Firefox keeps freezing my laptop

Hello, Randomly but frequently enough to be annoying, Firefox freezes my entire laptop. I have windows 11. It freezes so badly that I have to hold down the on/off button until it goes off. I looked it up outside of Firefox help and, per suggestions, turned off the hardware accelerator. That seemed to work for a little while but now it's happening again with greater frequency. There doesn't seem to be any exact situation that causes it which makes it very hard to diagnose. But it's enough that I'm thinking of looking for another browser so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Windows home or pro? What security software besides MS Defender are you running? What make and model laptop? Did you try with Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#search

Windows 11 Pro Dell Inspiron The only security software is what comes with Windows and whatever Firefox has. I did not try Firefox in trouble shoot mode. I'll do that. The problem is that it could go for days without happening and then it happens again. It's so random.

In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted (and Unsubmitted, if any) Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Thank you for your help!

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

Thank you for your response!

Hi Paul, I entered about:crashes in the address bar and it says "no crash reports have been submitted."

I don't know if the issue is that Firefox crashes. It freezes the entire computer. The mouse won't move. If I press, ctrl, alt & delete, nothing happens. I have to hold down the power button to get the computer to go off. It's a total freeze.

How about a pit stop for updates. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us?app=drivers

Thank you - I've updated what was available. We'll see what happens. I appreciate all the suggestions.

You should know by now if it's better or not.
