After the upgrade to Firefox 6.0, a kind of malware has been included in the browser. When opening, i.e, a newspaper site, some words appear as double underlined, and a link to www.textsrv.com/xxxxxx is included as hyperlink. I wanted to extract this pluging, malware, or whatever it is called unsuccessfully. Looking into the internet, it seems that the Adobe Flash has the problem. ¿How do you recommend to solve this issue?

Thanks for the suggestion I took a look but theres no extension by that name

The problem is that Text Enhance appears to be incorporated into other add-ons with a wide variety of names.

This thread identifies a variety of those add-ons: How do I disable the "Text Enhance" affiliate platform that is present on all my web surfing | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help.

That thread also links to this article, which has a long list of things to look for: http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-text-enhance/ I haven't studied or tested that page, so I don't know whether any instructions there are correct.

If nothing jumps out at you, try copying/pasting your list of Extensions from Help > Troubleshooting Information for forum volunteers to examine.

Yesterday, 10/3/11, I could get rid of this nuisance by going to www.textsrv.com/optout.php. Today I get a "BAD GATEWAY" message which seems bogus to me. I've tried Chrome, IE, and Opera. They all have the same problem. It seems Text Enhance and textsrv.com are licensed to GoDaddy. I've spent hours trying to get rid of this but with no luck. I think it's a conspiracy and somebody is being paid off. In the meantime, Firefox is offering no help. I think they're in on it.

http://www.textsrv.com/optout.php Go to the above link. Check the opt out box. Fill in the Captcha. Submit. You're done!

This indicates that either Firefox is in on it for money, or Textsrv is installing male-ware on all Firefox browsers. Either way Firefox is to blame!

I got this mal ware by installing google chrome, it was in the tool box and I got rid it it there. It came back, this time I got rid of it with the opt out. This doesn't work anymore. Now it's inside firefox some how. I've worked over all the cookies, addons, and extensions I can find and all to no avail. Finally I just exported my bookmarks, and removed firefox completely. I then upgraded to FF 12, it automatically installed my book marks, and ... I STILL have it. I would curse these bums to eternity. The problem is that each time a new page is opened it takes 5 seconds to accept the cursor while it reloads textsrv, its a friggin nightmare and now I really don't know what to do next.

My only alternative now is to ditch using firefox and go back to IE, back to the stone age, lol.

Does ANYONE have any ideas where it could be hiding inside firefox if I've already done cookies, tools, extensions and addons? The only thing that changes it is Flash/disable but that also stops youtube, ie anything with a moving image.

Should I try removing and reloading flash?

and I repeat for the helpful folks who keep posting, the opt out button on text website does nothing.

thanks, very frustrated, rjwnz

FWIW the auction site they're promoting, Z something, is registered in Malta, and is rapidly getting a bad rap as a scam site that takes your credit card and charges huge fees that are never refunded, just like the ones we saw last year for weight loss. Run away from the auction site, it is a 100% scam.

thank you, awesome reply, and gives me plenty to work with, cheers roger

PS! IT WORKED!!!!! Incredible, thank you, you are a god!!. Its been a month or more of hell, with 5 seconds delay for each page I opened, it essentially froze my work, enough that I'd closed firefox down even though all my bookmarks were on it. I'd discovered that closing flash would stop it , but deleting the file BFlix in extensions got rid of it, after a restart. I'd not done that before because I'm not a computer person and I assumed BFlix was related to the dvd type software thats all over my computer.

-A tip to folks, clicking on the ads will send a signal to the malware brain what kind of keywords you open, and will send you more and more active links, if at all possible, open these ads as little as possible. -Deactivating any flash related extensions has stopped them for me, but at the cost of stopping all video from working too, but it was a way to get a short break. if I needed to get work done

thanks again
