Escape key no longer allows exiting full screen mode, I must restart Firefox browser in order to use it.

2013 Macbook pro running Big Sur 11.7.4. The escape key no longer works when using full screen mode to return to the Firefox browser. I must quite and restart Firefox anytime I am in full screen mode. My escape key works on full screen mode on other browsers.

Yes, a couple other users have reported this as well. For example:

I found a freshly filed bug report on this (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1829403), but I don't expect much to happen with it until Monday. I found an earlier bug report that sounds relevant, but it was closed without providing enough information to be helpful because the user who reported it stopped being able to reproduce it (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1824776).
