reset.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

No, not helpful. I reset FF but Privacy Suite is still not showing.
Well I've done the following; 1. Tried everything of your suggestions. 2 .Reloaded albine privacy suite (0.749) 3. Reloaded FF 17.0.1 4. Ran CCLEANER etc.
When I go to tools, add-ons, extensions,, it shows privacy suite not compatible and disabled. I check for updates and it says to restart FF. After restarting FF everything looks right. Privacy suite is enabled. UNTIL I CLOSE FF. then it shows Privacy suite is not compatible.
What's next?
If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see this.
@dumb, you have got to be kidding (or you're a troll). Why would you think there's a problem with the FF installation and suggestion a what would probably be a huge waste of time. PrivacySuite has been able to handle multiple updates of FF versions, and there is no reason to believe there's a problem with the latest installation. All my other addons installed without any problem after the browser reset, so that suggestion was a waste of time too.
The problem is with PrivacySuite, IMHO.
Let me guess, you are braying at the mirror, right? And oh, if you additionally have yellow glasses, take that off to stop seeing everything in yellow.
Well, no problems here with PrivacySuite... why don't you try the suggestions instead of kidding and trolling around aimlessly, or maybe that's all you are good at?
I thoroughly cleaned up the cache and, guess what, PrivacySuite works great again now. The problem had nothing to do with security.
How would anyone even start to consider where to look for stuff like "modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc." And checking software certificates? Really? Where in any of the requests for help is there an indication that software origin is a potential problem?
I stand by my comments and note that my original question - "Why would you think there's a problem with the FF installation?" - was ignored.
I understand that people want to help other people with computer problems, but sending them on wild goose chases is decidedly unhelpful. In extreme cases, trolls do it maliciously.

If you don't mind , will you tell me how you cleaned the cache
Thanks Barry
Barry,
I used CCleaner but also cleaned up AppData\Local\Temp except the protected files.
Cheers

Thanks. I thought I was still on 0.749 when I did the clean-up. Either way, I'm happy. But this episode has told me I'm depending on software at Beta level and I make sure I have a backup and printout of the accounts list.
