YouTube Wont Play In Private Window
Firefox 103.0.2 (64 bit) doesn't play YouTube videso in Private Window. The same videso play in s statdrad new window. Try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fiVciCs8zU which ironically won't play in private! Every time you press the play button you get about half a second of play before pausing. In standard mode it plays just fine.

I guess that asking this forum is a waste of time. Now using Edge for private viewing as Firefox doesn't work and is not supported. Only a matter of time before Firefox becomes not fit for purpose.
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content.
- click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection
You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:
You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).
"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:
- Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"
"Clear the Cache":
- Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
As I use exactly the same addins and settings in normal and private there can be no reason why any of those would affect YouTube playback. The playback works, its just that it only plays 1 second at a time in private, so there MUST be a problem with this mode and YouTube.
Dropa as you are using the version released on 17th Jan 2023, can you now confirm if Firefox have included any bug fixes for this issue? They don't appear to have it listed. If this is truly a user help forum and not from Firefox, then just how do Firefox go about fixing the parts broken that occur whenever it is updated? Where do they get the user feedback from?
cor-el Tried but still not working!
I found that I can view the files normally in private mode if I download and play them. It's the player part that's not working!
Dropa Does the same whether the addins are on or off, although I still don't see why private would be affected by these. Does the same in safe mode. Manually updated to 190.01 problem solved. Thanks to all who responded.
Problem not solved! After two days of working the problem is back: This cannot be due to the addins as nothing has changed between working and not working. Clearly, updating has temporarily removed an issue that subsequently returns.
Further testing has found that video with links to YouTube work, but not when the same video is viewed directly in YouTube.
