How do I get rid of the default browser check window every time I boot up?

I am running FireFox 3.6.17 on Snow Leopard. Every time I reboot FireFox I am asked to make it my default browser, which I don't want to do. I've selected No and unchecked the box Always perform this check. I've gone into preferences and unselected Always check to see if FireFox is the default browser on startup, emptied my cache, then restarted. Nothing seems to work and this is annoying enough to make me stop using FireFox at all.
