Hi, is it a company computer, or a personal computer? This message usually indicates that an Enterprise Policy is being applied to your Firefox. This is not surprising in a workplace, but it is less common at home. The most common culprit is your security software.

As a starting point, does clicking the message lead to the About Policies page? If not, please type or paste about:policies in the address bar and press Enter to load it.

This page has two panels; the Active panel is the important one. Usually, that will say "The Enterprise Policies service is inactive." but yours probably lists at least one policy. What do you see?

02/28/2025 @8:38 pm CDT -- Good evening. As I am also having this problem, I'll answer your question. I'm running a Dell XPS 8930 desktop, w/Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, 1T HD. It is NOT connected to a company or school, all the SW on it is mine personally.

1. When clicking on the link w/the topic statement, the system returns the options you mentioned; Active and Documentation. Active shows the following:

Active Policy Name Policy Value Certificates ImportEnterpriseRoots true

2. When clicking on Documentation, there's a long list of options / explanations.

So, with this info, HOW can I return Firefox to recognizing me as an individual, and not part of an organization or school? What settings do I need to change? If it's a Registry change, that's possible, too. This is my 48th yr. as a Technologist.

Thank you.

There are two location to check for that Enterprise Policy:

(1) policies.json file

Customize Firefox using policies.json

in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution\

(2) Windows Registry (less common)

Customize Firefox using Group Policy (Windows)
