You can remove that extra copy from the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

No there in the bar menu Where you see Firefox Getting stated

Did you open the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks ) or opened the Bookmarks Toolbar folder in the right pane?

There you can see all items that are placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar and remove them.

I do not see a bookmarks manager

Also, I see that sync will not work any more? Did you guy's give up on it??

Nope

The dups are still there

I think it time to give up of FireFox, Safari seems to be better.

Did you use Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks ?
