the books tab will not show the urls that I bookmarked after I installed the updated version, please help

I am really confused, please help. After I installed the new version for firefox, the bookmarks tab would no longer open showing all the bookmarked urls. It opens just showing" bookmark this page", subscribe to this page" ect.. I am not really sure if the updated version 4.0 was really installed? I am a newbie and was really enjoying using using firefox, but now I can't use the bookmarks tab. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me. I have tried the online chat help, but it is never open per the hours provided. Thank you so much for the help.
