3rd party scripts, disabling Extensions, within FireFox!
Recently I've had the Un-welcome experience of Scripts triggered on YouTube, which Over-ride my Installed extensions to Firefox.
I've had YouTube, somehow Disable extensions and refresh the webpage... Without my concent or even an option for concent!
I've even blocked the popup window, which triggers the script which performs this action within another extension... and within 7-10 days Youtube has by passed the bypass that i've employed...
In my opinion a web-browser which allowes for extensions to be installed and run... should Block any and All scripts which try to disable extensions!
I seriously hope this can be looked into asap... or someone in the community has a work around, as my work around (blocking hte window which triggres the script, which disables the extension....) was by-passed within 7-10 days...
I used to think myself a compettent net user, but i'm aged out atm... still if i'm unable to prevent this sh*t and manipulation within FireFox, I doubt the average user or the layman will have a chance in hell of being secure and keeping their chosen extensions running...
This needs looking into ASAP!

If I understand the scenario, the extensions are NOT disabled on the Add-ons page (Ctrl+Shift+A). Sites definitely should not be able to disable extensions in Firefox, so that makes sense.
> ABP is disabled, for the page and the overall site (YT)
Is this the ABP setting you normally would access yourself through its toolbar button (on/off for the page/site)?
I am surprised that the site knows how to talk to ABP that way. This seems like a flaw in the extension. However, I think the authors of the extension are in the best position to figure out what is happening at a technical level and bypass it. If they identify a flaw in Firefox that needs to be fixed, they can file a bug on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/.
I think I found the answer on Reddit:
Adblock sent me this in response to my email about the matter: "We are using a new strategy to handle YouTube's anti-ad blocking warning. When we detect YouTube's notification, we will automatically pause Adblock Plus so you can continue watching without disruption. The pause is temporary so if you leave YouTube and return later, it will remain unpaused until the warning is detected again. We believe YouTube will only attempt to show you the wall for a day or two and then we can go back to blocking ads as normal." So it's Adblock turning itself off to try to slap down YouTube's latest update.

Could you describe the scenario in more detail. You have extension(s) that affect your use of YouTube in some way - what are they? There is a popup window -- is that message of some kind? Have you contacted the extension author(s) for support?

Thank you for showing interest into this issue! It really needs looking into...
However, I feel like I answered the majority of your questions in my initial posting.
My scenario is: I have had ABP extension installed for Decades... and installed at the time this issue arose. I also have uBlock Origin extension installed at the time.
At the time of initial posting, when venturing to a YouTube(YT) video... a popup would occur, which resulted in ABP being disabled (not just on the page but on YT as a whole) without any interaction on my part.
I proceeded to block the overarching window (which seemed to be triggering the script that disabled ABP features) with uBlock Origin... which stopped this behavior for a time... ~4-5 days...
I reported this issue when this uBlock Origin, work around seemed to be blocking this Overreach.
However, Since i've reported this issue, the situation seems to have become worse... YT is now disabling ABP without a popup, thereby bypassing my uBlock Origin work around... which is even more concerning!
Essentially what i'm complaining about and hoping mozzilla will look into, is the fact that a 3rd party site has found a way to run scripts which modify settings on extensions within mozilla, without user interaction!
The sequence of events now is as follows....
(ABP & uBlock Origin Active). Click a video on YT (YT = YouTube) Page freezes, ABP is disabled, for the page and the overall site (YT), page then refreshes with ABP disabled completely...
If I try and re-enable the extensions features the page Auto re-freshes and disables the extensions features... There's a script being run that interacts with the extension within Mozilla FireFox... to manipulate an extension...
Whilst I was expecting YT to continue their battle against add-blockers, but this goes above and beyond! For a website to be able to interact with and change settings on an extension that's installed in the browser, is in my opinion going Far too Far! & shouldn't be possible!
it should be something that shouldn't be able to occur... especially with the "Historically Privacy Focused" browser, that is FireFox!

You're understanding the scenario correctly... its not out-right disabling the Add-on, but turning the Add-on off, within its settings (which should require user interaction) for the site in question, in this case YouTube (YT)
"I am surprised that the site knows how to talk to ABP that way." I was just as surprised, which is what drove me to start this thread, especially after the action initially occurred based upon a popup, which I by-passed... but then a few days later happened continuously, without the popup...
The reddit thread you've found, kind of explains things... If true, I'm shocked that ABP would take this action! & I'm happy to see that the Extension is not being recommended... As this kind of behavior goes against the principles of the addon, for sure! Well if you ask me...
Thanks for the time you've put into my query jscher2000! Your assistance has been helpful.
