Shortcuts
I stopped using Firefox because of the level of BS Big-TEch involvement and lack of PRIVACY. I've been using BRAVE. But they are'nt much better. So I'll switch between as I feel fit. Just so you know. My recent irritation is Shortcuts. I like the speed and convenience of CHOOSING & USING my shortcuts.
I do NOT like the option of "sites you save or VISIT" That is NO option. I DO not want YOU choosing to save every site I VISIT and loading onto my screen. This is not a choice. Just because I visit a site WHY do you save it to shortcuts? It's a PITA deleting crap I don't want.
You should ONLY save the sites I CHOOSE to add.
Not rocket science. WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO DO THIS?
The Internet It's becoming less and less about what I want to know (Trying to get relevant search replies is harder than ever) and more about what you want to know about me.
MALWARE ? When you are collecting more data than you know what to do with it is Oppressive.
I can see my current usage of Firefox being cut short again at the point of annoyance with this parasitic tech.
Oh and the proccess of creating an account and passwords blah blah just to ask a question that changes sweet FA...... No wonder there's anger. Idiots.

Hi,
Many thanks for your message.
You can disable all of the shortcuts via settings (accessible by the hamburger menu (the three lines) in the upper right hand corner of the browser window) by unchecking all of the boxes within the "Home" tab. See the screenshots for more information.
This should prevent new shortcuts and other random items from being added without your permission, as this can be a very frustrating experience.
Additionally, you can also change your default search engine (via the "Search" tab) to a more privacy respecting one, such as DuckDuckGo, since that provides more relevant information and doesn't track you as much as Google does.
If you want to go further, you can also check out the "Privacy & Security" tab, where you can change your privacy preferences, and even tell Firefox what to do with your search history.
I would also recommend using an adblocker (such as uBlock Origin) to improve your overall browsing experience.
Once you've followed these instructions, using Firefox should hopefully be a more pleasant and privacy focused experience for you.
Hope this helps, and hopefully you continue to enjoy using Firefox.
Thanks for your response.
Yawn!
I do not need nor want a typically corporate scattergun 'helpful' response. I do not need your advice about other issues or what I can do. I have already fathomed what I can do. MY POINT is that there was a time when I CHOOSE THE SITES I WANT ON MY SHORTCUTS.
I do not want you saving EVERY site I visit on Shortcuts. It is an idiot idea serving NO BENEFIT to users.
Shortcuts should be ones that I want permanently on my home/tab page. Not filled up with every site I visit.
CLEAR ? I hope so. It should be Crystal. Or do I need to be as patronising and passively dissmissive of content posted. Limit your comments to the specific issue.
Solved the problem? Mozilla have created a 'Feature' that is proof of incompetence. Where is the benefit?
Why don't you turn it off?
@1497tenten
I was trying to help you out, since the shortcuts feature were clearly a problem for you, and that I found a solution which would have been helpful for you, but after the response that you gave, you've made it crystal clear that you don't deserve any help or advice at all, so you won't get any in the future.
Just to clarify, I've never actually worked for Mozilla, so I've never created that feature.
However, if you do want to raise a complaint, I suggest emailing Mozilla, or inform the developers about this in a civilised way.
If you're easily annoyed like this about everything, I highly suggest that you log off from the internet forever, touch grass, get involved in society, and reconsider your life choices.

That's precisely why forum's are something to avoid at all costs. No doubt it's a question of Quantity, not Quality that results in a 'Top 10 Contributor' title...... A nothing comment.

Sage advice. Certainly far more valuable on all fronts. Thank you.
If Moz.... Had a feedback option on the browser, I would have simply thrown it at them. HOWEVER. The only way of achieving any engagement is by creating an account and throwing the issue out to a Forum. Provoking the usual forum responses.....Something I avoid. Similarly all social media. I do not and never have had ANY so-called Social media. I ditched my Blackberry after they shut BB down. No Smartphone. No Social media. No interest. There's more freedom in my life than you could imagine. Thanks for the reminder, It's probably why my frustrations are out of proportion. Because I don't do this sort of thing. I won't do it again. Thanks for the perspective check.
Rozinaa, Thanks, Have a lovely day.
Hi
If you wish to fix the top sites you see on the Firefox new tab page, this support article should help:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-new-tab-page
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me and everyone else whom is trying to help you), not Mozilla employees or developers. If you want to leave feedback for developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Share ideas and feedback…. Alternatively, you can use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.
