Websites like Medicare.gov give message like "We can't process your request at this time." This happens with increasing frequency on pages I know are valid and secure. MS Edge opens them with no problem.

Another example - my bank web site. Firefox triggers a whole series of confirmation tests from them but Edge gets in with just ID and password.

I am using a VPN from Malwarebytes. Windows 11 is the OS. Latest version of Firefox is installed (144.0.2 (64-bit))

I have been a long time Firefox user, but am starting to drift away to Edge because it connects to more web sites with less hassle.

What are my options?

You can test whether this is caused by Firefox's "Total Cookie Protection" feature by temporarily turning off Tracking Protection on these critical/trustworthy sites. To do that, click the shield icon at the left end of the address bar (next to the lock). On the drop-down, click the blue slider switch to disable protection. Repeat on the site's other servers as you encounter them.

Any difference?

My version of Firefox has a slider for "Enhanced Tracker Protection", the only slider so I am figuring that is the one you are referencing. Turning it off on the Medicare.gov site does not change the site's response to a valid login ID and password.

Poking through the Total Cookie Protection link you gave above, I went to the Settings: Privacy and Protection: Enhanced Tracking protection and changed it to Custom and then changed the Cookies setting to "Cross-site tracking cookies". That seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks
