Ubuntu 10.04 Firefox upgrade cannot be installed
For the past 2 weeks, Ubuntu Upgrade Manager has said that the latest Firefox upgrade (from 11.0 to 12.0, if I understand correctly) cannot be installed.
This is from the Ubuntu Update Manager "Description of Update": Changes for the versions: 11.0+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.2 12.0+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
Is anybody else experiencing this problem, or is it only me?
Any ideas about what to do?
(P.S. had to trim the Troubleshooting Information, too much for the provided text box. Deleted the printer info, didn't seem relevant.)

IF you are having problems updating Firefox, it'll be better to preform a Clean Reinstall of latest Firefox version.
-> Uninstall your current Firefox as described in this article -> Uninstall Firefox from your computer
- DO NOT SELECT TO REMOVE USER DATA AND SETTINGS
- Restart your system
-> Download latest Firefox version from the following link using some other Web Browser:
-> Install Firefox 12 as described in this article -> Install Firefox on Linux
Check and tell if its working.
mha007, he is using the Ubuntu supplied build of Firefox 11.0
If you want to update to Fx 12.0 from Ubuntu, you could try to get support on the Ubuntu forums.

Have done that. No luck yet, But thanks for the info, I'll keep trying over there.
I am a newbie as far as Ubuntu is concerned, but I seem to have a vague recollection that the Ubuntu LTS editions like 10.04 may not or may not always have been even able to easily support updated Firefox versions, even the Ubuntu builds.
The new LTS 12.4 is out and that will be able to run current Firerox releases, and any updated releases. Standard installs as already mentioned come with Ubuntu supplied builds, but installing other builds (that includes our Firefox Release) is not something the average Ubuntu user will be recommended to do.
I've never had a problem with a Firefox update before, from 3 thru 11. So the Ubuntu builds have been pretty good, previously.
You can still try to install the regular Firefox 12 version in a separate program directory (e.g. as root in /usr/local/firefox12) to see if that version works.
Make sure to use the Profile Manager to create a new profile on the first start.
cd /usr/local/firefox12 ./firefox -P
There may not be a Firefox 12.0 package for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS ? http://packages.ubuntu.com/
