I'm having an issue that started when I updated to FF13. When I scroll a page past (up or down) an embedded video (like youtube) the embedded video becomes chopped up, broken, distorted, and messes with the visual look of the site I am viewing.

If I scroll up and down a lot, I can actually get it to visually duplicate the site in the area where the embedded video is supposed to be. It's quite weird.

My video drivers have been fully updated since the issue and did not fix the problem.

I have tried FF in safemode and that did not fix the problem.

All of my add ons and plugins are fully up-to-date. Plugins I use are adblock and noscript (both disabled during the test and site allowed).

Anyone know what might be causing the issue since upgrading to FF13? I think it may have something to do with Flash.

Look, this is getting silly.

Firefox/Flash was working fine before with embedded videos.

Now, Firefox/Flash is broken with embedded videos.

Mozilla/Adobe: Liaise with eachother and sort it out. I don't care whose fault it is, just get it fixed.

?wmode=opaque <--- Adding this to all my embedded videos that are in iframes solved my problem, THANK YOU.

So annoying.

I uninstalled 11.3 with the uninstall utility listed in this thread. Then I installed 10.2 from here http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html and my problem went away. The version I downloaded was (Released 4/15/2011) Flash Player 10.2.159.1 (66.3 MB). I ran flashplayer10_2r159_1_win.exe within the zip file.

I also tried adding "vmode=opaque" command, but then it didn't work at all, just appeared an error message like "Video is not found".

Hi El_Mexicano, the name of the parameter is wmode not vmode, in case that helps. When adding a new element to a URL, there are two possible forms:

(1) there is no "search" component in the URL, i.e., there is no question mark yet, then add this:

?wmode=opaque

(2) there already is a "search" component in the URL, i.e., there is a question mark following by at least one name=value pair, then add this:

&wmode=opaque

Can you get it to work?

I had a similar problem with embedded Grooveshark player. It was fixed by unchecking the box in options saying to use hardware acceleration when available. So I think hardware acceleration causes a problem here.

Read on this topic for weeks. No definitive answer. Decided to try the accelerator thing. Fixed it. On my computer. What about the browsers who visit my site? They will see the garbled images as soon as they start scrolling. Is there a fix underway?

Seemed completely fixed at first but... still problem on scroll

Hi topcat4ever, the scrolling glitches may be related to one or more of the following:

  • Smoothing scrolling
  • Autoscrolling
  • Firefox hardware graphics acceleration

To turn those off, go to this part of the Options dialog:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced > "General" mini-tab

  • Flash hardware graphics acceleration

You can toggle the hardware acceleration setting using the steps in this article: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

  • Flash 11.3 Protected mode (Win7 and Vista only)

For this and other Flash issues, consider disabling this feature until it is fully debugged. See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

Thanks for the quick reply. I can tolerate it on my machine, I was concerned about browsers visiting my site using Firefox, but now that I think about it, if they are using Firefox they are experiencing this everywhere they go so it won't be specifically associated with my site. Firefox has been pretty good to me over the years so I guess I'll wait it out till there's a solution. Thanks again.

I'm still having problems regardless of tinkering around with the settings above - plus it changes the way Firefox works which isn't what I want.

Mozilla and Adobe simply need to fix the bug, the end users shouldn't have to be randomly attempting workarounds that affect the browsing experience. The core fault needs to be resolved.

How long has it been now? Over a month?

Hi folks, thanks again for your answers. Btw, what if anybody of us contact Adobe to ask them about this issue? Have you tried it? As I'm concerned, I'm almost sure the problem is with Flash and not with Mozilla's browser (ALL objects using Flash are involved, not only embedded YouTube videos, but also, for example, SoundCloud Flash objects).
